Iamduncan,
I think ronin is the place for you. I will be talking with lightning about the possibility of getting our corps together. I think snipers and shotguners and nova knifers can complament each other quite nicely. We need to try it out see what works and what doesn't. I could picture a squad of three shotgunners and two snipers being able to cover an objective pretty effectively. Snipers providing cover fire and intel while the shotgunners taking out reds up close and personal. Let us have a chat and get things rolling. Thanks for your interest!

Sounds good to me. Get a whole bunch of scout corps that specialize in certain fields, and then put them under the scout's united alliance. LOL |

Not sure if I qualify as a vet, that's usually closed beta terms, I'm a mere day one Open Beta fellow, but this is basically my play style in a nutshell, I don't use biotics (never found a need for them) but rather stealth and Hacking modules, I also run a repair tool for when I end up just behind the front line (it's inevitable really) But yeah, my style is sneaking and flanking at mid range. The "standard" scout loadouts just never appealed to me, so I made my own from scratch. |

Feel free. It's a game of killing and dying. I'll be happy to congratulate you... If and when you do.
I use the same name here as in the battles. I should be easy to spot. You go for your shot at 5m and I'll go for my shot at 5 inches unless I'm skilled up in knives and there's no distance at all seperating blade from throat. Hopefully it will all be in the spirit of a good game without petty resentment.
Giving the benefit of the doubt i will assume you didnt miss the main point; snipers with brass enough to step up to or over the red line don't get to sit back on their haunches in safety and thats beause of us scouts. Anybody choosing to get all constipated over that just provides me humor.

Meh. the whole "redline sniping" thing has been overplayed. People are in my opinion, making excuses. It's not really about redline. it's about the difficulty of finding a hill sniper. and once you find them, having to go schlep up there (if you're a poor widdle AR medium or heavy) to catch them.
The ones who arent good at hiding, are usually pretty easy to take out. (At range, with counter sniping) Even a lot of the ones good at hiding, are usualy easy to take out, with a good counter snipe.
On the flip side, there's the ones who are camped out, sneaky, and with a logi suit or something having 600+ hp, that are kinda a pain.
But for those, redline or not, someone could always take them out with an MD, etc. or for that matter, a tank. or dropship. or LAV hit-n-run.
redline isnt as much of a problem as people like to whine about it.
It's certainly more FUN to go ninja on them and take the mesage to them up close an personal, though.

I was wondering if I could get in on the killboard? I've been playing as a scout for about 2 months now and didn't really check the boards often. I'm a shotgun scout with a k/d of 1.38 and my kills are 2,727 and 1,979 deaths. Went straight into being a scout when I first started this game lol. I enjoy the high mobility, low damage tolerance gameplay because I'm use to this style ever since playing Team Fortress 2. Started with a .98 k/d and I'm only getting better now. I use the pistol instead of the smg, feels more satisfying when I kill an enemy running away with it lol.
Anyways, hope to learn some more tricks of being a scout shotty in this game. |

Lol, the lack of a baseball bat is what's killing me :P I used the baby blaster so I can do without a double jump, but it would be nice if this game had one lol. What would be really nice is if the breach shotgun acted more like the force-a-nature, two quick shots with a quick reload, would give the scout shotty a different gun to use. |

Seriously though, the concept of a Scout-exclusive endeavor stands substantially better odds of success if its efforts aren't divided across multiple Corps. Quite simply, there are too few Scouts out there to fill the ranks otherwise.
Just my two cents. I'd really like to see this work. o7

I understand, a lot of people want to do their own thing, but the only way honestly to flourish in this game "fully" is to also have EVE backing. R 0 N 1 N will soon (tm) have EVE backing as well as trainers in Piloting/Stealth flying. But again this idea of Scout (specific) CORPS, sounds like a great idea. |

Out of curiosity, how does the EVE backing help? Can EVE corps send ISK to their Dust counterparts? |

You're in, Brother. The only requirement is that you run a Scout/Light-Frame > 50% of your time in combat. We're here to assist should you have any inquiries.

I also tend to run with this style about half the time with my Gal Scout. (I wouldn't consider myself a 'vet' having started at the beginning of open beta).
Typically I'll have a fit composed of passive range mods, maybe a shield extender if I'm not using a precision enhancer. I don't use the SCR, I find the AR more to my liking, and while I definitely do my share of infiltration, when the forces are too overwhelming, I'll drop an uplink, wait for 'reinforcements' and then harass and pick off targets from flanking positions or cover. I find this works reasonably well, I seem to do my best when I'm either:
1.) Flanking w/ an AR (or even an LR) and passive range mods, moving w/ a team of 3-4 blues. 2.) Haunting an objective with a shotgun and a precision/range module, as well as a kin/cat
I typically do worst when:
1.) Trying to be mr. speedy bad-ass with a shotgun and kin/cats while running solo with no range/precision mods 2.) Trying to be a frontline assault with an AR and relying on my speed mods or HP mods
So, I guess for me situational awareness used in conjunction w/ HP and speed is key. Without it, my HP or speed builds just fizzle with my playstyle/reflexes/talent.....

I actually prefer this because it makes your work for proto, plus if the 2nd equipment slot was available on all suits (Scout), there would be no point in running proto. My question is what are we going to do with an extra equipment slot and still barely be able to fit anything on the suit? Extra CPU/PG for Scouts is a MUST as well as a tiny bit more health. i.e. Minmatar Scout 95-99 base armor as opposed to 87. (IMO) |

Perhaps the Devs will boost base resources as well. It'd make sense given the additional equipment slot.

^ Unfortunately, this analysis does not include everyone. But it's sufficient a sample size to get a good feel for how we've performed as a Community since Uprising 1.2. The 83 included Scouts are listed alphabetically by Tier.
As always, let me know if you have any questions. o7

I have been playing with a Gallente Scout fit which includes SMG, Advanced Swarm Launcher, Remote Explosives, and Locus Grenades.
Swarm Launcher: With the change to the Ammo Capacity skill, you can carry enough ammo to take out a few vehicles before you run out, and with the speed of the scout suit you can usually find a Nano Hive or Supply Depot. Besides, this is not the only trick up your sheave with this fit.
Locus Grenades: With a Swarm Launcher you donGÇÖt need the AV grenades. While I mostly just killed myself with Locus Grenades when I started playing dust, I have gotten the hang of cooking them now, and have gotten some nice Grenade kills recently.
Remote Explosives: Been covered very well in this guide. I need one more PG to upgrading to Advanced. (I am at engineering 4) I was not considering the initiation time, but I have still had some success with laying traps.
SMG: Most kills with it are aiming down the sites for a head shot from behind an immobile target. (Hackers, or people trying to line up a shot.) Testing confirms that you donGÇÖt want to get into a fire fight with in a Scout suit. However the SMG is good for getting a RedGÇÖs attention when you want to lure him onto your Remote Explosive. It can also be used to make someone take cover, giving you a few extra moments to escape.
I am not sure if I qualify for the Scout Registry though, as this is just one of many fits I use and I may get into a Minmatar Logi flanking fit next, before I develop my Gallente Scout fit more.

Not sure how to feel about this. Was never really interested in cloaking, never liked it in other games. And I wasn't super interested in getting a second equipment slot. Not anymore anyway. But considering it'll be optional and it might come with a CPU/PG boost I have actually been wanting, who am I to complain? |
