I have been playing with a Gallente Scout fit which includes SMG, Advanced Swarm Launcher, Remote Explosives, and Locus Grenades.
Swarm Launcher: With the change to the Ammo Capacity skill, you can carry enough ammo to take out a few vehicles before you run out, and with the speed of the scout suit you can usually find a Nano Hive or Supply Depot. Besides, this is not the only trick up your sheave with this fit.
Locus Grenades: With a Swarm Launcher you donGÇÖt need the AV grenades. While I mostly just killed myself with Locus Grenades when I started playing dust, I have gotten the hang of cooking them now, and have gotten some nice Grenade kills recently.
Remote Explosives: Been covered very well in this guide. I need one more PG to upgrading to Advanced. (I am at engineering 4) I was not considering the initiation time, but I have still had some success with laying traps.
SMG: Most kills with it are aiming down the sites for a head shot from behind an immobile target. (Hackers, or people trying to line up a shot.) Testing confirms that you donGÇÖt want to get into a fire fight with in a Scout suit. However the SMG is good for getting a RedGÇÖs attention when you want to lure him onto your Remote Explosive. It can also be used to make someone take cover, giving you a few extra moments to escape.
I am not sure if I qualify for the Scout Registry though, as this is just one of many fits I use and I may get into a Minmatar Logi flanking fit next, before I develop my Gallente Scout fit more.

Disagree with you. If you have enough skill in the gun, you can shred through targets that make the mistake of trying to engage me point blank. Spray the full clip at them, and with good accuracy, I can tear through 2 ADV suits with one clip. Easily. Also a point to note, I do have my SMG maxed operation, 3 in proficiency, 3 in sharpshooter, 3 in rapid reload, 3 in ammo. I use that gun like a close range AR. If you are good you can kill the majority of players before they line you up, even if you were naked. How would you fair against an equally skilled player in an Assault suit? At close range the SMG, when skilled into it as you are, has a DPS advantage over the Assault Riffle, but the Assault suit has more of a EHP advantage over he Scout suit. You used to be able to negate this by firing on the Assault suit while jumping around and orbiting them because the SMG had better tracking speed and no kick, while a moving target with a small hit box used to be hard to hit. Now, everything is easier to hit, including Scouts, so to win a stand up fight, you need to line up your shot and start firing faster than the other guy and aim for the face. If you have the skill to do that, you may still be successful, but the average Scout is not going to fair very well. |

Is voidfaction newly a scout? This data would suggest so....or 1.4 hit hard. God, that **** never happens to medium frames... Void could have been testing his theories for the analysis he put in the thread some pages back. True, testing things tends to result in KDR nose dives. This certainly has a dramatic effect on my KDR. Every couple of days I seem to be trying something new. I never seem to stick with one thing long enough to get good. It is the down side of trying to understand all aspects of the game. |

Hi Fox, If you're currently running Scout or Light-Frame > 50% of your time in combat then you qualify. (The purpose of this restriction is to help us maintain meaningful community statistics.) Let me know if you qualify or have additional questions. o7 - Shotty My stats are not meaningful. On Fox I have fits for Minmatar Scout, Gallente Scout, Minmatar Assault, Minmatar Logi, and Caldari Assault. I am constantly using different fittings to test different things, so I keep having to delete fits to make room for new ones, as I have been maxed on my fitting count for some time. I rarely play the same fit for more than 3 or 4 days straight, and often switch suit types. So, yeah, my stats are about as random and meaningless as you can get.

just imagine seeing a tank and a full squad coming, you activate your cloak and gtfo right past them without them even noticing.
*cough cough* and hopefully a pg/cpu buff *cough cough* I would be happy with trees, bushes, or long grass, but cloaks are probably easier to implement. |

Four your entertainment, and reference for theorycrafting, here are the bonuses for the Minatar stealth Bomber, the EVE equivalent to a Scout:
Quote:Minmatar Frigate Skill Bonus: 10% bonus to torpedo explosion velocity and flight time per level 20% bonus to torpedo velocity per level Covert Ops Skill Bonus: 5% bonus to bomb explosive damage per level 15% bonus to Torpedo explosive damage per level Role Bonus: -99.65% reduction in Torpedo Launcher powergrid needs -50% reduction in Cloak CPU Use -100% targeting delay after decloaking Notes: Can fit covert ops cloaks, covert cynosural field generators and bomb launchers. Cloak reactivation delay reduced to 15 seconds.
Notice how there is 1) a Minmatar Frigat Skill Bonuse (equivalent to the Gallente Scout sensor range bonus / Minmitar Melee & Nova Knife damage bonus), 2) a Covert Ops Skill Bonus (Equivalent to the Scout Suit profile dampening Bonus), and then there is 3) a Role Bonus which reduces the CPI cost of equipping a Cloak, as well as removing a restriction that normally applies to a cloaking device when equipped on other ships.
I donGÇÖt think Scout Suits will lose their existing bonuses. I think they will get an additional role bonus. |

