Shotty, Yes I am in fact a Sniper Scout.
I normally do not post on here. This is due to the fact that I have not experienced the decline in performance on the battlefield most of you have. All of that changed in the last two day after running my first PC battles.
I only had 2 kills in 4 PC battles. My observations are as follows:
It's not hat we are not fast enough. The problem is the other suits are too fast. It is extremely hard to line up a shot from a sniper rifle and hit your target. Not to mention you have to hit your target at least three times in order to get a kill. I consider myself to be pretty good shot, but my performance was ridiculous.
We all know our suit needs help. Unfortunately, for us to be better at what we do, other suits need to be taken down a notch. I am of the opinion that this will not happen. There are too many non-scouts that would raise absolute hell if their suits get an adjustment in order to help us out.
I will always be a Scout. Unfortunately, I will probably not get to experience PC like I do in the pubs. So, they only thing I can do for my corp is win ISK in the pubs and donate back to my corp for use in PC. This is not what I want my role to be. I do not have to have 15 Kills per match to be an effective team member. However, a .33 KDR does no one any good and is useless.
So, I will sit and wait for things to change. Hopefully for the good and maybe someone will let me play in PC to gain more experience no matter how worthless I will be to their team.

Funny thing was I was up against Team Players as well. And yes I did get shot gunned a couple of times from someone hunting me down. I never saw him! Maybe I go shotgun next time and see if I can counter them a little bit. Unfortunately, I suck at any close combat situation. I may work on that with my alt. Or, Shotty you could teach me thing or two about shotgun suit setup and run a few pubs with me so I can see how's it's done.
I do find myself near the redline too much these days. Certain maps require a sniper scout to be in those types of positions. However, there are some really good spots on some of maps that are not near the redline. They are not too high up and you have good line of sight to multiple objectives and clog points. Since you are not very high up counter snipers can find it difficult to find you. But no matter where you are you are still just one bullet away from having to re-spawn.

Just decided that scouts need a grenade launcher. Say you have a bunch of guys on top of a building, use a launcher to get a grenade up there and do some damage. Range would have to be fairly small in order to balance the risk/reward. But if we get a speed buff, it may be a viable weapon. Thoughts? Weapon should only be available to scouts. |

I was thinking more in line with the way a grenade launcher works in real life now. Kind of an arching rainbow type of trajectory. |

Guys, the problem is in PC battles. You can't get a shot on these guys because their movements are so quick. Even if you do hit them, it takes at least three hits to take them down. We need something that will have a lot of splash damage. A sniper rifle just will not cut it...Unless you have a Thale. I have been playing since January and have yet to get one. |

I just watched a video of some guy tossing grenades in Dust. If I could just get close enough to lob them on top of a building without taking a shot. Maybe they should give scouts a better/stronger arm so we can throw them further. |

I have started a scout only corp. I hope to use this corp as a training corp to teach less experienced scouts how to operate. I operate as strictly a sniper scout. I have been fairly successful at this running in public skirmish matches an would like to share my methods with those who are willing to learn. I am also aware that I don't know it all. So, help is needed from all of my scout brothers. I need all types of scouts that are willing to advance the knowledge of those who are willing to learn. My plans are to run pub matches in very small squads in order teach the different techniques that make a successful scout. All levels are welcome. The only requirement is that you run a scout suit. I have become disenchanted with the current way corporations view scouts. So, lets all get better together and further our viability. If you are interested feel free to speak with me via public channel in chat. I'm usually on between the hours of 9:30 pm to 12:00 am every day. The channel is: Public Hidden Submission. Let me know your thoughts. Like I said I do not have all of the answers. However, if we can collaborate as a group, we will strengthen our value to whatever corp we belong.

My kdr is down about that as well. The problem I'm having is kills and war points. Being a sniper is very difficult this build. My kills are off by around 4 or 5 per match. A lot of that has to do with the new buildings and maps. The new buildings are not very sniper friendly and the new maps have very few high spots for finding red dots. Most of the new maps have all of the objectives on a hill. If I venture in to find a nice high point of view, I'm almost always quickly dispatched. It's very frustrating at the moment.

Iamduncan,
I think ronin is the place for you. I will be talking with lightning about the possibility of getting our corps together. I think snipers and shotguners and nova knifers can complament each other quite nicely. We need to try it out see what works and what doesn't. I could picture a squad of three shotgunners and two snipers being able to cover an objective pretty effectively. Snipers providing cover fire and intel while the shotgunners taking out reds up close and personal. Let us have a chat and get things rolling. Thanks for your interest!

R0N1N info:
We cater to all forms of scouts (shotgun, knifer, smg, ar, sniper). We are all about sharing what we know and trying different ways of playing the scout. I'm sure your application has just been overlooked. I have had great experiences running with my corp mates.
Example: Having one guy provide recon while sniping has been great. Our ability to counter snipe and direct the cqc scouts to the hot zones have been unbelievable. Through this collaboration we are becoming quite a force as a real working squad.
I encourage any scout who is looking to learn both new methods and squad mechanics to join up.

Friends are extremely overrated. Just kidding. Scouts United should be your one stop shop for sqauding with other scouts. Also, our corp (R 0 N 1 N) provides that opportunity as well. Those opportunities can be limited due to fact that our corp is small at the moment. We are growing so things will pick up.
Keep absorbing all of the info you can from here and corp chat and you will soon find that you are better at being a scout. Everyone providing information on this thread is here to advance both our knowledge and ability in regards to being a scout. They have all expressed their desire to further our roles. Take advantage of it by squaring with them. It will up your game. However, be patient. Scout is hard mode.

Scan, sneek and destroy, Kodho Keeriam's input seems solid. May also want to check in with Tyjus Vacca.
Unfortunately, I speced into minmatar because I wanted to go knives and speed. Now both are severely hampered. Wish I had gone galente.

To my corp (R 0 N 1 N) and my other scout brothers. It is with a great amount of heart ache that I inform you that my Playstation has been shipped for repair. I know, you thought I was quitting. I'm sure most of you are wondering...how will we ever be able to get by in a battle without Kodho's 375 war points (tongue in cheek). Well you will all have to pick up the slack. I will be out of the loop for a couple of weeks. Please keep me in loop as to what is happening via this thread.

Damn it. We sure are an outspoken bunch. It took quite a while to catch up on all the postings over the last couple of days. Here is the angle from my point of view.
I'm a sniper scout. I have lived through all of the buffs to the other classes. Each build it becomes harder and harder to survive. We keep getting pushed back closer to the redline. We have maintained our meager existence while struggling with poor hit detection and under powered weapons. Now, we are going to loose our sidearm, stealth (cloaks will suck because of availability to other classes) further pushing us back to the red line.
Scout snipers are being forced to do one of two things, move to the redline or convert to a logi sniper if you want to be in good locations to cover objectives or open areas. I do not want this. Scout snipers are useless in the current build and I do not see it getting any better in the next build. I will remain a sniper scout. However, I believe you can count us on one hand.
I'm onboard with shotty and the others of like mind. While your play style if different than mine, I still support you guys on what you need to become a viable class. And yes, most of what you are requesting can benefit me as well.
Thanks CCP. Sniper scouts RIP.

That's not to say there isn't over this end, how about Newgrange? The passage tombs are really one of the things I'd highly recommend to anyone visiting Ireland.
