Gal Logi is gonna be scanning like crazy, and you KNOW that will pick up every non-gal scout indefinitely.

Either reduce its bonus so a scout can avoid a gal logi proto scanner with 1 cmp damp or change the bonus so it gives a range bonus instead of a precision bonus.

Scanners/profile need to be rebalanced. Hardcore. If a scout gets scanned his effectiveness is battle is decreased by epic proportions.
A gal logi will make 3/4 of scouts worthless on the battlefield.

Yeah, thinking of this a bit more ... why should scouts lose a second weapon slot for the second equipment slot? And I REALLY want a second equipment slot. But at that point ... if you want to run a stealth suit, you can choose to go scout w/ no eHP, one weapon, and two equipment slots ... or logi, with more base eHP, more slots, more CPU/PG, one weapon, and up to four equipment slots..? I don't see how cloaking will be any tougher to fit on a logi suit than a scout suit, even with the scout bonus figured in...
Hopefully, some clarity will be coming soon...
Right now, there's still an awful lot left unsaid, as far as what other ways the suits might be changing, etc... |

Probably not in any sort of foreseeable future.
The only way I'd go literally knives only is if the minmatar was the stealthiest and the best at cloaking. Both of which it is not going to be good at.

How loud will CCP make the cloak hum when activated?
They love sound cues (hmg spool-up, equipment deployment, forge crackle, bullet ricochet, nova knife swipes, etc) so I'm sincerely doubting that activate/deactivate will be the only sfx.
Today is the sort of day where the sun only comes up to humiliate you.

it upsets me that things get so muddled with trolling and any useful info gets buried so deep
in any case its nice to know that beginner scouts will have a chance of evading the scan now instead of just all of the old guys
sad that a guy with lvl 1 Gal Logi can completely negate 3/4 of the races scouts no matter how cool we are (LVL2 if you have dampening to 5) without even going proto, but that we will have to use 1 of our very limited slots and almost a million SP just to stay relevant at the advanced lvl.

You and I had back'n'forth regarding the utility of cloaks. I saw them as lowering the scout talent pool; you saw them as a scout Swiss army knife, useful in many situations.
While I still have no plans to use cloaks, I'll admit that I sure used the hell out of my sidearm. At least it gave me the ability to directly earn WP, instead of being an augment to skills already in MY toolbox.
(here's your chance to doubt my abilities as a scout for using such a crutch)

If I can look out and pick up mercs moving then I really dont want to hear about any nerfs. At the moment just a quick look in hills and you can spot most people. Its only if they are tucked in between hills do you need to listen for gun fire.

The sound for decloaking should be the same as the decloak sound for someone spawning in. This would allow you to get near an objective and not stand out like crazy. You'll just sound like another person spawning in. Outside of spawn locations this sound will be a little weird. I'm alright with cloak/decloak sounds.
There definitely should not be any more sound indicators other than footsteps/your normal movement sounds for cloaks while traversing. Every added downside to cloaks makes them more and more useless/impractical to use and just a gimmick that everyone will get tired of equipping real quick.

Being new here to this game compared to you true vet scouts, (I know who you are, you know who you are), I feel I do not have much to say, contribute in regards of, if anything, I spew my climb of trials and tribulations towards scout worthiness. I admire and respect those who are trying to intelligently fix the role of, and methodically bring the class to its intended stature to what it should be.
CPM's, I understand and appreciate the liaison work that you have done and the information you have provided, But, My thought, It be nice if a round table of true discussion of the demise of the scout would be brought forth with true full time scouteers, CPM's who are indeed scouts, and a CCP that has open ears.
Since my inception of the game, 4 months now, I have witnessed and experienced some heavy changes to play, but wishful hugs and loves for scout since. I based my choice as scout because I was more less led to think that it is only temporary to be semi gimped scout role. Better things around the corner for the scout. So, I stick with it. Now the talk of is full on rampant with everybody all up in up.
Back on track, I think a round table type of event is in order instead of settling on what actually is reveled, tried, and soon nerfed or....
ain't we just a passionate bunch...

On cloak fittings -- I have two important things to say.
First off: i hope all you guys who QQ'd at me about my cloak slot fitting ideas, are really really sorry now
Now, to the more important bit: Given the "trade" CCP has now stated they are looking to force upon us; How many would prefer instead one of the variants I suggested previously: making cloak a WEAPON slot. May I suggest in particular, the sidearm slot.
That way,
- Those who prefer to run two weapons instead of cloak, can do so - We get quick-toggle to get to cloak and out of it - only amarr logi will be able to fit the cloak. So we wont have to deal with cloaked gallente logis.
I mean.. two eq slots are nice an all.... but that really just turns us into a "light logi suit". Perhaps an almost as nice idea could be to petition CCP to explicitly add a "light logi" varient from light frame, and leave existing scout suits alone. (but that doesnt get the "medium logis wont be able to fit cloak" advantage) |
