You really put in a petition after all the off topic trash that has gone on in here since the move.
I think we can establish a new thread once 1.8 drops to discuss (in public) all things new concerning scouts but this thread has jumped the shark and is way to big to be still in general.

Hmm.. well, let me walk you through the logic. If something is a mistake in the first place, then no shark was jumped. To say this thread was derailed off topic is to say this game had proper development direction, and it hasn't. The thread never got derailed. It was in stasis, the community just waiting. Once 1.8 drops this thread will resume, for the most part.
CCP Frame's decision to put it in the locker room was arbitrary, and based on the recent content which could go no where save where it went because it has been over a year since scouts were changed. You can only discuss the same **** so much. The whole decision to move it is like a parable for the state of the game that CCP Frame ironically missed. Once 1.8 drops, this thread will take off on the new content.. in the locker room? Wut? I know that nothing involved with dust is proactive.. I mean, god forbid. But lets turn a new leaf, correct the mistake, and be proactive. Plus- wtf. this is the best aspect out of all of the dust community via the forums. Best fuc K that up too? no no no. Let;s call it for the mistake it was, and correct it.

Our squad of scouts just had the most epic moment, it was me, Yan Darn, Maken Tosch, Lorelei Zee, Shotty Mayhem and Phalad Sahantun, my logi corpmate. We were all playing on the Gallente Research Facility.
There was this guy named TonZa, using a commando suit with a proto rail rifle, who was really annoying. On the ramp that's outside rhe CRU on B objective, we saw the commando coming up. So every single one lf us just waited around the corner, patiently waiting for this commando to waddle up the ramp. And just when he cleared the corner, he was being knifed and shot at by all six of us.
We were just laughing our assess off as the commando instantly panicked and backed up while we slaughtered him, it was the most epic moment ever.

I was kinda hoping my RE would get him, so the last thing he'd see was a squad of scouts stood around him (as if the mere precense of so many scouts was enough to make him explode), but I think it was more epic this way.
New Eden was reminded to fear scouts today o7

hehe - I just find it funny you would put in a petition given how the thread shifted. I didnt agree when the thread was moved but it was - and it devolved.
I understand your point and thats fine. I would prefer a more streamlined thread going forward as we have Nos Nothi anyhow but that is just my opinion - no need for panties in bunches and the like. On CCP and rules and justification for move to move back - whatever; they cant walk and chew gum so I'm good with whatever happens.

So many people complain that it's so hard to max out every event but is it really that important to do so? Does it matter that you might miss out on a few thousand SP? SP isn't even that important at all anyway!
What would you be doing if the events had no limits? Would you just be playing 24/7 so you could get the absolute maximum you could out of the time? Why aren't we all just playing for the fun, rather than all the min/max nonsense people put themselves through in Dust?

Granted, I very nearly spent 900k on level 5 precision (probably will in 1.8) and could get my last 2 levels in dampening and may get a proto minnie scout in 1.8 as a replacement hacking suit but those are all big optionals to me. I certainly don't understand why anyone would go out of their way to get the absolute max.
Is gaining SP all people really strive for in this game? Surely playing games should be about having fun? And, yes I totally understand that CCP has scarcely given us the 'tools' to create our own fun but collecting SP? Surely, that's not it?

I would be happy to have the thread back in the general section.... it's a classic. An institution... it's an archive colorfully written by interesting characters.
It's better than every other thread on the forums put together.
It will resume with it's share of scoutly discussion after 1.8 drops, and it will continue to have OT discussion as is well and good, and expected in a bar full of pirates, bastards and thieves.
On bikes, so we have:
Me (SV650) Quil (SV650s) Mollerz (600rr) Noob (1100xx)
Awesome. You guys have some nice rides! I've got a custom Penske double shock, fork internals, steel lines, etc... I only knee-down at the track though. I'm missing a true sport bike, however, and was considering getting another one. Maybe a GIX-750 (they need to make more 750 sport bikes....)
As for racial shotguns - I'm all for it, but I'd like to see racial knives and more racial sidearms as well. Maybe some Gallente SMG or Amarr SMG. I am not enthused about the Gal ION Pistol. Was it Arkena that made that great stat-filled post about it sucking? That was right on.... |

Funny thing about that... I usd to have a gs500. I've taken both bikes up through 'the snake", on Mulholland Drive. The sv650 is in theory, more of a "sport bike" than the gs500. Yet, seems like I could turn the gs500 a little more easily. I find this purplexing, and puzzling :(
PS: I've come off twice, both times on my gs500. Which is why I sold it. I wanted something "prettier" than the mess left behind But both times, i came off when I was trying to do "knee down" type things. So I figure I should probably stay away from the track. Sigh....

The real reason there aren't more 750s is it is a niche bike. There aren't any 750 races really. It's all about liter bikes or 600s. Even watching races I prefer the 600s... much more room for squirrelly back end antics

It's because of the bike weight. An SV650 weighs a lot more than a gs500. That's why I took my 600rr weight down as much as possible. It weighs less than 300lbs dry, and has the HP jacked up. It gives me the best of both worlds.. low weight and more raw power at the rear wheel.
If you were losing it in turns I'd have to say your tires were not up to par!

That's funny, Quil - I also used to have a GS500. As I recall the tires are skinnier allowing better ability to flick from side to side (along with the previously mentioned lower weight), but they are also bias-ply tires... definitely older technology which is lacking compared to modern day sportbike radials.
I live in downtown LA. We should hook up for a ride sometime (I thought you were overseas?) if you are around... Mulholland is close but for me I prefer riding the Angeles Crest Highway... for my 4 wheel antics I like Glendora Mountain Road.
Mollerz, on the 750's... yeah, it is only Suzuki that still makes them out of company pride. That would be my perfect size as I've had 600's before and 1000 is a bit too much stress for me every time I've ridden them fast. But manufacturers need to cater to the racing scene, and 600's sell the best... oh well.

It's because of the bike weight. An SV650 weighs a lot more than a gs500.
Err... maybe you're thinking about a 750 or something?
gs500F dry, 180kg sv650s dry, 172kg (not that I'm a kilos kinda guy, but thats what the spec sheet gives it in :)
There's just something about the geometry, or the way my old gs500 forked were tweaked, or... I dunno. Maybe its the front tire like Monk says. 110/70 gs500, vs 120/60 sv650 stock. Me no likey.
ObDUST514: wouldnt it be fun if they allowed handling mods to the supposed speeder bikes, like you can mod real bikes?
Oh and PS to Monk: yeah, shoot me an ingame message!
btw, i took my sv650 through GMR, following a friend. Umm.. wow. Laguna Seca? who needs it?

Wow... my bad. Typically, a bigger engine equates to more weight since that adds the most weight to the bike. That gs500 must just have a heavy ass frame on top of everything.
But yes- Your tires are what connects you to the road, and once they slip in a turn there's not much you can do. On my bike I'll lose the rear tire all day and smile. Losing the front tire is never ever good... and i've never had the misfortune. I used to like Metzeler tires but have since moved over to Pirellis and never looked back. Metzelers have a V shape to them vs pirellis U shape.. It makes transitions in twisties a smoother experience, although I feel like Metz have better grip in wet conditions (not really an issue in SoCal for the most part).

Didn't Suzuki make newer 750s with a switch that let you got from 750CCs to 600?
I hear you on the liter bike.. too heavy and way too fast :) 600s are way funner imho, and hell.. after all the aftermarket parts I may as well have a liter bike. If you guys get something going for motoGP down in laguna seca I'd ride down!
