Scout fo' life! Only time I ever plan on changing my suit is perhaps when an Amarr Scout is revealed so I can play a suit that fits my characters race. Did you guys notice in the latest dev blog update the picture had a Minmatar Heavy in it? Keeping my fingers crossed that if they are adding suits in 1.3 that the Scouts get some tender loving dev care. Perhaps an Amarr Scout suit or some buffs to the current suits? I can keep dreaming right? |

I'm guessing the idea was that I should also pull out knives and have good ol' scouty knife fight... only, I don't run knives; I run pistol/SMG; so I just shot him in the face. I'd feel bad but I run gal scout, so assuming I'm carrying knives is pretty dumb.
Better than my last attempted Nova duel. Me and the other guy were circling each other looking for an opening when out of nowhere comes a red LLAV and splattered me on its windshield
On a side note it was kinda sad/funny as I was playing Skyrim earlier. When I was sprinting I automatically stopped and walked through a narrow opening so I wouldn't get stuck due to messed up collision models when sprinting not thinking that problem doesn't exist in that game |

I don't have enough total sp to make mistakes (like I did by spec ar lvl 4...) thanks any help is appreciated
My personal opinion is that if you don't plan on ever using Nova Knives you would probably benefit more going Gallente. It has more Low Slots so you can triple stack those Kincats and end up going faster than the Minny Scout. Yes, the Minny is more durable though the only time that is going to matter mostly is if you are hit by a sniper. Gallente is most likely going to be one shot while the Minny, if core skills are up, will probably survive with a few armor slivers(unless proto or thales then bye bye). Ideally a Scout should never be sniped because we should always be moving though. |

I know from experience that SMGs are quite capable of tearing me apart while I'm in my scout suit!
My personal experience is I die to Assault Rifles the most. The most annoying ones though are the Mass Drivers since the Flaylocks took the dive(I actually have not see a single one since the Nerf). Those things just about one hit kill me if the user is skilled up at all in the tree. Similarly Snipers are annoying, but easy to deal with if I can locate where they are perched at. |

Hopefully temporary and hotfixable. Hostiles (namely, ARs) are tracking/dropping us more consistently than before. As far as design goes UI, visuals and new maps are slick.

After playing around tonight on my own I came to the following personal opinions about 1.4
PROS:
- Scanning is fun and useful
- No shared profiles on the mini map ensure my stealth play is more successful
- New map is a nice change of pace
CONS:
- Scanning still doesn't give me a WP reward as an incentive to use them
- Aim assist is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over the top, especially for us Scouts who now die even easier than before
- Shotgun hit detection is god awful broken (first hit never registers damage)
- Nova Knife hit detection is almost as bad as the Shotgun
- Matchmaking is god awful broken: set my options to Skirmish only and got funneled into ambush and domination matches. Also, got put into matches where there were not full teams on each side.
- AFK'ers are even more prolific than before and I show not sign of them being kicked as promised. Some seem to be running against the MCC walls... probably using a rubber band on their controller I would assume.
- Latency issues are back
Overall, i'm not very impressed with the update. Hopefully, some of the bugs will be fixed in the coming week or so. Regardless, I think i'm nearing the end of my ropes. Not sure how much longer I will continue on with this game at this rate. Going to play around for another day or so and see if I run into other issues or if things get fixed. Then I will be deciding if I will continue to play or if I will quit playing the game completely until Scouts get some love and just rack up some Passive SP while I play other games. |

Switched to Lasers and the auto assist let me melt serious faces during my lunch break. Paired it with an SMG and an Active Scanner and at worst I broke even. I am not even skilled into lasers and was just using my free burnstalks I got a while back. I imagine Lasers are going to be the new FOTM this build.
Downside is I was still in a Scout suit lol... I imagine if I had been in an Assault I would have had nearly zero deaths. Took some getting used to also. Had to run away right after using the dang thing every time cause its like lighting a flaming arrow in the dark saying HERE I AM! COME KILL ME! |

