Just so everyone who gave me a "like" is aware, I found a fatal error in my spreadsheet. Unfortunately is was in the EHP calculation of the Heavy so those values were low 
Turns out, a PRO Shotgun (with or without complex DMG mods) is a 4 hit kill on a full tank PRO Sentinel  !!! Breach Shotgun can't do the job without reloading even with 2 DMG mods.
My advice is to avoid a healthy Sentinel altogether. Unless CCP changes the Shotgun for more damage and better range, 4 shots to kill is too dangerous. |

So am I the only who might abandon REs? I only equipped them in the first place because as well as the HMG being so (rightfully) deadly in CQC, even with a solid flank (lulz) getting 3 shots off by the time they get that half a second of fire on you was a bit much (since in that time another red can down you anyway). Don't get me wrong - REs still have lots of uses, but indoors, it's all fun and games until a heavy turns up, so what I need is a heavy counter.
The corner trap is currently my #1 method of dealing with heavies and second is a flank and toss (lulz again) which is good for killing their pet logibitch as well.
I suppose I could use a ScP to bait them while also lowering shields - but I'm thinking a hive to resupply fluxes and SG ammo might be a better overall tactic for sentinels in 1.8.
This is all assuming I use cloak in my second equip slot - I suppose with REs/HIves I can afford to double up on the explosions.
Though if the current tank/AV situation remains as it is, I'll have to carry on equipping REs regardless...
You probably don't know me. But next time you get gunned down or exploded by a Valor scout...check the name.

Thanks to the responses I think I'll continue to steer clear of the shotgun; perhaps I'll go mass driver - perhaps. Haven't used it since it first came out and only had 4 rounds in the chamber - I liked it back then; used to run it on a heavy :)
Reckon I'll be going REs, hives and fluxes on most of my fits, swapping hives for uplinks when necessary. A flux RE combo will be plenty enough to kill any heavy - though with that insanely short rep delay on the caldari going to have to time it really sharp!

Well.. you can still "one-shot" heavies... you'll just have to use 2xRE in your "one shot" now 
(#@$#%... guess I'll have to actually skill into proto REs, just for the extra carry. sigh)

Then the death screen comes up.... I can't remember the rifle exactly - pretty sure it was the state specialist something or other (Ishukone?). I think the suit was Gallente scout. Then I saw that it was Kodho, and I thought:
"sweet, nice shot bro!" I meant to send him an in-game mail but I forgot so hope he see's this.

Even if they aren't as effective against Heavies, spamming them from high ground has proved to be very effective, especially in PC. If I can't manage to kill the Heavy, I could at least manage to kill the friends around him.

They are the best revive counter option, toss on body and wait for a Nanite ninny then send both suits night night.

Yeah - I will also not be giving up RE's. I do way better with my boom-booms than I do with uplinks, nanohives or injectors. I don't even carry anything else in my EQ slots except for a few start of match uplink suits.
I could never give up das REs! I don't quite spam them but I prefer to place them tactically to hold objectives or keep an enemy out of an area.
And sure, sometimes I just run in and banzai it.... I'll admit it. But, who hasn't? Who hasn't?!?!

Let's discuss RE traps.
Honestly RE trap kills are far superior to the normal troll kills. There was a heavy driving around today with prototype HMG and a heavily repped methana (no turret so I had no respect for it). First time he had a forge though but had an Ishukone Assault SMG so he was still fuckin deadly. I he pulled up and hopped out but i slapped three RE's on the Methana. And played peekaboo. I was done with the REs but needed him to get nice and close to the car. In the end, he got me and I got him.
The second time he went by on the bridge and as soon as he did, I found the bridge bottleneck, laid 3 F/45's (not 49's) and waited for his predictable route. Comes zooming down, this poor blueberry is trying to Shoot him out of the seat, the blueberry takes a methana grill and eats it, and then I blow up the methana as it's zooming by and the heavy gets sent out of the car, doing a backwards cartwheel.
I made 2/3 of his deaths that game.
But again we must remember the Heavy is a serious threat to scouts. The son of a gun got me 2 times, and I watched as my corpmate (he was running shotgun scout) tried to take him on. The heavy got out, saw him, got back in the car, backed up, then hopped out and killed him really fast from like 35 meters back. It was open space there was nothing he could do but run for the cliff edge.

I don't really put any thought to 90% of my traps. It's a shallow thought process of spotting a tanked protobear, convincing myself I can't take them, slapping a couple RE's in places that are 'convenient', and then a "Woohoo, I'm a papersuit, come around this corner/narrow path for an easy kill.", and then one or both parties die.
Other times I just call in my Bugatti Veyron and drive around looking for parked LAVS, slap 2 RE's on them and pretend I'm hacking it. When I get shot at I just hop in my LAV and speed off around a corner, wait a bit and *doot*...+50, +40 and then go resupply.

As my main role is a heavy I do a fair bit of forge sniping, had a heavy try the lav thing with a six-kin burst HMG, jumped out doing a little strafe to avoid the forge shot. No dice, nailed his expensive suit with a militia forge gun. Oh how I lol'd. |

On manus peak? rocks close to Bravo. I remember that, I had a red in my sights. Had my charged forge shot all lined up, was just waiting for him to peak out from behind the box he was using as cover. Heard that beep, had to abort that shot on the quickness lol. Was super close XD
