I have, and I'm pretty sure Monk has mentioned doing so as well.
I like it ... only bad thing is that the laser beam instantly gives away your position, so if anyone is around to see you melting your poor victim, you've drawn a line right to yourself.
Gotta choose your targets wisely ... oh, and watch that feedback! |

Yep, I've definitely got a scout suit with a Lazer rifle (just the basic STD rifle). It's a fun fit, but as Ruthless Lee mentions it's all about "here I am, come get me". I like that with the scout suit I have a lot of mobility though, which helps me keep my opponents in the sweet spot of the laser rifle.
I typically use the following with it on my STD Gallente scout suit:
High: Basic shield extender Low: Basic armor repper Low: Enhanced Ferroscale Plates Grenade: M1 EQ: Basic Nanohives
It's very situational and I'll typically use it when I'm trying to back up a team of assaults, say when I am at "E" or "D" and they are making a push for the bridge objective "A".
Or when I'm on Manus Peak and folks are pushing for "C" and I'm in the hills providing cover.
Sneak melting hasn't worked out for my particular playstyle, but if you guys are making it work - Awesome! I've also died once or twice (eh, actually lots) to the overheat feedback damage..... |

Considering all the burnstalks I got given I was thinking of trying it out - but you've just confirmed all my fears. Got every light weapon at ops 1 cept lasers because of what you've just confirmed.
Oh well, there is a bazillions things to skill into before I start with weapon ops/proficiencies anyway. If I want to fit anything proto on my BPO scout, AR is pretty much the only light I can get away with... |

It's ok, now i know you already did high-res vid with new SG 'shooting mechanics'. Need vid with 45-90 degrees kills & possibly around corner kills before they fix it. You can do that at any direction in front of you - right, left, up, down. That will be hilarious vid |

Though your chosen means of death and destruction are disparate, there exists huge potential for synergy. Sniper + Shotgunner + Assassin poses substantially greater threat than three of each.
"With Our Powers Combined ... CAPTAIN PLANET!"
Seriously though, the concept of a "Scout Only" endeavor stands substantially better odds of success if its efforts aren't divided across multiple Corps. There are too few Scouts out there to fill the ranks.
Just my two cents. I'd really like to see this work. o7 |

- Shotty GoBang Bojo's School of the Trades is diverse, it aint scout only (however we have an alarming % of scouts). It's a training corp so the only one I could see absorbing is R O N 1 N. But we also aren't super in- corp. The actual corp is for students more than faculty. |

I just want to help some of the newer guys come up in DUST and I know what it's like to pretty much not have anything when you first start off on this game. RONIN leans more towards Scout gameplay, but we welcome other types of players. |

Ok then we should really talk merging. Everyone hates the idea of merging because everyone wants to be different, have their own name, etc.
Right now we're a part of the learning coalition. It's gotten off to a start (not really slow but not rapid) and we're growing. The Mango (Charlotte Odell & Lillica), BSotT (Bojo and friends), and Immortal Guides (Fox Gaden) are part of this and you should join too, regardless of not merging.
But I would like you to consider merging. The school has been around for a while, had high points and low points. But right now, BSOTT is low on official faculty (not a real problem I have a ton of out-of-corp resources) after going through a low point. BUT, I finally organized our goals like I had originally planned. Immortal Guides is our feeder corp that teaches players the basics of playing. They move to BSOTT to learn a specialization.
We've been running with Hagintora (Gal Scout shotgunner) but I can't help him a whole lot because I am a rare if not unique breed of scout (MD AR ScP RE). I do not run shotgun and I don't know the status of V-Man (a mean scout but he was out fighting the wildfires) so I would like someone to teach Hagintora Shotgun scout things. |

I run a scout more than 50% of the time and will run it more as I skill into it more and develop more skills. One things for sure, as long as I play Dust, Scouting isn't a thing of the past. Killing proto snipers behind the red line is as good as 10 regular kills in my book, even if it calls for suicide. I like the thought that a sniper can't feel safe once he gets close to the line, primarily because of us.

The thing with RONIN is, I run my part of it and we are technically running another part of it. Though the direction of the "other part" is still in the works, we will eventually come into fruition. But for now it's supposed to be very Mentor-Student, philosophy. Meaning I will ONLY take 1-2 people to train under me personally at a time and when I feel that they are ready they are either free to leave into their own endeavors or remain within R0NIN to further broaden it's philosophies and ways. It loosely resembles the lifestyle of Bushido. |

I know that I still have a lot to learn here. After contemplating the Gal scout, I feel that my greatest strength so far is my knives. So, I'm out to master them, and my Assassin style of gameplay. That means lots of knife duels, lotsa practice, and a lot to learn.

HAHA. Yeah. It's crazy fun. Most fun I have had was running a full Knife squad with Radar, Jacobi, Lightning, Myself, and a few others.
Nothing beats watching a Med Frame run in fear from 6 very angry, very stabby scouts.
So, if you want to, we can just make a small tournament. 5mil to enter, top three spots get the cash split up. Standard Elimination.
We can even have a shotty division for sh*ts and giggles.
I'm game to make this work. Anyone else?

Yes. Pictures..... along with a memento of past glories.
A nicked up nova knife stuck beside the picture, an unused long-range cartridge with an enemies name carved on it, a blood soaked empty shotgun shell.... you know. Something we can all appreciate.
