I cant believe I have even been noticed - Truly humbled good sirs!!!
Have no clue about my amount of kills - will check that and post once I get home from work. My KDR is around 0.85 and what I have found is that even though my FPS game isnt great, being a scout forces me to play much more realistic than just running and gunning and giving away my life cheaply as I did with assault.
I have two scouts - scrambler / flaylock which I hope to change to a combat rifle / flaylock and my main scout - knives and remote explosives. |

Your vote of confidence is much appreciated, Zatara, but 'beastly' may be misleading . My KDR of 2.20 is among the lowest in my corp, and is well below recruitment thresholds for other corps. I have gone positive only a few times in PC. At 11M SP (invested primarily in CQC weaponry, biotics and shields), I lose Isk in 50% of ambush pubs and 80% of other game modes should I wear proto gear.
I havent reached proto yet but I cant theoretically justify using it on my sneaky scout. The one extra high slot can give some more shields but really not enough to make a considerable difference given price of the suit.
If you are an assassin then Adv Knives are good enough imo and std remote explosives do just fine. My suit is 21k and I cant see how proto will make me more deadly given the jump in cost. |

Have to confirm - Snuck home and had an extended lunch to get in some time.
I hope CCP gives the light frame class a .2 m/s or .3 m/s movement speed increase and a .5 m/s sprint speed increase to at least let the suits feel as before and aid a bit in evading battles.
After a game or two I got the hang of it but would much prefer feeling zippy again.
Hit detection much improved but bullet fall off working as expected. I was tickled by an HMG and was able to stay just outside his range and was also able to escape and SMG while feeling it. AR's can be an issue though.
Also a shame about Novas - I got behind a guy and wasnt able to get him after 2-3 swings so I just pulled out my AR. Another time I got 2 opponents at an objective but my swings completely missed the first guy. Killed one but got blasted by the other. Another time it worked perfectly so it is kind of hit and miss at the moment.
Want to try new modules but sadly my Adv cant support them in my setup. 3x weekend came just in time. |

Agreed.
But ARs and TACs usually get you if there isnt a corner to duck around.

While I hear all the objections and agree that it probably wont give an accurate picture, I thought we were all in here for fun and camaraderie. We are all working on the honour system in here and the board already breaks down kills and shows high and low K/D etc.
We dont know how players at the top amassed most of their kills or how players that are flying up the board now are doing it either so adding that wouldnt really tip the scales either way.
I understand the reasoning and its fine by me. |

My adv fits run 20k, proto is 100k+ so they stay hanging in the closet for now.
Cant believe you are complaining - you can make your proto faster with more stamina than a minnie suit or faster with armor/repair/hack.
Yeah we have shields and that can be a quick buffer if we play right but I am thinking about just going damage mods since my shields are disappearing quick anyway. If we get a price reduction I think that will be my play. |

How do ya figure, sports fan? 4x proto kincats suffer from stacking penalties and top you out at 11m/s IFF you are willing to run tier 1 gear in every other slot. I like your math better than CCP's. Plus you're about as thick as a durex with no armor rep. Good luck w that! You only need 3 kin cats to be faster than a Minmatar suit which leaves space for cardiac reg / shield reg / armor etc etc
If you are a scout and attempting to be evasive all of that can be very helpful.

Like some of the other stuff though. Notice that non of my proposed 'improvements' or additions mentioned anything about increasing HP. This means that in combat, the scout has to 'punch above its weight class' so to speak. This makes the paradigm of a glass cannon a real viable option. Right now slapping a damage mod on a high slot is completely stupid for a Min Scout and suicide for a Gallente Scout. The former Tac AR would've been a great Scout Marksman weapon -- I would've adjusted hipfire to today's levels, and bumped ROF down to a bit above today's levels, and kept mag size to 24 for all Tac ARS. This damage buff doesn't apply to all Scout Suits, but a variant of it that specializes in high damage output with low HP -- glass cannon type. Or maybe make it apply to Scouts using a scoped weapon like say, a Tac AR, Sniper Rifle, Scrambler Rifle, Plasma Cannon (more like sights for the SR and PC...but you get the point).
Nope overkill - You want damage plus speed plus hitbox allowing you to play less tactical than you should. Also imagine if with all of that you do slap on damage mods - If we did that then the scout would have to lose a high slot.
If a scout wants high damage then they can use a sniper, shotgun or sneak well and flank or surprise with Tac/ScR. Its the same argument I make against logis, lose HP or slots to force them to play more tactical and depend on squad.