I wanted to test the difference between my Minny Scout suit and my free Dragonfly Assault suit from a Merc pack I bought a while back. The results are quite depressing. I ran the EXACT same fittings using the EXACT same skills as the free Assault BPO and the difference was night and day. Going assault I felt suddenly invincible. Easily went 32/5 on the first match. Second match I went 24/7. Tried with my Scout suit and was met with dismal scores that I am almost ashamed to post but I will. 12/8 first match and 14/7 the second match. This was with Dual SMG's and Complex Shield Extenders. No speed mods, ect. The only real difference was in the dropsuit...
Scouts need some serious attentions dammit!
EDIT: Going to try again later using a NK fitting on each. Will post results later. |

Ummm...dismal? hehe, I'm relatively happy if I get that sort of score...just started using shotgun scout again. Much better than I used to do with AR guy. Much more fun? Hell yeah! Just running an advanced minnie scout.
Well I just tried again and I went 17/5 in the Medium and 7/7 in the Scout. That was with my dual SMG fit. With NK both were terrible. I don't even want to post them. NK are so broken right now and the dual SMG fit just feels like a ****** version of a Medium Dropsuit.
EDIT: But yeah I am happy if I go positive with my Scout dropsuit. The first two scores are not representative of my NK fit which does god awful right now. |

Ran Shotgun and NK combo yesterday and it was absolutely amazing when it worked. Largely depended on my active scanner so I didn't get caught by large groups and my general stealth abilities to remain unseen. 1vs1 this wrecked lots of people though. No it was kind of a bull fighter thing. I dodged just to the side and let my stab go right as he was passing by literally inches from me. He wasn't going full out speed as he was making a second pass from a failed roadkill just a few seconds before on myself and another guy. The assault scrambler is lovely. Super OP vs those pesky assault ck.0s
My fit:
Enhanced shield Adv ASCR Toxin Core nades K2 nano 1 Complx Plate 1 enhanced plate 2 Complx Repair
It's been working pretty good. Get their shields down with the scrambler and if need be melt their armor with toxin.
My only problem is that the ASCR runs out of ammo quick. But that's what the k2 is for
Wouldn't this fit work better on Gallente Assault or G. Logi? Been bugging me a lot lately that most the fittings I been seeing are not technically Scouts but are instead watered down assault suits... or at least feel that way to me. To each their own I guess. We don't fill a unique role is what i'm getting at I guess. |

Just out of interest, if this is the case, what would you then consider a scout? typically center a scout suits around biotics if you brick(plates) tank with an AR it's a fancy mlt assault but put in some biotics and it's a scout. my opinion anyway So you wouldn't consider a focus on stealth rather than biotics a scout?
I agree with knight of 6. I would normally consider a Scout to be a fast and highly mobile. They would also be lightly armored or shielded and have stealth capabilities. Usually, with hit and run or hard to use but almost always one hit kill weapon(NK's). Weapons of choice currently being Nova Knives, Shotguns, SMGs, Pistols. Though I have come to the conclusion that this is all useless. An Assault or Logi can do anything we can do except better. The only advantage we DID have at one point was going really fast and being hard to hit. That got taken away with Aim Assist and suddenly the Assault Rifles are one shot killing me from almost Sniper distances.
Its downright revolting right now how bad we are off right now. I can't even force myself to log on a play for the past week. I'm losing interest and not sure I even really want to log back on and play to be honest at this point. |

Shotgun hit detection feels slightly better. Didn't get a chance to play around with Nova Knives much, but there was a delay between when I landed a stab to when the damage was applied of about two seconds from what I saw. Nope. Was still having problems with the NKs earlier. Damage not registering, damage that did register was delayed by two to three seconds, blue shield strikes up the wazoo, unable to damage moving targets even if I stab them directly in the eye socket. Pretty much the same complaints as usual with the knives.
Shotguns on the other hand feel more fluid to me. Could just be imagining it though as it is very subtle. |

Highs: 1x Complex Shield Extender, 1x Basic Precision Enhancer
Lows: 1x Enhanced Cardiac Regulator, 1x Enhanced Profile Damp
Weapons: Toxin Assault Rifle, Submachine Gun
Grenade: Flux
Equipment: Droplink
The sweet siren call of the Assault Rifle is calling. Its hard to resist too. Though I already have decent amounts of SP already sunk into NK's, SMGs, and Shotguns. Not sure I want to add AR's to my list also. Anyone else run a fit similar to this able to comment? |

