I hear you on the liter bike.. too heavy and way too fast :) 600s are way funner imho, and hell.. after all the aftermarket parts I may as well have a liter bike. If you guys get something going for motoGP down in laguna seca I'd ride down!
Most of the newer bikes come with the engine map selector switch which will switch the software to map different air/fuel/timing parameters to limit the output of the bike. Usually they go mode "A" for no electronic intervention, mode "B" for same top end power but with less output in lower RPM ranges for slower acceleration, and mode "C" for it's raining and I only need 70 HP.....
And a lot of newer liter bikes have traction control now... but I'd rather just have a good 600 or a 750 and own. Light is right and skill > electronic riding gizmos!
I've never made it to Laguna... I always seem to be working but if I do I'll let you know! Been to Moto GP Indy. It was awesome! Come to think of it, I went with a fellow-scout...!
-- Back on topic --
that invisible shotgunner post is really scary... I'm in awe that he thinks current scouts are OP. A few scout teams are seriously talented, but i doubt very many individual scouts are OP. Sure, a few. The suit sure isn't.... the play style sure isn't. |

Through taking part in the heavies event I'm starting to understand why there's this misconception on the relative OPness of scouts.
Had a match where I kept running up against a shotgun scout who was quite good. I think he got me three times out of five while I was running a 1200 EHP heavy, and two of those were from full health. He was able to get up close as soon as my back was turned from quite a distance, even though I was constantly scanning, and by the time I'd turned around to respond to the blasts to the back of the head I'd already be into armor. Added to that, once I could see him, he was so close that he would effectively be standing inside my arc of movement and maintaining a track was difficult.
I can see how this could appear to be lag/rendering issue to someone, even though the reality was just exploiting the limited field of view and his speed and willingness to get up close an personal
The funny thing is, as a strat, this would be just as effective with a medium suit if they were willing to run up and stand next to a heavy/medium to get the kill.
Most scout use binary fits, where you either very rapidly overwhelm the opposition, or very rapidly die. People only remember the rapid overwhelming bit because they think it shouldn't be possible from a suit that falls apart if you frown at it, and not how easy it is for them to kill a scout if they catch them out.

its even funnier, that its also effective (albeit more difficult) in a heavy suit

Ha! I didnt just "happen" to turn around.... I was in hunt mode. I was actively looking for an excuse to stab someone. Dont feel bad... you werent the only one
Normally, I use knives on heavy, for objective anti-hacking. That being said... one of my best knife kills, was when I snuck up on some medium or light frame... it was a partially enclosed area. And the poor fool backed into a corner. So then of course I had to switch to knife and finish him off
I think my record so far is 6 knife-by-heavy kills in one match. Sweet, sweet gallente labs...

Update on the "heavy, with knives " situation.
I actually brought a knife.. to a GUN FIGHT. We were in one of those "downstairs x2" plugin objective facility thingies. Were on the lowest level where the letter was.
He ran out of bullets on whatever, I ran out of bullets on my HMG... so I switched to knives.
but the idiot stays close to me. Me, the HEAVY, who has nothing but knives available???
So instead of him running away to get a bit of distance... he decides to crouch down, to "avoid" my knives.
might actually have worked, if I wasnt a more aware knife user.
So.. tilt down, and Swish at my feet.
I still cant believe that one. weiirirrddd...

What would you be doing if the events had no limits? Would you just be playing 24/7 so you could get the absolute maximum you could out of the time? Why aren't we all just playing for the fun, rather than all the min/max nonsense people put themselves through in Dust? This right here, I like sp as much as the next guy, but I'm not even bothered trying to max it. Hell, I only ever maxed the standard weekly cap once.
It has nothing to do with the event but more so that there is a weekly cap. Weekly cap is stupid and it's really the only way ccp makes any money off this game.
Sp is very important, or you wouldn't have people paying money for boosters. Not capping makes you half as much sp every week and it adds up fast. Maxing out an event can help lessen that gap.
I actually played for a couple hours this week to get some of that extra sp before I finally got tired of dust again and went back to a different game.
I looked at the weekly kills on the leader board and only 100people have hit 1500 so far, and that's likely not 100% heavy kills. Events are meant to be completed IMO. It gives a sense of accomplishment. When you can't finish them, you feel like you "missed out" a balance needs to be struck. The scout event was a pretty decent challenge. The heavy event is quite outrageous.

Oh, a new registry :( that's a shame. We don't need a new registry. We have the original list here and even making a new one now, you'd just end up with the med frames who have converted early in anticipation of the FOTM. The true registry of the vet scouts will always and only ever be here and we know that everyone on that list deserves to be there, despite all the sht we've had to put up with for the past 8 months.
BTW - just discovered there's an actual speakeasy in Edinburgh where you have to go through a real Barbershop to get in! Going there on Friday

Rahhhh! So I've got a few variations on Hunter suits; Gal Logi, Cal Logi, Cal Assault, Min Scout, and Gal Scout with Precision Enhancers. Pretty much just stand ins for my Caldari Scout. I pull them out when I or a squad mate dies to a proto scout.
My Gal-Scout is lacking until 1.8 and I get that Second High Slot. The Min-Scout is lacking until I get that Third Low Slot. Cal Assault? Meh. It's there to test it out. Lacking the base stats and number of slots to do what I want. Cal Logi? Eff yes. Gal Logi? Only on Defense
I shared the Gal Logi one on the Nos Nothi board. letting yourself be scanned is so much better for RE traps... while I truly loath how far you can throw an RE and how quick they detonate. Love the tactical uses of them, but using them as OP grenades is just getting ridiculous. 6 man squads of tanks and/or 6 man squads of RE spammers. That is all I ran into yesterday... That stuff is totally out of hand now.

The problem is you need to be able to throw them a decent distance to be viable to get on the tanks with less chance of being noticed. As far as activation time goes, not sure really. I have had moments where they take forever to detonate, or I've set them off just as someone turns and we both die. Eve hit the button once only to be killed by the RR of the guy I killed Don't know if that is Lag, spool time on the RR being faster than the RE or whatGǪ Just know that it has happened to me. I know that when i am setting them down I can be twenty metres away before they show as active on my Tac. Don't really know if that is to fast or not.