I hate to break it to those of you, but you guys are probably the only ones still playing by the 'rules'. Meanwhile, everyone in their Assault/Logi (and to some extent the Heavies in Commando) suit is wrecking everything outside the box doing things more effectively than you at the 'role' you presume to excel at because 'that's how scouts are to be played'.
Unless of course, you want to be the one to tell the 'Cal Logies' of this world: 'Hey that's not how your suit is meant to be played!' while they ignore you as you lie bleeding out and getting tea bagged repeatedly. Good luck!
Someone even claimed that the Scout Sniper is the only thing working as intended? And how was it intended? To play second fiddle to a Logi who's highs are decked with damage mods, and lows with armor plates, while standing on a number of repair nanos, right next to an uplink in the unlikely event he get's killed? Please. You're na+»vet+¬ is adorable.
Wake up. If you're argument about how the scout isn't supposed to be so and so is the only thing you're hanging on to, then you just haven't been playing at the level of Dust that others in here call home. Whatever improvements those of us are trying to imagine in here serves also to benefit those content to play in pub games.
You're just going to have to trust your 'big bros' on this one. And please please, don't be the enemy what we're trying to do here.
While I understand where you are coming from it is a mountain built on so much wrong but its because CCP is failing at carving out strict boundaries for the classes in their attempt to allow you to use whatever modules you want.
I think they are better off dropping light and heavy and just making one "suit" you customize the way you want because they struggle mightily in foreseeing the natural exploits. |

Dont want to keep this going in this awesome thread so I will just end with this.
I know there is no going back and I'm fine with that but I want CCP try to reign in some of the classes to force players to be more squad dependent.
If you want to be a heavy sniper that is fine but a sentinel with a Sniper Rifle should offer no benefit. Same with Logis, they should lose slots or restrict slot allocation to force them to use modules other than just multiple extenders or damage mods.
Just imagine the scenario where a logi is actually vital - he can hack in a blink, resupply widely and heal but he isnt as durable, so the squad need to protect him and move into areas in a more organized manner. A scout needing to stick to cover or play off his squad for distraction and infiltration.
I thought that is what they are trying to achieve because as it is now if you can pick another class and skill it to make the actual specialist role insignificant then what is the point.
They should have big boundary ideas like "Class A skillled in a certain area using x number of mods should not be better than Class B in that area" - From there you work back to make all customization operate in that space.
Anyways - enough rant, I support your other points and hope CCP clearly state what they want to achieve in the realization of the suits and am looking forward to seeing the next iteration of logi rebalancing and how they will improve the scout. |

I'm level 5 Gallente w/a couple three range amplification (80% bonus), and I regularly round corners into the laps of unregistered fatties. what is your precision. a fatty with lvl 3 profile dampening and 2 basic profile dampeners will be invisible to you if you have not leveled up your precision.
I have level 3 precision and assaults / tanks etc disappear around corners or small hills even though i just seen them.

Thanks for all the analysis on the skills. I have cut off my precision at Lv3 and wont invest in dampening since I only have two low slots. Much respect to Ivan Avogadro who always advocated staying away from it. I may continue to add to my range amplification when I have SP to spare.
Had no real issues with tacnet, if you squad it seems fine and thats a good thing. I also had fun with people trying to scan me (lets me know they might be close). A group were trying to enter the facility and scanned three times before they entered that allowed me to alert the heavy hitters to get there and massacre them.

