Has anyone else noticed that occasionally enemies are invincible for a few seconds after spawning at a mobile spawn point? I unloaded 6 ****** rounds into a heavy with no damage done. Another instance a blue heavy and I were clearing an area when a red heavy spawned. Both me and the blue heavy died with almost no damage done to the red. There was no-one else in the area and I had just destroyed the mobile point when the red heavy became visible. I think this is nearly coincidence that both instances happened with heavies but possibly a glitch? |

I guess it's a start. I read on some Dev post that they often will leave certain threads alone if they feel the thread is being relatively constructive and the community is going in a good direction. Maybe that is why we rarely see a Dev tag on scout threads. It must be because we are so awesome. Also because we have some of the most objective forum posters in the game, in my opinion at least. |

I agree let's keep this going as long as we can. It's just too funny. Also I may post one of Moody's videos or someone in the comments of his video and say " this is how you shotgun." I also think we should keep an eye out for him in game and "teach" him how yto properly use a shotgun. |

I think he also will delete all of those which clearly show him he is wrong. He deleted one of my posts on the first video I had posted to this thread. I'm hoping he doesn't ban me so I can keep commenting. |

Heh. I was thinking about downvoting his video, but alas. HE HAS DISABLED RATINGS. Literally, you can't critique him without his approval, and you can't even downvote if you don't like the vid. Why would you disable ratings? Can he not take criticism at ALL?[/quote]
Why would you accept criticism when you can insult the person in some obsurd way and delete anything that doesn't make you look good? Also I loved how at the end of the video he said he wasn't a bully and yet through the entire video he was constantly attempting to insult us by calling us gay. |

I feel the same way. I started out with a medium suit and did OK with it. Although when I started I was a pretty terrible player. Then I got my scout suit and everything changed. My gun game improved and I became much more adaptable which ultimately improved my in game performance. |

So last night I skilled up to lvl 3 knives because I was just messing around with lol fits with some corp members. We did a whole match with knives. Keep in mind I am one of 2 scouts in my corp. And I have to say they were tons of fun. I just might have to go to proto knives and run fits like moody does. Anyone want to teach me the knifing ways? |

OK so I'm kinda getting addicted to knives and was wondering if anyone had advice on fittings/tactics. Currently running the advanced minmatar scout.
High slots: 1 complex and 1 enhanced shield extender.
Low slots: 1 basic plate and 1 enhanced cardiac reg.
Primary weapoin: TT3 assault sp
Side arm: ZN knives
Equipment: remote explosives.
Tactically I am running the knives similar to how I run my shotgun but a bit more causious. I avoid all direct contact and take off if spotted (usually). Sometimes I can't resist killing an ar user with my pistol. Any general advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

I have to share this. I went 27/4 last night in my pistol/knives fit. Most kills were from the knives with a few pistol kills and a few re kills. It was pretty amazing as my corp mate and I were having a knife off that match, he went 11/2. |

Anyone else care to share their thoughts? I'll be keeping my Mini scout, but if there's a general respec I'm seriously considering dropping some of my medium spend and skilling into at least one other to support my different playstyles. Not sure if I'll go Cal or Gal though, difficult choice. Will need to see the final stats on them to decide I think. Mini - runner/hacker/uplinks Gal/Cal - hunter/assault
Assuming we get a dropsuit command respec I will be skilling out of my caldari assault suit and skilling into a shiny new caldari scout and keeping my proto minja. The caldari scout bonus will make it very easy for me to see everything and stalk even scouts. I may end up sending a lot of "I see you" messages to dampened scouts and medium suits.

As far as the SG fix goes: The way the shotgun suffers in my opinion is that it's reticule does not match it's firing area across it's range. Less dispersion as Appia prefers means that more pellets land in a concentrated area, (essentially throwing slugs instead of scatter) This means the existing damage model is effective, but the reticule should change to reflect it. Greater dispersion would require more damage, either through a damage increase per pellet, or an increase in the amount of pellets thrown. If this cover the reticule in a meaningful way then the SG would have less problems, I think. Why is it always the SG that starts things around here  ok fine. i got kinda mad but i didn't threaten. Please explain this. How could this be an indirect Nerf to scouts? We no longer have scanners that are impossible to beat that can see 360-¦ instead of the 60-90-¦ they are intended to see. I'm not sure how passive scans are broken. They seem to be working as intended at the moment. Also many of us do not rely on active scanners as they give our prey a giant message letting them know we are in the area. |

They can do that now. With all of the passive ewar buffs scouts are getting we will not have a problem picking people up on our passive scans that aren't scouts or heavily dampened. |