Probably going to stay Minmatar Scout in 1.8 since we are only getting a respec in dropsuit command(can get rid of my levels in Minmatar Logi finally at least and put it towards Gal or Cal Scout since i'm already proto in Min Scout) and not weapons so I would essentially waste the millions I spent on Proto Novas and the damage increasing skill. Otherwise I might be tempted to go over to Cal Scout with Combat Rifles(which I just got Assault and is awesome). |

Only real issue I have with 1.8 is this - you can't use a cloak without level 4 or 5 in a scout suit. Not a problem for me but what about a new player. You would have to grind through a massive amount of sp before you could use your light frame/scout suit as it was intended. I know we've been doing ok without cloaks so far but I'm not sure a new player would see it that way when we are all running around with invisibility.
As for me, I really don't know what to do with my dropsuit sp refund.
I'm currently minmatar. I love the speed and the shield tanking (hit and run) and would love a hacking bonus. Trouble is I'm not such a bit fan of the look. Proto gal scout looks much more awesome as do the new suits. Also I love scanning so the cal or gal bonus would be awesome. Using protofits, on paper the gal scout seems best as long as I don't mind loosing a percent or two speed with plates.
Arrgh I just don't know!
Yeah, i'm currently Minmatar Scout as well. I can't decide what suit to spec into either. Its between staying Minmatar for dat' hacking bonus or Gal or Cal. I'm leaning more towards either staying Minmatar or going Caldari though as I only have 1 level put into plates and repair modules(base armor skill is maxed though). I have seen some people mention that Caldari isn't going to have enough SP to support a decent fitting though? Not sure what is up with that. |

I really don't think they will nerf it. Anyone with a brain will be able to figure out someone is cloaked hacking the point, unless they made it so you are stealth hacking it. By that I mean the letter won't flash and the opposing team won't be notified until the point suddenly goes to the other team. |

Since it looks like we are probably going to get 2 million SP or 4 million for people with Omegas on I'm thinking its more viable to completely switch to Gallente Scout in 1.8 as I will have enough to instantly get Proto plates with plenty to spare. I'm torn though on sticking with Minmatar as it has treated me well all this time and dat' hacking bonus. Used to run knives more than I do now, but i'm thinking it may be more viable with cloak.
Can't decide. Anyone feel like listing the pro's and con's between these two suits for me to help with my decision? I eventually plan on getting both though not immediately as I want to get that proto cloak off the bat so only picking one suit for proto right away. |

Minja Pros -more movement speed -less vulnerability from hacking -knives will be the only way to 1v1 a heavy -best jump height -good all around biotics -most badass of all scouts Cons -**** poor fitting capabilities means you'll probably have to not use your second equipment slot -Slot loadout forces you to shield tank -lowest HP of all scouts -bonuses are highly situational -you WILL be one shot by scrambler rifles -shotguns insta bank you as well -hard mode scout, but greater rewards if you don't mind not having RE's or an active scanner Gallente Pros -Incredible fitting potential lets you fit whatever you want without fear -Better slot load out -can achieve greater sprint speed than any other scout while maintaining strong tank and having weapons -innate armor repair -best bonuses -is able to survive shotgun blasts with a single plate Cons -slightly less move speed, stamina, and jump height -lower hack speed -not as badass
Sounds like Gallente is going to be a more solid choice if I don't want to take as many risks. Really wish I had the SP to just snag them both @ proto, but alas not the case. Still undecided but that was helpful. |

Pretty much decided i'm going to be switching to Gallente with 1.8 now. Anyone else making the switch from Minmatar to Gallente in 1.8? Was thinking about Caldari Scout for a bit because it sounds like they may be effectively "always on" active scanners, but the lack of low slots concerns me.
Should be fun either way. Will probably pick up Minmatar Scout later on again down the road. |