Here is a point to consider:
When hit detection was (mostly) fixed, automatic weapons benefitted immensely and the TTK for automatic weapons dropped substantially.
Fixing hit detection had a somewhat different effect on high Alpha weapons such as the Shot Gun, and Sniper Rifle. While better hit detection can mean the difference between getting the kill and not doing any damage, the Time To Kill is unchanged. If it took two shots to kill them before (provided the hit registered), then it will still take two shots to kill them now.
So the rate of fire for that shotgun was balanced against the TTK of the Assault Rifle before the fix to hit detection. So now Automatic weapons are dropping people faster than Sniper Rifles and Shot Guns.
The TTK issue really needs to be fixed. If they fix the TTK by nerfing automatic weapons across the board, then the Shotgun is fine the way it is. If they fix the TTK by buffing health across the board, then high Alpha weapons will need buffs to keep up.

I wanted to close BSOTT and move it underground. He wanted it open. I left him with it, but the real BSOTT is with me, he has it's shell. Yeah so he made a terrible suggestion what's up with that? Did you think that threatened us? It's an idea, chill, it's not going to fly with CCP. Yeah, Artificer Ghost did not vet this one by me either. I can see where he was going with it, and it probably seemed cool at the time, but he really should have posted it on a discussion thread first so that he could get feedback from the rest of the Scout community. Often ideas that look cool from one perspective arenGÇÖt so cool when people look at other aspects of it. This is why I usually create a discussion thread before posting on the feedback forum. I will suggest to him that he does so in future.
That being said though, after reading the last few pages of this thread I nominate Cass Caul for the GÇ£Bitter Vet of the YearGÇ¥ award. Witch is not to say I disagree with what he has to say, but yeah, he gets my nomination.

Scout AV technique (Theoretical)
- Remote Explosives do best Damage against Armor. - Flux Grenades strip shields. - I believe you can set off your own remote explosives with a Flux Grenade. (Definitely in FW and PC, but I think in Pubs too if they are your own REs.) - In theory if you set off your Remote Explosives with a Flux Grenade, the Flux damage should be applied first to anything close by, before the Explosive damage is applied.
So, place 3 Remote Explosives on a tank, then back up and Flux it. In theory it should kill the tank, particularly if it is a shield tank.
In practice I tried for three days on my Gallente Scout fit to pull this off, but I am old and slow (which is why I do better playing Heavy) so I always died or the tank left before I could get 3 REGÇÖs placed and get a Flux Grenade off.
I would be interested in weather a good scout could pull this off, and whether I am right about the Flux damage being applied before the Explosive damage. Please post if my Remote Explosive Guide if you manage to pull this off.
For highest damage, apply Remote Explosives to the Engine block at the back of the tank. However, this can leave you susceptible to the tank reversing over you. The second highest damage location on Caldari tanks is on the Caldari logo on the side of the treads.

I discovered I could get 3 Myofibril and 2 Kin Cats on a Min Sentinel. After testing I have concluded that someone in The Barbershop might me more qualified to operate this fit than I am.

Lightning Delta used to run a trolly but effective "surprise! HMG!" fit on the same. Not sure about the MyoFibs, but why not? I ran into 3 enemy on a bridge when I was in very low armor. I thought I was dead for sure. But then I jumped over the rail and made my escape like a Scout would. Not only that, but I was fast enough to doubled back and ambush them coming through the next doorway and killed 2 of the 3.
But aside from those occasional splashes of brilliance I also experienced boat loads of FAIL since I have no experience with using jumping tactically in combat, and it is about the squishiest Sentinel fit you can make. I was also thinking about how to use the jump mechanic so much that it distracted me enough to completely screw my heat management. I can't jump or run when my Burst HMG seizes up.
Still, it is an incredibly fun fit, and someone with a lot of Scout experience might be able to do freaky awesome things with it.
