I won't lie, in all honesty I never knew there was a headshot bonus for knives, so I always aim for center mass.
Nor have I ever received the headshot +60 for the knives. I will have to try this on the next sniper I find.

The thing that is silly about it is you OHK most things with a charged swipe, you get no acknowledgement of a headshot so you have no idea if you scored one or not, so who cares or pays attention to it anyways.
It would be great if we got a +60.

That is what I figured. Sometimes things happen so fast with my knife kills I can't tell where I hit. Occasionally I am surprised I got the kill as I didn't even see the guy in my field of view.

I've had similar thoughts on Destiny. Love the polish, wish it were persistent... knifing is "meh" but I'm a noob knifer anyway. Dig the scout rifle though, and I like the Hunter's armor. The fights are EZ but I did have fun with a bud on hard mode. Was much more enjoyable. Won't be a replacement for dust though (Dammit!) unless they up the persistency and consequence for death.

A little risky in that it might bring back the "Mass Chucker" build.
Core Locus nades + Nano hive.
Would mostly be a risk to Mediums. Both too slow to evade and not enough HP to tank it.
I did have the thought of giving a bonus to weapon behaviour per level across all Light weapons.
Reduced SR sway (like to the point of being non-existant).
Perhaps increased Optimal range as well on weapons (Including shotgun etc).
Maybe just 2% per level or maybe 3%
+5% per level to Clip Size.
Reduced weapon kick (especially on the RR)
etc etc.
You need to be the best at what you do but straight Buffing HP and/or DPS they just end up being fast heavys and we're back to pre 1.7/1.8 with mediums being a better heavy than a heavy.
There are more parameters to this game than HP/DPS and latterly EWAR. Yet it never gets discussed.

The thing is that Assault HP is far, far too close to a scout when you consider all the other bonuses scouts get.
That complete EWAR superiority over an Assault? Speed superiority? Equipment superiority? Those all have to come at a cost.
Currently the cost is around 50-100 HP if the scout is outfitted to be an Assault Scout.
Evidently, that's not enough.
Rattati mentioned that they're buffing base HP to between Logi and Commando.
With the Gallente Assault it would be:
From 120/210 to 170/290
Total HP from 330 to 460.
A good 130HP boost.

Rocking a Gal Scout with 900hp was possible pre 1.8 and only proto scanners could pick you up.
My proto "light assault" fit gained 1 complex shield extenders worth of HP.

I also feel the proposed assault hp buff is a good way to go. Firstly it is simple, don't underestimate the value of a simple solution.
Secondly it is new player friendly. I always thought assaults were meant to be a good solid new player option. I assume the proposed buffs would be applied to med frames as well. But even if it's only assaults there isn't as much of a barrier to getting into assaults as other classes. A straight up hp buff helps narrow the sp power gap unlike extra powerful bonuses.
Thirdly it should improve module diversity. Higher base hp makes hp mods comparatively less effective than other mods. The percentage hp increase of a plate would be less, whereas regen mods would become more effective as there is more hp to regen. Or players may feel more comfortable fitting for speed if they have a decent base hp to work with. For example, a comp shield extender on a min scout is approximately a 33% hp increase, whereas heavies tend to like to run shield rechargers or damage mods as a shield extender is only a small percentage hp boost.
I don't think an extra 100-130 hp on assaults would break anything, and should be all they need (along with the fitting buffs) to out assault the assault-scouts. That's all you need to get the 'slayers' back where they belong. |
