Yes, with max skills you can only get to 30.38. And only the Gallentte scout can get below the Meta 9 scanner.
Edit: *Sigh* Just did the math, and any medium suit with at least 4 lows can get below the Meta 9 scanner as well... |

The fact that a Cal-logi can do even this better than we can is just frickin' wrong. A Gall-Scout would have to fit 3 dampeners, but that would cause serious fitting issues, and only the proto can do that. |

Yeah, 'cause you're going to want to hide from the Meta 8 Quantum scanner that highlights you for 25 full seconds. The magic number, boys and girls, is 28dB. The Meta 9 scanner is only useful for a 5 second highlight. Although, it does reach out to 200m I think... |

I'll try again tomorrow. Played a broken Domination match, where neither MCC was taking damage from the Null Cannon, half my team left and we got no new players for 20+ minutes, and 8 vs 16 sucks with randoms.
The only redeeming fact of this update for me after 4 games is that the radar works. You can hide and actually sneak up on people.
Other than hiding, other suits are now so much better than scouts, its not even remotely fun to play. I'll keep trying for the next week, but it doesn't look good. |

Well, I'm back in the top 3 on the killboards, but had to completely change my fittings to get it to work. Used to have Crg-3 Shotgun, SMG, Remotes. Build now is
Gall Adv GLU-5 TAR ZN Nova Knives A-45 Quantum Scanner Basic Dampener
You can still sneak and get reliable one-shots, and have a good gun to back it up. GLU actually isn't bad for hipfire either. Aim assist, *sigh* |

The Light Suit gives the dampening bonus. The Gall Scout gives scan range bonus. Minmatar Scout gives bonus melee/NK damage.
The skill you need to at least three to unlock the racial scout variant is the one that gives the dampener bonus.
The skill that allows access to the suits that don't get the bonus gives better dampening to the suits that do get the bonuses.
This would be a he!! of a lot easier to explain if the skills were labeled correctly and/or the pilot suit was on the skill tree. |

I wasted WAY too much SP to test this and have come to the conclusion that I was horribly *HORRIBLY* wrong. DO NOT waste sp on the Gallente Light Dropsuit skill, as it does nothing for your bonus.
I tested it by skilling Gallente Medium Dropsuit to 3 and Gallente Logistics Dropsuit to 2. It has 2 bonuses (also labeled weird) that show up on the fitting screen.
Results are that the ONLY skill that effects your bonus is the Gallente Scout Dropsuit skill. Taking the Gallente Light Dropsuit to 5 does nothing at all and is a total waste of time and effort.

But scouting is pointless if everyone can just scan. Why take an extra person when you can just fit a piece of cheap equipment? And I don't know about you, but even if I get the drop on a Cal Logi with >1000 eHp, first shot is a head shot, I still am not sure I'm going to win that fight. Hell, heavies are back, because they can turn and kill you in the time it takes to get two shotgun shells or 2 NK swings off.
Should I just run around, hiding and scanning? Cause I'm not using a sniper rifle. |

Sinboto Simmons wrote:Killed a tank in PC with my REs in a pc the other day, very first time in PC Need to train on using my REs on a single objective, as is done in PC since they'll just flux um if you're not watching, placing them in places they won't be spotted, popping them before they flux to kill them, and dropping them in places hostiles would take cover things like that. I'm also thinking about just not placing it on the objective and using them as traps in choke points instead. Mind you I can already do these things but I'm so unused to doing them,or just do it for the lawls, since I run mostly pub/fw ya know? Any other scouts in PC use REs, just wondering.
Yes, I use them in PC on occasion, usually assigned to Uplink Management.
When I use them, I use them like traps, placed on my escape route from an objective. Draw fire or hack then draw the defenders through my escape route. It is the best way for scouts to handle the other suits in PC because we just don't have the eHP to deal with multiple enemies. Against your corp, the average HP seems to be around 1200, which is perfect for REs.
The role that I've slotted myself in to is, as I've said, Uplink Management. Gal-Scouts are great for this role, just equip some passive scanning gear, speed, and proto uplinks of choice. I have a suit with each of the proto links and cycle through them depending on which are up or down. We can get to hard to reach places, find enemy links, and stay away from the enemies defending the area. Cutting the supply lines has won several PCs. Not a lot of WP or glory in the job, and it has a rather high casualty rate, but such is the life as a scout.

In PC, I just dedicate myself to Uplink duty. Killing them and putting them in hard to reach places.
Attacking rear objectives works too. Sure, I only occasionally get the hack, but I can tie up 3 bodies by myself, taking a lot of pressure off the rest of the team. And again, uplinks are important, so that you can maintain pressure on the objective and if your team wants to dedicate other players to taking it, it's already prepped to attack from multiple angles. |

But neither you or Kain are showing anything that would help with that! If you take the cloaks functionality in combat from us AND nerf our suit bonuses so we can fit the cloak ( which from what we can see, is exactly what is happening), this turns into a nerf for scouts and a cool new trick for medium frames. So either shut up until you can show that we shouldn't fight tooth and nail for the meager gain we're getting or tell us about basic suit stats that are getting buffed. |

Maybe that's what IWS is getting at.
Personally, I was originally thinking that was how it was going to be in the first place. I was shocked when I read that CCP was designing it so you could fire from cloak.
