Terrible lag today. Every match I've played. Smooth sailing up until I get close to someone, then frame rate plummets. Nothing new or different on my end.

Yep, already reinstalled, no good, but it fixed the problem where DUST would crash my PS3. The lag usually wears off on Saturday.
Oh, and I'll just leave this here;

So after asking my question yesterday about whether it's better to run 2 x card regs, 2 x kin cats or a mix, I decided not to be lazy and do something productive instead of work when in the office earlier. So, I made some fun spreadsheets!
Here are my findings :)
It is never more effective to use 2 x card regs on any suit for running distances 700m or less (I didn't bother going further than that because that's pretty much the length of most maps from D to E).
It is usually better to run 2 x kin cats but it does depend on the level and distance intended to run.
With MLT or STD biotics there's barely a difference for gallente scouts between using 2 x kin cats or one of each but for minmatar scouts it's better to use one of each by nearly half a second. For longer distances it is generally better to use 2 x kin cats for either race up to 700m except when travelling around 500m when it becomes better to use one of each. This is due to running down your stamina fully for the 2nd time over this distance.
With ADV biotics it becomes a bit more of a mixed bag; gallente scouts benefit most from one of each beyond 500m and around 300m but 2 x kin cats is best around 400m and less than 200m. For minmatars it's better to use 2 x kin cats up to 500m except for around the 300m mark but from 600m it becomes more effective to use one of each.
Proto is where it becomes more interesting though because I'm sure that's the level that most scouts are at; gallente are only more effective with one of each at around 300m but anything more and kin cats are better. Minmatar are better off with one of each between 300m and 400m but shorter or longer distances are better served using 2 x kin cats.
I also checked some combinations of pro and adv gear for this but there isn't really any point in doing this instead of simply running 2 x kin cats. That said, there is a funny little anomaly with using an ADV card reg and PRO kin cat where it's actually faster to run 600m than using PRO of any combination. The reason for this is that PRO card regs are a little different to the lower level ones: at PRO you get 200% on both stamina and regen, which results in depletion - full regen time take 11 seconds; at lower levels the regen buff is larger than the stamina buff, so you get back to full stamina much quicker. An interesting sidenote but ultimately superceded by the generally better combo of 2 x kin cats.
Note - my techniques for these calculations assume full sprinting until total stamina depletion and waiting for full regen before sprinting again. These results assume flat ground with full ground contact at all times, no jumping or stopping and running in a single straight line.
For anyone interested here's a link to my spreadsheet folder but the sheets aren't entirely obvious to understand and I can't really be bothered to tidy them up heh.

So I tried the new fit out - scrambler pistol + knives. Fail. Will try again tomorrow, and refuse to be disheartened. I haven't figured out how the hell to use knives properly yet - sneaking up on ppl is easy kills, but in a battle with someone? Hmmm.....I really missed my shotty. Must...try...harder.
Also suspect I forgot some scout tactics and made bad engagement choices....or it could be it's only Thursday and the try-hards are still around capping.

Knives in a face to face confrontation aren't recommended unless that guy is really close. Unload your pistol at the hip in close range while weaving in and out of cover. Most AR users will just spray the entire time, emptying their clip. If it's a logi he has to reload, that is your opportunity to rush them but you only have 2 seconds or so. If they have a side arm you have to try to close the distance before they can take aim.
Also I've found that a surprise slash then a hop back to fill them full of rounds works well.
While you're still getting the hang of it try to only engage people who are already fighting someone else.

For 1on1 NKs fights I would say you're better off running, but there are players out there that I've seen pull it off against Meds, but they're very experienced Knifers. If you feel you must fight them, then charge and jump at them (Do a running jump), try jump to their side and rotate your view accordingly, so you're not jumping right into their gun.
If you dont want to 1v1 them, run, and hide around a corner (Make sure its not near an installation, or objective, those things can scan you, they have a Precision of 0db), charge your knives, and pop out and knife them just as they're about to turn the corner. Ishukone should one kill them, depending on their buffer, ZN-28s might take two swipes.
Its also important you learn the maps inside out, for those quick getaways, so hop into an Oceania server, and just adventure around each facility, finding useful areas, and shortcuts.
Its what I done for about a week, and I found a way up to an area in my Scout suit, that was only accessible via Dropship, until I found out how to do it using 1337 parkour skills.

Haha, I use parkour to get to spots to snipe from, some of them put me within light weapon and even sidearm range (minus knives). Don't give away those spots please.

Yus, try harder. Specifically, you MUST have at least level 3, and KLO pistol, or your experience will be... unsatisfying, for the most part.

What would you guys think if we got a buff to our scan range and precision? Say, buff our base range to 30-40 meters and scan precision to 35-40. Pretty much make us walking scanners. The 6 meter buff was nice, but in order to attain effective passive scan, we use up most of our precious CPU/PG.

I said this when they announced the slight buff.
We should be able to see enemies and avoid encounters and engage most of the time on our terms. That should be our defense.
At the moment you can still get blips outside of the range but they fade out quickly. Also the inability to sometimes not even see past light cover and then other times pick up enemies through solid walls is very strange. |

I think most of it is the fact they can't speed strafe....I also think their hit box is larger, so easier to get headshots as well as shots on target.
Lastly, their lmg has laser like accuracy, so all the bob an weave makes it difficult to hit a scout. A heavy with an AR is more dangerous.