So I finally spent the rest of my saved up sp from pre patch. Adv cloak, proto bolt pistol (prof 2), and proto magsec (prof 2). The cloak is super fun and amazing watch people freak out as they can't figure out where you went. I watched a guy run around a box 4 times looking for me before I put him out of his misery.
Also the cal scout is pretty awesome. I can see everything and at proto it looks so freaking cool. |

I do like this idea and my next proposal I am totally stealing from someone else, but can't remember who. What if when hit you decloaked for an short amount of time and make it based on damage received.
So when hit by any of the rifle varients you would decloak for say 1/2- 1 full second and when hit with splash damage or something like a flux it would decloak you for 3ish seconds. The damage wouldn't effect the cloak timer directly, but it would still be draining while you are taking damage.
Also the numbers I used are purely for the sake of example and in no way are they intended to be balanced.

So personal facepalm of the night. I signed in to use the skill points from the event and those I had saved up to get uplinks from adv to proto. As I look at the skill tree I see shiny blinky things in my chat menus and get distracted...... Then I dumped said skill points into active scanners. =ƒÿ¿
I died a little inside when that happened as I haven't used active scanners since they initially became viable, and my cal scout scans much better than those stupid things.
I'll go sit in the corner with a dunce cap on for a while and think about what I've done.

However, engineering V is an absolute must for a minja scout. The suit is very low on pg to begin with and every bit you can get is very important.

Well ghost kaiser had a good point when he commented on it; its balanced because its a large PERCENTAGE bonus to a SMALL percent, making it very low. Hmmm...something tells me your math is wrong (no offense to you whatsoever), as I ran the calculations on my calculator just a few minutes ago. Calculation should look like- 7.91*1.05*(1+(.12*1.05*(1+(x/100))) where x=bonus in percent Remember, its multiplying the PERCENT, not the multiplier as a whole, which, I believe, is what your math did. (didn't actually look over it so I may be wrong) What we get with a 50% bonus per level (or 250% max), is as follows: 7.91*1.05*(1+(.12*1.05*3.5)))=11.96 Oh wait, i was off the first time i did it-i put 2.5 instead of 3.5  So lets try this again, shall we? so well put my first eqn 7.91*1.05*(1+(.12*1.05*(1+(x/100)))=11.12 Then we use algebra and solve for x Easy So, we get x=~175% at level 5. So, per level, the bonus should be 35%, not 50 as i originally stated (sorry guys )

I think the rotation speed penalty would be the best option as it would be a global "Nerf" to everyone who heavily armor tanks, but would hit heavies hardest. It might even help the alleviate some of the brick tanking we know is a huge problem.
I'm kinda meh on the spool time.
I think the critical hit area would be amazing! It would make all those stealth kills from behind all the more satisfying.

Honestly I think not having shared scans is a horrible idea for many reasons. First of all it is completely unrealistic such as in the modern army if I saw an enemy soldier, I would report his position vocally which would be a passive scan for my fellow soldiers. We also have satelites to help have scans including infrared and other such things, so you would be making the tech level in Dust equivalent to....before caveman times? Mainly because a lot of war is done through communication and signals which can not be done well inside the game as it currently is. I can not spot an enemy and mark it upon the map for everyone to see, I also can not tell more then 6 people of the enemy even with vocal communications in the game. Now lets go into scanning and profiles within the game, scouts by far have the lowest scan profile which allows them to hide the most effectively they are also the ones who have the furthest passive scans and most precise passive scans. Meaning that you would be effectively making more people blind to them and shotgunning or being hit with whatever other weapon including a plasma cannon. Due to sound and positioning not being effectively put into the game when you fire of say...a plasma cannon this greatly limits what people can do to find scouts or even snipers. Basically you would be making the gallente scout the god of the battlefield or any scout that could keep the scan profile under what active scanners can do, which is not to incredibly hard. You would be making heavy and assault suits mostly blind and without intel as if they had no one on their team at all. In short, taking out passive scans entirely in the game, without reworking every function of scanning including, range, profile, and precision would be game breaking. Let me put it like this, in Dust 514 I can sneak up on someone currently in a multi ton tank, tell me how great the passive scans are when I can do that.

The amarr bonus is excessive, and as Iggy stated it will be able to do everything, the Caldari range is ridiculously OP in that table, and when combined with it keeping its precision, hopefully a typo, makes it even more OP than it is currently considered.

Right now the numbers look good to me. The scans are not excessively powerful, but strong enough to be a factor. Balance between each scout seems good in respect to ewar as we call all avoid the others scans if necessary.
As a minmatar scout I really like these changes along with the move of CB to high slots and our PG increase (Thanks you!). These allow the minja to be stealthy, quick, and cause chaos with very quick hacks if necessary, all at once.