So true - my plight.
And I dont think CCP understand how their slot layouts with only slightly differing base stats between classes allow those classes with the higher slot count to all but supercede the class meant to fill that role.
I would give your entire post a +1 as I agree with most of it but your setup works because you went the archetype route. The draw of this game is that you have the ability to create what you want to fight with. Most CQC scouts will need Red and Greens and there is no getting around that. The whole notion of the game should be played where the scout is never seen is fine but once detected you should still have the opportunity to escape and that is the fact IWS doesnt seem to acknowledge.
With the the new assist in aiming that is what is most difficult for me. If I stay and fight I have no issue with a death but when I dont even have a moment to flee it becomes frustrating.
Played some last night again and its the same story - AR's - Most other weapons that arent OHKs I can still dodge some and have a chance or stay alive a few seconds before death. ARs are instantaneous almost.
I also think the new scouts stealth advantage is being overblown - yes we have an edge and scanning is more now of use but its not like all mediums and heavies just show up like a christmas tree - they can sneak and surprise too. |

Once again not sure about tacnet changes aiding scouts - sometimes I beast with flanking but not sure if its my profile or the enemy not paying attention. I have had instances where Mediums are just around a corner or behind a rock and fail to show up even though I just saw them.
Stealth can work for most if careful. Scouts only show worth where scanners are being used.

Think its safe to assume that the majority of Tier IV and V are Proto Scouts. In my personal experience, running high-end gear helps with the KDR but at massive expensive: - Started last build at 2.30 KDR and ~130 million Isk.
- Ended last build at 2.46 KDR and ~118 million Isk.
- Earned a 20M paycheck from corp.
So my humble KDR increase of 0.16 over 30 or so days cost at estimated 32 million Isk. ... and I ran proto gear under 50% of the time! To turn a profit in proto gear, you can only afford to die once or twice per match. This is a realistic goal for AR-514 proto bears, but is beyond difficult for non-sniper Scouts in 1.4. I'll be running Advanced gear for the majority of this build. Hoping to recoup lost funds :-) - Shotty
My cheapest Proto is my AV one which is 85k - the other two are 115k and 156k approx
I'm not even close to good enough to make that work so I stay in Adv around 25k - 45k suits. I can die like 5 or 6 times and still profit and on my good games where I die 3 or less I can bank. Gave myself a stipulation, I'll build up my proto arsenal with winnings and only use them in certain situations.
I am at 190 million ISK
Good to see you made up with your corp. |

What's sad is that Minmatar Scouts are technically supposed to be faster then Gallente Scout, but the Gallente Scout (with all base stats up) still out performs them. ugh -_- Minmatar is kind of the worst race to be. Throughout the Universe the race's theme is low HP, high base speed, low CPU/PG Gallente is always the best when it comes to a Speed vs HP balance. Take those high slots and use damage mods and run an AR. Flank them from a distance. Let the Gallente charge in and blast them away. Your nova knife bonus is a gimmick and not suited for he Suit's attributes at all.
If we dont get an additional low slot I think we should definitely get a slightly higher movement speed and a higher sprint speed.
Agree on using damage mods. Hopefully Combat Rifle (whenever it comes) will work out to scare AR users.
I assume CCP wanted us (Min Scouts) to use Precision mod or Melee mod in the 3rd High slot but just dont see them being worth it. |

It worked out surprisingly well. Oddly enough there were still times people snuck up on me...and it should be about 25m passive range at 35dB. It wasn't consistent with frames who did sneak up on me....even heavys.
Dropped in at a CRU on one of those mid level bases (with the objective on the lowest level) - went up the stairs to go outside and surprise surprise a Heavy mows me down at the top step.
Nothing showed up on radar.
And please dont let me start on disappearing tanks and dropships overhead - Tanks within 75m should stay on radar regardless.

