I feel it's time I finally ask, what is the meaning of this word/pair of letters "QQ" What does it signify? What purpose does it serve? Is there any particular way of saying it? What are it's origins? Why does it continue to persist?

What's more satisfying than watching a squad get wiped out while they try to take out a tank with swarm launchers?
Taking that squad out with a standard grade basic light suit.

I am speaking post 1.8 - thats more their job than yours.
If you really want to run the scanner then you have to suck it up and sacrifice in another area. You cant expect CCP to give you more CPU/PG just because you need it for your dream fit.

Mainly for the hacking bonus, I rarely use NK since I use SG. Anyhow, I like that CCP adjusted the prices for the light(basic) frames.
Mainly use advanced suits, so the standard light frames will be fine for me. Specifically the Min and Amarr light suits for both characters. I'll use my SP to improve core skills before getting another scout suit.

Good to see the dragonfly evolved. It kind of pushes me towards proto Gal vs Proto Cal.
I hope backpedaling finally gets adjusted in 1.8. A poor old scout can hope can't he?

The origin of QQ is rooted in two words Queen Quotient. The former world being representative of Drama Queens and the penchant for attempting to generate excessive uncalled for emotional responses, while Quotient refers to the degree of the specified characteristic of the Queens.

Actually, it's the command to quit game. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=qq
It is used to say that someone's complaining is from lack of personal skill, and not poor mechanics.

Bugger, Appia beat me to it. Yeah it's from old Warcraft 2 multiplayer. My first ever multiplayer game... god I feel old. It refers to the command used to quit the match, mostly used when losing.
It's meaning has changed to actually complaining, not just rage quitting. |

How could this be an indirect Nerf to scouts? We no longer have scanners that are impossible to beat that can see 360-¦ instead of the 60-90-¦ they are intended to see. I'm not sure how passive scans are broken. They seem to be working as intended at the moment. Also many of us do not rely on active scanners as they give our prey a giant message letting them know we are in the area. |

We will be getting a Scan range buff up to 20m (30 with passives). Our Precision is being dropped to 40 as well.

your doing something wrong.. there is a bit of delay for scanning for some reason
so if running a min scout you will run right over the hvy before it shows up on radar but other wise passives work fine(beware the ghost Hvy's some people do damp them)
I pick up proto scouts who havent skilled up there damps yet with 1 complex precision (atleast I assume they havent cause I was picking them up and you only should need lvl 3 in damps after getting proto scouts, will ask next time I pick up a proto scout suit)
but yes the extra range is key there, things are so much easier on the G suit then the M suit |

There are actually a lot of problems with passive scanning. some terrain still blocks it. Active scanners can scan through "static mesh" parts of the terrain and surface installations, but passive scanning can only go through surface installations. It means that people can hide from your omniscient passive scanns behind dips and hills on certain maps when you do not have the high-ground.

OMG- passive is so pwn3d. LLast and I were running in an open field and a heavy got the drop on us. I am lv 5'd out on range and precision. I never trust it.
So- Given the advent of the dropsuit command SP refund, I proto'd into Gal scout....
....Just to finally strut the Quafe suit. Very svelte I might opine. I'll have to play a few FW matches so I can show it off in the war barge.

What it translates to now is a pair of eyes crying, but as a minor warcraft player (the real version aka RTS game) and a major Starcraft player (zerg master race!!!) back in the 90's I can tell you that bit came from warcraft, alt+q+q was a way of exiting said game.
God I feel old, knowing that developed while I was playing said games.

This... Having a heavy get the drop on you at point blank, die, come back and look at him through my sights to show >1000 armour.
No dampeners...
This is rage worthy.
I'm sure there's some sort of lag involved as well. As sometimes it just randomly occurs, my passives show nobody then blip, suddenly there's somebody right on the other side of the wall, as if they just spawned there.
Now when are HAVs going to have a profile we can pick up on passive? |

I've been saying this for a while.
To help clarify for others - i'll make a COD example (ikr!): there was that perk that made you invisible to UAVs.
Perk was obviously useless unless someone called in a UAV.
Scanners = UAVs.
Or: if a tree falls in a forest if a dampened scout walks through a forest but no one scans the forest (because they can't 360 anymore) - how useful was the scouts dampening bonus?