My plan is to avoid the cloak for a few weeks to see how viable I can keep my scout-game. I'm not a very boss scout so my guess is that I won't see a major hit to my play-style. I was saddened by the SMG nerf. I am majorly depressed at the ScP nerf. That was my baby, there.... This happens to me all the time. I use the crap for so long that I either get bored before ever getting to the good stuff and leave the game, or it gets nerfed and becomes the crap. Never even got to roll around with my Viziams.... still got a week, I guess. I want my SP back.
SMG, ScP, and Shotgun nerf were really unneeded imo. If you want to get all conspiracy theory and put on a tin foil hat you could say it is CCP nudging people towards the new weapons. So your SP is sunk into more areas making you more commited to the game and making it more grindy so you have a higher likelyhood of spending money on AUR for booster. All part of the master plan... bwhahahahahahahahahahaha?
Good idea about not using the Cloak for a bit.
EDIT: Also, how does adding new weapons and changing the way weapons work NOT deserve a respec for weapons? It doesn't make sense... |

Getting behind them or whatever, to take them out. #2, is strategic. eg: Getting across a freakin wide-open area, to lets say the single Domination objective, without being blown to bits by the patrolling tanks and dropships. (and then dropping uplinks, presumably) Even if you dont want to play #1, as a scout you should be all fired up about #2.
True, but I'm used to taking back routes and swinging wide around the edges of the map to avoid the risk of being caught in the open. And you can get spotted anyways Cloaked by someone paying careful attention looking for the blue streak (if running). I imagine using it more for ambushing or escaping after being seen. Oh well, I will just wait and see :)

It helped in some situations, HOWEVER, I just had a match where EVERYONE WAS A HEAVY WITH A HMG... DA FUQ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Talk about face melting... died so many times I went starter suit. I can now see where CCP was coming from nerfing the Heavy. Geeze... oh and lots of tanks. Yay? |

Finally found a play style that meshes well for me in 1.8. I am able to kill those RAAAAAAGEGäó inducing heavies with face melting HMG's provided I get the drop on them and have cover... I am not taking advantage of my armor in this build because I am favoring EWAR over tank. I tried a couple beefier ones with 500 - 700+ eHP and it just didn't work out. With the build below I was able to use the Cloak to maneuver into position and then perform headshots with CRG at close range from behind preferably.
ADV Gallente Scout:
1x Advanced Precision Enhancers 1x Complex Shield Extender
1x Complex Kincat 1x Complex Damp 1x Complex Range Extender
1x Adv Cloak

For the most part yes. Some bugs and technical issues. Shotgun hit detection seems to be off... again. Getting hits that don't register. I think the Cloak is nice overall, but only the ADV version. Not a fan of the Standard as cloak doesn't last long enough and Proto the fitting requirements are too high to justify using it. It is a nice compliment to my sneaky tactics and lets me easily position myself behind people for headshots to the back of the dome at close range with my CRG.
One thing I don't like is the Heavies. Oh gawd lord almighty! I feel like a stick of butter in the microwave when I come across these guys and their HMG of DOOM... |

I think the call to nerf or remove the cloak is nothing but a knee jerk reaction to something new. I personally enjoy the cloak and it affords me to play as a specialized eWar fitting. If anything needs to be done to the cloak it is LOWER the shimmer for people walking and moving slower. Right now its the same as sprinting and walking from what I can tell. |

So 17.85 is the magic number with 2 complex precision enhancers? I currently have 17.5 with one complex damp without using cloak and 8.75 while cloaked as a proto skilled Gal Scout. Are these number rounded up by chance? Does 17.85 equal a tie to 17.5 in the eyes of the code? I remember someone saying a tie goes to the person scanning.
EDIT: Thanks for the table. Very helpful! |

I don't think they need to. Anyone having crazy problems killing heavies? I'm not. I think heavies are fine with their current EHP. If anything, I'd think they could get buffed just a touch more.
At first I was, now i'm not. I still need to be careful with them, but that is expected because my Scout is paper thin. They are probably fine the way they are eHP wise. HMG's on the other hand... not sure but man those things are melting me like a candle under a blowtorch. Most of my deaths are because i'm too reckless with attacking them or I miss the initial surprise headshot and the subsequent follow up shot before they unleash the power of the HMG on me. |