Tactically I am running the knives similar to how I run my shotgun but a bit more causious. I avoid all direct contact and take off if spotted (usually). Sometimes I can't resist killing an ar user with my pistol. Any general advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. You got good shield, I would use a shield regulator and drop the green juice, for a hawaiian puch. Think like a ninja, you need to get up close and personal with any target. Linger for the right time to strike. Use unconventional routes to flank your targets. The more you play with them the more aggressive you'll be. In cqc it is easy to lose sight of your target. When you shank, do a quick turn in the direction they went. Pay attention to the left knife as it has an arc. I almost forgot about the pesky A. scanners. so use an adv dampener in one of L slots.
I run:
High slots: 1 enhanced shield extender. Low slots: 1 Complex Kin Cat and 1 enhanced cardiac reg. Primary weapon: Basic Scrambler - Waiting on RS-90 CR Side arm: ZN knives Equipment: remote explosives. Grenade: Flux
With the basic Scrambler my suit cost under 25k - Its very good for prowling and attacking when they least expect it. If you keep your distance then the minimal shield isnt much of an issue but anything in range and you are out like a light.
Hoping the CR will be a happy medium between the ScR and AScR

Oswald Rehnquist wrote:I"m just throwing my Christmas List Scout Hotfix that I am hoping to see from CCP, and I am not just listing topics, we all mostly agree on the items that need boosted but I was curious on what you guys thought on the actual numbers, let me know if I'm breaking something.
I particularly like the first one
1) Profile Signature and Precision drop down from 45 to 40
- Doing this will save cpu and will functionally give the scout one extra low slot
--40 (.9) (.75 )= 27,
- Which is dead on where it needs to be considering the high level of sp investment it takes to get it there to beat a cheaper equipment item. This is also useful since high slot scouts (min/cal) will be suffering choice wise since low slots are so important (its why the gal is better than the min at the moment), it also frees up the gal scout for better cqc survival.
- Reduce Dampening mods by a factor of 5% to bring them in line with precision enhancers. This will also reduce the logi/medium "scout" phenomena, while making it hard for the scout to beat the focus
2) Base Stamina increase from 200 to 300
- This increases sprint duration from 20 seconds to 30 seconds
- Since CCP has a very low unofficial and now untested speed cap, stamina can be used to help alleviate the issue
3) Increase movement/sprint by .5 for each scout, and see how well that works
-The hit detection can account for this small increase
4) Fall Damage needs to be reduced by 80%
-Because of its current iteration, scouts one main defensive feature is cut incredible short due to this short fall, in fact the scout under duress has less escape options than the other dropsuits due to the high cost of fall damage on the scout.
Wild Card
Stealth Hacking- Doesn't notify that an objective is being hacked until it enters the contested state
I like this one because this would make scouts extremely useful in PC/FW/Skirmish on this factor alone.
I would eliminate Fall damage altogether - Scout should only die if he falls from too high and fails to trigger dampeners.
Also, increase the stamina regen greatly instead of boosting the stamina and sprint duration. If the regen is fine you really wont worry about the other two that much and you could easily forego greens for shield regulator or hacking module etc. Unless you just want crazy stamina and will be constantly sprinting and bunny hopping. |

I wont go overboard on that though until I see it in action but they could have put effects on certain weapons like how MD had it. Weapons like MD, PC, FP - maybe even SMG (if they turned down some of its damage)

CCP may have done a great job with 1.7. It certainly seemed that way the morning of release. But right now there's really no way get a read on the improvements. Not with the current state of combat, match after match. "Slowing tanks down" isn't going to fix the problem. CCP needs to either give us tools to pop these things, or make it hurt the wallet -- badly -- when one actually gets popped.
TL;DR - Tank Spam is overshadowing all the good things 1.7 has delivered. Absolutely. Honestly, tank spam and the lack of scout love are the only two problems I have with 1.7. The rest is pretty great.

If it can be hotfixed now, why wait an entire month? Edit: FF hotfix inbound for Mon/Tue. Fingers crossed for an included HAV fix.

