So...yesterday went pretty well for me when I had the chance to run in my scout suit. Out of 7-8 total FW matches, I was able to stay in my scout suit for 3 or 4 of them, and finished somewhere along the lines of 16-0 for those matches. Only took about 100 damage in total from enemy fire (and probably about three times as much in fall damage.) I'm surprised at how few people actually team up to capture an objective; it's just too easy to pick off solo reds as they come sprinting to an objective. Heck, in one of the battles (5 nodes, C and E are closest to the respective starting locations) I was defending the C node. Had my usual two REs placed on the sides of the CRU furthest away from me and the third next to the doorway at the top of the steps leading to the supply depot (which is where I wait.) Saw an enemy run over to the Rail Turret and begin hacking it, so I jumped down and gave him a shotgun head-shot. I then made to run back into the relative safety of the building, only to spot a red arrow down the road. Wanting to get a better look, I caught enough of a glimpse to spot a heavy coming my way, at which point he opened fire on me with his HMG. Unable to reach the doorway, I spun around and ran alongside the outside wall all the way to the CRU. No sign of the heavy anywhere...until I notice the RT firing at the supply depot. Why would he hack the turret and not the node or CRU? I then sprinted through the building and ran right up behind the heavy as he fired the RT. He never even moved as I pumped a few shots into him:)
Sigh...only another week or so until I can unlock the advanced scout suit! |

The rather few times I've been able to join a squad with 4 scouts or more, I've had a blast. I really like the fast pace, the stealthy sneakiness and the adrenalin that comes with running with other scouts.
So, I've been thinking about applying for R0N1N membership to increase the chances of getting into scout squads more. However, I'm not sure I'm a god match for R0N1N, and I hope some of the Scout Registry regulars might be able to pitch in with an opinion.
I'm a full-time scout, as I have been since I started playing kind of early in open beta. I have proto Gallente scout suit, maxed out KinCats and maxed out scan range, level 3 profile dampening and a lot of focus on typical scout skills. About 16 mil SP in total.
On the other hand, my primary weapon choice isn't very typical scoutly. I run the semi-auto ScR - have it up to Prof 4 - and use it a lot to flank and take out enemies with charged headshots, enjoying the relative safety the rifle's range provides (compared to, say, shotgun). I mainly use a Toxin SMG (prof 2) for close-up stuff, which also happen to a fair degree. I also use an advanced level active scanner quite a lot. I generally do pretty well these days with this setup and playstyle, rarely going negative KDR, often a ratio between 2 and 5, generally in the top 6 of the killboard.
The impression I have of R0N1N, is that the focus is on training shotgun scouts. While I'd like to get good with the shotgun, I get so disgusted with the hit detection issues it's been having that I don't see myself using it much until the issues have been fixed. Also, I wouldn't want to drop my longer-range engagements to court a shotgun only playstyle.
So: is my impression of R0N1N entirely wrong? Would I be a good fit for the corp? |

Scouts don't care about what weapon you use. So long as you slay, nobody will care
As for joining scout squads, just try and que up in Scouts United during the day. I have no trouble finding those squads.
On a lesser note, would be fun to play with ya. Hit me up if you wanna tear some stuff up

Killed a tank in PC with my REs in a pc the other day, very first time in PC
Need to train on using my REs on a single objective, as is done in PC since they'll just flux um if you're not watching, placing them in places they won't be spotted, popping them before they flux to kill them, and dropping them in places hostiles would take cover things like that.
I'm also thinking about just not placing it on the objective and using them as traps in choke points instead.
Mind you I can already do these things but I'm so unused to doing them,or just do it for the lawls, since I run mostly pub/fw ya know?
Any other scouts in PC use REs, just wondering. |

R0N1N info:
We cater to all forms of scouts (shotgun, knifer, smg, ar, sniper). We are all about sharing what we know and trying different ways of playing the scout. I'm sure your application has just been overlooked. I have had great experiences running with my corp mates.
Example: Having one guy provide recon while sniping has been great. Our ability to counter snipe and direct the cqc scouts to the hot zones have been unbelievable. Through this collaboration we are becoming quite a force as a real working squad.
I encourage any scout who is looking to learn both new methods and squad mechanics to join up.

I've gone MD+scanner a few times. scanner helps my squad MD, 'cause... well, it's just fun!!! Specially in combination with the scout back-and-forth zip-zip "nyah nyah cant hit me i can dodge.. but I can hit YOU whether you dodge 'behind cover' or not!"
I actually tend to have my more positive KDR games with this setup. I'm not sure if it's because of the weapon itself, or just because the fit somehow makes me play differently. Probably the latter. 'cause I'm not really that good a shot with MD, lawl. |

Yes, I use them in PC on occasion, usually assigned to Uplink Management.
When I use them, I use them like traps, placed on my escape route from an objective. Draw fire or hack then draw the defenders through my escape route. It is the best way for scouts to handle the other suits in PC because we just don't have the eHP to deal with multiple enemies. Against your corp, the average HP seems to be around 1200, which is perfect for REs.
The role that I've slotted myself in to is, as I've said, Uplink Management. Gal-Scouts are great for this role, just equip some passive scanning gear, speed, and proto uplinks of choice. I have a suit with each of the proto links and cycle through them depending on which are up or down. We can get to hard to reach places, find enemy links, and stay away from the enemies defending the area. Cutting the supply lines has won several PCs. Not a lot of WP or glory in the job, and it has a rather high casualty rate, but such is the life as a scout.
