If you're a Scout in the market for a corp/training or dig the idea of hunting alongside a pack of Raptors, I would encourage you to get in touch with these guys. o7
Happy Hunting, Shotty GoBang
EDIT: The above Corps aren't exclusive by weapon type, though their founders are specialists in their respective roles. You need only be a Scout or Light-Frame to apply.
Ok so not sure which one I should join if you'd have me, so if I describe where I'm at, let me know if you'd be interested in have me join.

Fitting profile:
Minmatar Advanced Scout Suit - usually run shotgun, been dabbling with plasma cannon - chose minmatar because --- I want to kill with knives --- but I've taken to use a pistol instead recently --- I like being fast - about to skill into level 4 minnie scout dropsuit - level 5 biotics and level 3 mobility for advanced kincats
Currently member of The Southern Legion, those guys are awesome and a great bunch but the timezone means I don't really get involved. I think I need to be in a corp who I can squad with easily when I'm on.
I'm not a great FPS player, never played one before really, but I am really trying with DUST and enjoying it. I'd say I'm average skill, and my KDR is gradually increasing (currently < 1) since joining in open beta, but always trying to figure out what I can do better. If someone was pointing it out to me when I do something silly, I'll get better still :)
R 0 N 1 N does sound like the one for me as it's probably closest to where I'm at by the sounds of it, but one day I want to be a serious nova knifer. Not sure Shotgun and Nova Knife work together well at the same time due to similar range.
Wow sorry waffle.....
Shotty if there's somewhere else I should be "applying" let me know - don't wanna clutter the thread with corp applications ;-) |

I used to run the imperial and cartham all the time on my scout but I have overheat problems with the Imperial and ammo problems with he cartham. They are really good but i have found myself using the tac ar more cause it fits my playstyle better when using a ranged weapon. Imperial on a scout can be uber deadly if used properly. I recommend not trigger pulling to fast that was my problem and i overheated almost every time i shot it. Hard to keep track of that 15th shot that overheats it or fifth follow up after a fully charged one. |

But seriously it was crazy fun. We should have knife matches in fw more often HAHA. Yeah. It's crazy fun. Most fun I have had was running a full Knife squad with Radar, Jacobi, Lightning, Myself, and a few others. Nothing beats watching a Med Frame run in fear from 6 very angry, very stabby scouts. So, if you want to, we can just make a small tournament. 5mil to enter, top three spots get the cash split up. Standard Elimination. We can even have a shotty division for sh*ts and giggles. I'm game to make this work. Anyone else? SIDE NOTE: It's 1:14 am CST Marauder. Go to sleep. Nuu it's only 11:16 over here I need to go to sleep. I got to go to school in like 7 hours See ya gent's on tomorrow. My clone will probably get a haircut, or go back to throwing knives at the dart board. (all while I sleep. Dang Clone gets to have all the fun). By the way, Since this is a Bar/Barbershop, Am I wrong to think that our suave bartender keeps pictures of all the departed scouts on the wall somewhere? At least we have something to drink to. So long brothers. You will be missed. So it has been agreed that the barbershop is the main floor, but through the far door and down the stairs lies the Bar. lol In the bar there are display cases with knives, sgs, smgs and snipers. Here's the best part gents. on the dart board, there are pics of assault suits, oh yeah! |

Well I haven't quite gotten the Imperial yet but I've been using the Advanced since may 14th, so now I manage to be careful enough to virtually never over heat, the only times I do are at long-med range when it's relatively safe to get that one extra killing shot off. |

Welcome to the fold, Brother. You'll be added to the Killboard on next update.
To date, I have disengaged precisely three Scouts: One was sniper, running like hell for the hills. She had shot at me a few times, but had yet to draw blood. One was a knifer, who flashed blades to offer challenge. I had only a shotgun and unfair advantage. One was shotgunner, who had worked his way around our flank and a pile allies. I hadn't the will to rob him of glory.
I have slain and been slain by countless Brothers. There is honor to be earned through assassins' duel.

I used to run the assault scrambler prior to 1.4, but that's no longer viable - too long time to kill, I die before I can finish most people. This made me try the regular/charged scrambler rifle, and I've been running it ever since. Mainly charged shots, perhaps followed by a couple of follow-up shots. It's excellent for letting me keep my distance in heated situations, and even better when flanking and sneaking around.
A well-placed, charged headshot OHKs many medium suits, most others going down if I can follow-up with a few uncharged ones. A good tactic that evades some of the overheat problems is to start out with a fully charged shot and follow up with a series of shorter charges. The letting go of the trigger is what drives the overheat meter upwards (not the actual charging), so charging a little between each shot naturally lets it cool down a little between each of them and delivers more damage per shot.
Also, an added bonus of this tactic is that I very rarely run out of ammo. I spend 1 to 5 shots on each kill - that makes a clip of 45 last a long time :-)
I have the operation skill at 5 - which is really worth it even if you're just using the advanced level Scrambler. The added cooldown speed is definitely noticeable. Also, I have the proficiency skill at 4, planning to get it to 5. With a high damage impact like the charged shots, upping the damage just a few percent is significant. I'm envying the Amarr assault that heat buildup reduction, though - I wish there was some way I could get access to it on my scout suit :-D |

I doubt this was me - but I've been giving the scrambler a go again, works well with the SMG, but ultimately the AR fits better and is more versatile and...this is AR 514 afterall . At certain ranges, it's hard to beat the ScR though.
On the topic of scout training corps, are there many 'vets' here who run a more recon/flanking (as opposed to 'infiltrating') type of gal scout with AR/ScR?
Most here seem to be 'Ryu Hayabusa's' rather than Solid Snakes. I do ok with this style of play, sneaking about maintaining range and I know there are crossovers in the playing styles (no scout can jump into the fray without considering many variables), but I'm not one to get in anyone's face unless it is a last resort (MDs and LRs... Though I love closing in on forge gunners in the open!). The shotgun is satisfying (only got NKs at STD, but can see they would be fun if they worked), but I just feel I'm putting myself in unnecessary danger.
A lot of the time I'm 'summoning' greens and blues with scanners and uplinks to get rid of enemies in the way of my objective.
Kinda feel like a scout outcast

I recommend you invest heavily in precision enhancement then, 'cause your sensitivities won't stop me from popping a hole in your sniper skull if I get the chance. If I get my way, it'll startle you so much you'll drop your controller too.
You go right ahead and shoot me from behind the redline too if that's your pleasure. It won't hurt my feelings.
I snipe too occasionally with advanced gear, and mostly in the hot zone.
Hurt feelings in a combat game never have impressed me much, nor am I inclined to cater to them. False expectations are little more than premeditated resentment. |