I made a fit like that last week but so far just use CR too much and forget to pull out my knives when I should - Put Lv1 in SMG and just use that as my failsafe now - just love CR too much atm.
Do have a ScR with Novas though - that is my assassin fit but havent had the patience lately to play it right. Also shouldnt have gone past Lv3 on Knives since I am not skilled at taking down groups. ZN-28 is really all I needed for snipers and stragglers.
If they do give a respec I should have a nice reserve; already making my list of cutbacks |

I dont think it should be a mini mass driver though - it should be more like a mini missile installation. - Not that it should shoot multiple missiles but that it should kill/cripple a target once you hit it.
It just needs the proper buff to damage and blast radius and maybe a slight reduction to RoF
Dont reinvent the wheel, just tweak it back so its closer to where it was when it came out. With hit detection and AA where they are now, rifle and smg users could easily cope. |

So - you are cloaked for a few seconds upon spawn. You can pick where you want to spawn
That isnt some great advantage
I should give up a weapon for that ?????
Its the same as people saying they wouldnt give up their re / uplinks for a cloak as they will just use their natural stealth techniques. - No its even worse.

Cloak as equipment - Use it for set period of time - Short cooldown Only breaks when switched off or time runs out. Obviously you have to switch off to shoot Cant be broken by scanners visually but can reveal location on tacnet (no chevron on hud) Higher cloaks increase duration or reduce cooldown
Cloak as module - Can stay activated indefinitely - Long cooldown Breaks when you sprint, shoot, hack, use installations. You can jump or drop off ledges and remained cloaked. Higher scanners break cloak

@Quill - you can always spawn in MCC or home base.
Any scout who knows an area is overrun is going to relocate, stay at distance or spawn to a safe area.
Why spawn in cloaked and will then have to break cloak in a fortified area. |

This right here. Quill, just stop. Light Weapon? really? No, that is an awful idea. It really only works as a high slot. When it comes out 1 of two things has to happen, either (A) we get a second equipment slot or (B) it is a module. Scanning bonus and making it easier to deploy uplinks as Remnant suggests really only has those two options.
I think out of the light weapon, equipment, slot options, slots are thy most unlikely to happen, unless you got some sort of dev secrets, I'd like to see you think this is happening. Due to wording I personally think its going to be equipment, which is fine but you guys are giving 0 reasons for why the light weapon is a bad idea Light Weapon Slot prosA) Prevents AR Cloak 514 B) Harsh trade off allows for a strong cloak C) Balances across frames, 1) he already powerful logi loses offensive if they cloak 2) Comamndos now can actually fulfill their role due to their slot allocation D) Gives people reason to not run the cloak beyond hard counters I'm equally open for active modules, light weapon, or equipment options, and I can give a pro / con to any implementation but saying "no" doesn't really cut it for an argument and is kind of a pet peeve of mine. That is just lazy, not that any of us are immune to bad ideas but at least walk through the idea of why it is a bad idea. Enlighten us as you will. It may not be what you like, so you can tell us how this interrupts you dream build but I don't see how it is a bad idea, its seems feasible, and balance is obtainable with it as a light weapon, which I'm sure its possible to balance it under different implementation. Though I am curious on how you are seeking a balance with a high slot module, is it going to be an active module or a constant weak camo?
But his "pro" was rather weak - why would you want to spawn cloak in an overrun area only to have that cloak break once you have to get out of there.
His main reasoning was he wanted to spawn cloak and not lose uplinks because a team could be redlining you. That is a very precise situation to give up my light weapon. And the reasoning was well they wont give us another equipment slot, which they easily can or as most have said, will forego using cloak and just use normal stealth techniques.
I also pointed out that he had other options to deal with that precise instance so most wouldnt give up their light weapon.
I also give him |

So ... if the dozen or so Commandos out there are finally getting (much needed) attention, then maybe, just maybe, the 123 of us might too. Most certainly not more probable than not, but maybe. :-) Also, \o/ for the there might be a problem with tanks even though he didn't say when they plan to address it. I will always believe that the Commando is better suited for scouts. We even have the black eagle. I mean, think about what the commando is to the heavy. If I recall, one scenario came really close ... like .02 or something. So choosing Level II or III came down to how decimal rounding rules are handled, and whether or not a tie favors the scanner or scanned. Forgot the progression at hand. I love you, Brother, but I don't care to redo all the math :-)
No worries
Will go to Lv3 PD
Also on Precision - does it just allow you to see lower profile suits or do blip show brighter / last longer (going off SR's other post)? - If these things were readily known and better yet true then more people might invest in these skills and use the modules.