@Mollerz if your speeds are correct you would be running roughly a 50 second 400 which is an incredible feat in itself. Now to say you could do that for a mile (if you were serious) is incredibly unrealistic. That would put you at roughly a 3:21 mile. The current world record is 3:43 and the 800m world record is 1:40.
I ran cross country and track through high school and college. Figuring times comes pretty quick to me as well as remembering world records.

I thought they were only moving the headshot bonus to 150% not the 225% I am seeing in game. I have it at prof 4 and it just destroys people. Having only 4 shots in the magazine is going to take some getting use to though.

So I learned something hilariously pathetic today while watching a ktb video. He has about 38 million lifetime sp and only has core upgrades to level 3, electronics is at level 1, and ... wait for it... engineering is at 0!

I ran 3 matches solo after work today OEK. Active scanner spam wasn't bad. Only had a couple of scan prevented messages. Mostly I didn't notice the spamming.
In pubs the range Nerf while cloaked really didn't effect me. I would get close to the objective, decloak for a few seconds, recloak and make my approach with the Intel I just gathered, and then take out those who needed killing. Granted this was against the pub crowd and may be different in a more competitive match. My last match I went 19/7 mostly knifing in my quafe suit with 2200 wp. Also got a pile of isk from that match.
The frame rates and overall improvements were really nice. Made cqc fighting really smooth.
I ran into Ydubbs RND and demzor in a few matches. Good to see some of the old vets/super goods return.

So I took spades advice over others, he had the most creative wording, and went with the ion pistol (don't worry ghost flaylock will probably be next).
So far it is pretty fun. I'm running the advanced on a dual pistol fit combined with the bolt pistol and they combo is working out well. I'm still trying to figure out the best use of the charge shot. I've used it a couple of times, but it has only netted a few kills and caused more deaths?
So Mr. Shovel, any recommendations for the charge shot use?

I think the reason behind including Shields in this was to discourage Duel Tanking.
But are shields truly the problem in the dual tank meta we now live in? It takes 2 complex shields to achieve more HP than a single enhanced plate (only by 10 HP). Wouldn't it be effective to put these new penalties to regular plates only effectively lowering the HP of those who wish to avoid speed penalties and lower super tanked scouts?
If assaults are to remain minimally scathed by these changes wouldn't this also promote greater assault use even if it was just plates receiving the penalty?
As a side, what is the max tank an amarr scout can achieve using only comp shields and ferroscale plates? Genuinely curious, but too lazy to look for myself as I am going to sleep nowish.

In other news. Played a few matches last night to get a feel for 1.10. Everything felt smooth and the fall off was both nice and annoying. I had a LAV sneak up on me while I was killing some BAR user. Overall everything feels good. Will have to do some note play testing.

Overall your fit looks decent but as others have said if the cloak causes ypou to drop a low slot I would drop the cloak as well. Another damp or a kincat (if you have them) would be of more benefit.
As far as the bk-42 goes it really just depends on what you can run to stay isk positive. The adv act will help you win a few more close 1v1 fights but the isk cost may be too much to be effective. Looking at the CR vs. ACR it is a matter of preference.
Get the timing down on the bursts and the CR rips people apart. If you can get thebshields dowm prior to shooting the ACR it will melt people. Practice fluxing or using a shield based side armnand the ACR will be your best friend. I recommend the ion pistol highly for this as you can get many quick shots off to strip shields. Otherwise there is the old faithful scrambler pistol.
Both of the CR variants do reasonably well in the spray and pray category from hip fire but you need to be able to control the gun/keep the enemy in sight to stay on target.
Hope this helps.
Side note: played a few more matches tonight and again everything feels pretty smooth. I didn't use the cloak at all tonight, but the matches were super easy for the most part. I almost felt bad killing a proto Amarr assault with a ScR when I was using my shield tanked quafe min assault with a RS-90.

That was one of his better rants. I really enjoyed the part where he called most people who don't like him racist. That was a real gem. Oh and I also found it hilarious that he said he has not spent money on the game but I seem to remember him using AUR weapons for a while.
Watching that video almost made me start my own thread in GD for the lulz and hoping to get a response. Still might. It will be something along the lines of asking CCP Ratatti to confirm that their Nerf cycle is purely based on what KTB uses and nothing else.

@Aero the mass driver is pretty amazing on a scout. If you can get to a highish vantage point to rain the firey explosions of freedom on your enemies you can avoid the effect of splash damage killing you. Also its just hilarious to watch people freak out and try to hide in a corner while you hit them with splash damage.