Thing about passive - Its only beneficial when you pick someone up you wouldve already seen but your focus was on something else. It is too LoS based. Light cover and even slight elevation in terrain can totally obscure foes.

Equipping 2 equipment items allows you to fill either the light or sidearm slot, trying to fill both will again invalidate the fitting.
I think this would be a better approach then to simply strong-arm the scouts into a particular role, give us options and the ability to create diverse and creative fittings
What if we just stop being happy with scraps?

You were saying. @Daxxis He specifically said "mod slots". You were saying. :P Btw if you counted Equipment, Cal Logi has 12, as does Min Logi and Gal Logi, Amarr has 10 slots including equipment.
Yes I know
Point is you still have more slots than a scout plus two more equipment slots (1 if they give us another) and you have a sidearm

Thank you sir - saved me more expletives and telling Remnant, Kain, IWS and all of the scouts who are trying to appease them where they can go for the rest of time.
I think I will go and try to enjoy the game until they mess it up anymore.
Reading this forum today was just not good for blood pressure levels and sanity.

I cant win - lol
Just had an FW with Matticus in my squad. Was a very good game and I know I had a pretty good kill count for my standards but fatal error before I could check the stats.

So you give all the extra EQ slot or you give it to the new scouts with the existing ones getting additional stats / high or low slot to offset not having the additional EQ slot.
I dont see why its so hard - that encompasses all.
The reason there is an issue is because they said they will take something away.

I think we should compile a list and put out a thread CCP: Things to address before robbing Scouts of an additional EQ slot
1. TacNet scanning of Tanks and Dropships 3. Logi slot configurations 3. Pilot suit and its role since anyone can drive vehicles 4. Installation health 5. Underperforming weapons
etc etc etc

Here I was thinking its going to be a sleepy Friday
Gallente Scout looks beastly.
Was hoping for a better bonus than the Nova but all in all we got alot of stuff. I can leave the call for Minmatar equality for a few months down the line if we are the lesser of the scouts.
This is a good day - rejoice

These motherless dogs then pull out their rifle and kill me. What is an honorable response to getting gunned down after accepting knife fights? Yeah, I've had it happen a couple of times, too. Once, I was lucky enough that when the guy switched to his gun, I was already close enough to end him with my knives... The other time? I wasn't so lucky... I got him with an RE before the match was over, but still ... if you carry the knives, you should know the code.
I am too scared to knife fight. I usually only knife unsuspecting foes and many times I just use my CR if I think they are about to move. Its why if we get a respec I will only go to Lv3
I never go knife to gun before an engagement though I have knifed med / heavies and then finished them off with my rifle.

@Ghost - ACR is 78/8 pre bonus reduction iirc
@Igniteable
On the Nova Knife - I think they still should go with a 2-3 % Sidearm bonus per level On the hacking - was against it but quite a few people wanted so I think democracy kind of won out there
I would hope they would change the NK because I think its the only bonus that is tied to one particular weapon. All others give some freedom.

Actually made a much similar point (though not as well articulated) in the other amarr scout thread

I posted that idea many many months ago. So of course I agree with it Although I think it should work like actual real-world dB attenuation, not just "meter per dB". Also, this would mean SUPER-loud stuff like dropships and tanks, should be super-detectable.
If only.... my frustration level would drop considerably

Sell to vendor is fine though for persons who dont plan to ever skill up certain things and just want them gone from their inventory.
Or (i guess) the person who may just need some extra ISK to buy something right now.
On the skill refunds - is it per tree or all or nothing? Not sure from my initial read.

There is no otherwise, thats it (though PS players get an additional strike)

I played a bit - Got into matches quickly. My innate armor repair wasnt working. I did like the speed of my character though, felt free even though I missed my jumping capability.
I did sell off all my stuff (officer weapons I'm not skilled in as well) and gained about 7-8 mill
I think I may play some more but I wont go full Dust for the entire month. I promptly switched back to Destiny (Crucible) because the weapons just are more satisfying to use. Dust felt a bit hollow.