I have used it regularly since its release with at least prof 2. I find it does very well in its intended ranges, but isn't going to compete with a fine rifle within the optimals. Now I haven't used it in PC so I can't speak to its viability there, but in pub matches I am able to get kills with it.
I would agree it could use a slight buff, but not sure what would be most appropriate. Either slight damage buff or slight ROF buff would possibly bring it in line with other sidearms. I don't think the kick should be touched to avoid the cqc spray and pray that the SMG is made for.

All of these changes are looking pretty awesome. Looks like I will finally be skilling into myofibrils since I bought the skill book like 3 months ago. I got slightly distracted by the plasma cannon, ion pistol, and most recently the flaylock.
In other news. I now have all side arms except the SMG to proto with at least prof 2. Also the only primary weapon I want to skill into is the rail rifle. I may finally start to max out a few weapon skill trees... Or find some new shiny suit to skill into.

I haven't made my proto knifing jump fit yet but I'm thinking something similar to my plc fit which is listed below. Keep in mind I only have lvl 4 hand to hand. This will change slightly when I get lvl 5 hand to hand.
HS: 2 enh blues 1x comp shield
LS: 1x comp ferroscale, 1 comp kincat, and I think 1 enh kincat
PW: Allotec PLC
SW: Core Flaylock
GR: adv AV grenade
Equip: Viziam stable link and k2 hive
For knifing I would swap out the plc for knives and then use sidearm of choice. The second kincat would be dropped for a damp and av nades switched to flux. Also remotes over hives.

Short story time!
So I was playing skirmish last night and was using my jumpy mass driving min assault. We were on the old map with the L pipes, can't remember the name. So we start from the Delta side and I make my way over to Bravo. I look over the railing and see a red dot looking confused so I decided to jump over and let my MD rounds help him find his way.
As I am falling towards the guy I get 1 round off and out of nowhere a drop ship crashes out of the sky and lands right on top of the guy. It was the one time I wish I had recording equipment. I was laughing so hard I ended up getting myself killed.

Solid match last night Shotty. Was fun running into another bastard and having a few good fights. Sorry about the spawn kill but I honestly didn't think you would respawn on that CRU. That last kill I am amazed I won that fight. I saw you on my radar right before you took your first shot. So I jumped and knew I couldn't win with the shotgun so I busted out the trusty flaylock to hope for the kill. What were you running on your fit? My guess is 2 precision, 2 damps, a comp kincat, and a ferroscale plate? I made the one I was running on the fly just for you :). 2 comp precision, 2 shield, and 2 damps.

On another note I may be referring a corp mate/friend to Nos Nothi. My corp is currently dead and he is looking for a new place to play with some new people. I'll give him the chat channel so you guys can give him a shot. He is a sniper/AV specialist. His sniping has come a long way since he started and he is really good. He snipes from the strangest spots in his Calmando. I watched him get 5 headshots kills on guys within rail rifle range last night.

As it so happens I just tested the Burst ScP again the other day. The ammo nerf hit it pretty hard and Shotty you are on point with your general assessment. Too low dps to go against anything heavy hitting unless you are very good with the weapon. It is still a fun weapon to use on a sidearm fit but you would be better off with any of the other variants.

Ok I understand the want to assist new players with figuring out what dust is and how it all works, but why not work with groups like Dust University, The Learning Coalition, or even Fox Gardens people instead of creating something completely new. Seems to me that working with established channels/groups would be of more benefit to the new bros than trying to start from the ground up.

Alright everyone. I played a couple of matches today to test out the new build. What are people's thoughts in the current Meta? I got absolutely destroyed by a few Gal assaults before I could even react. Also was in a match were I saw Keeriam (Llast?) go 30-0 in what I presume to be a Gal Assault with a Creadron Breach AR.
Anyone try out some serious shield tanking to see how that is now? I used to run a Cal scout build completely focused on shield recovery which was fun but not super viable.

o/ Goose! Keeriam's a beast. OG Scout Sniper. He's far too careful and meticulous to be an alt of Llast :-) Did you try the Burst ScP? Lots of sidearm tweaks this last round; haven't got around to testing that one yet. Unfortunately, CalScouts didn't benefit much from the shield improvements. Their recovery stats were held constant. From what I've personally seen so far, they're probably doing less well now than prior to FoxFour (presumably due to more ARs). I have seem some MedFrames pulling off impressive shield tank/recovery.
Noted. Didn't get a chance to try the Burst out yet. I got 2 very open maps that did not play well with my side-arm fits. I will be giving it a try next time I get online. As my team in the match against Keeriam was terrible I had to move the a min-scout Cr/Zn-nova knife fit. I ended up 8-4 with just shy of 1400 wp and was one of only 3 on my team going positive and the only one above 1k points.
