Bad form in bad faith. Brah. I simply punctuate my posts with ad hominen, it's simply my style of writing, and I haven't been warned about it yet. I did not attack anyone personally I attacked their skill in the game, it's a game forum it's fine to question the skill of others within the game. It's been done a million times, probably even in this thread. I never posted a rant, I posted a well thought out list of facts that supported an assertion by another player that this is in fact a "scout circlejerk." I posted it as constructively and as factual as I could, but such an assertion isn't simply made without any emotion. Plainly playful banter doesn't need to have profanity, don't blame me for reporting him, blame him for posting.
My skill in game? It's no secret I don't play this game anymore because it's substandard. I've moved on. But! In my hey day, I was very much a good stabber. I've assassinated the best. I have no idea what to say other than that. I've never heard of you, and I've been here from the start. Sorry man- you just aren't all that. I mean.. it's a video game ;)
I do swear a lot, but it's typically censored. If they wish to censor words they should update their list. I can say it is lacking in its purpose lol. FYI, Star citizen forums don't even bother with censoring words. They can handle big boy arrangements of letters.
So you reported me? lol.. You are so weak And I mean, weakest in the most derogatory sense of the word. Weak in an encompassing way
Good luck with that.

If you believe this thread to be cancerous, then why is it that you're always here? Do you find it cancerous at all times, or only at times when your friends come under scrutiny? "Outsiders" pop in regularly and -- so long as they don't post or pitch something stupid or false -- they are generally well received. Have you considered the possibility that your friends might be better received if they didn't show up saying stupid and/or false things? Today's debacle began with your simple question yesterday: Why not Sgt Kirk for CPM?You asked for my opinion, and I gave it to you. Is bringing bias into question really that provocative an offense? Kirk's performance today was less than laudable; CPM is all about hearing and responding to player opinions; when Kirk heard mine, he responded by pitching a fit and hurling insults at the Barbershop. If Kirk truly intends to run, he'd do well sell himself as open-minded, empathetic and cool-headed, despite a history of evidence to the contrary. He'd do well to respond gracefully when questioned about Gallente bias and loosing his cool. And if Team Gallente intends to circle wagons when Kirk is floundering, you guys would do well to teach Zatara and Cat Merc more advanced maneuvers than poop-flinging and derp-bombing.

As for serious discussion - shouldn't you take that up with CCP et al who are supposedly listening? I don't care what thread I discuss game balance in. Though to be fair it really should be in features and ideas or whatever it's called....you've got a point there. |

Second (and third) question would be, how much work goes into trying to find a good workaround, and kind of at what point do you spend more effort into workarounds than rebuilding the code?
All of these questions cannot be answered by anyone who doesn't work at CCP. These all depend on how the game's various systems are built, dependencies, workarounds they used in the past, etc'. Games are just built differently from each other, and they all present different challenges for the developers. Accurate. Only the right folks in CCP could truly answer this.
My impression however is that a rebuild of the scan mechanics (not even considering the re balance work on things like suit stats or racial skills) is at least a two patch deal, scans/TacNet being systems that interact with enough other parts of the game that there is no small risk of breaking something along the way.
That's a lot of development run time consumed, with more teed up to be consumed (by the needed balance pass these changes would warrant) when the current state of the game is what it is. I want eWar fixed, but honestly I want frames per second fixed more (or if I'm really being optimistic I'd love to see Dust on PC/PS4 thus extending its lifespan beyond that of the aging PS3).

Sad news. I may not be able to play Dust for long. Keep getting an issue with the leaderboard loading up when I sprint. I'd put it down to the controller being wonky (It's older than the ps3 itself) but it doesn't cause any problems with any other game, and I plugged in the newer, shinier one and it didn't change.
So yeah, gonna post about it in the bugs but if it doesn't change then welp.

True Adamance wrote: Asked for why there might be external hostility. Suggested why there might be hostility. Tangential attempt to discuss scout rhetoric.
I have not forgotten your efforts to balance scouts however that's not really pertinent to my answer. Simply you are attempting to defend a scout-centric thread comprised of other scout-centric players talking about scouts being scouts in a semi closed off community*, etc. You surely can understand why when certain statements are made on the part of this thread others with contrary opinions might consider your opinions biased and logic flawed.
Again not to devalue your efforts because Rattati places great faith in your all. But the question was not what I think but what other might think.
* Reads Adipem's comments about "Outsider's" support my point about Semi Closed Off Community.
I can certainly understand why people would consider us biased, and we probably are. Anyone who has any attachment to something to any degree is, whether we know it or not. Bias even gets more complex than that, but that is a topic for another discussion.
I have no problems with people engaging us honestly when it comes to that. I do the same with AV/Tank threads as you know. We need to keep each other honest, but the discussion is more than that. As both you and Pokey have pointed out, that I may be right in saying that there is a problem, but have misidentified it. It is a fair point, because both of you know vehicles with a depth and experience I do not have, but honest discussion leads to understanding as well as keeping each other honest.
And you are right in saying this is a semi closed off community. As are corps, Mordu Trial vets, and any group dedicated to any role, to one degree or another. It simply a matter of sharing a passion for something, as well as a culture that we have created and cultivated, and I personally do not see that as a negative, but a positive.
You make very valid points, but I do not see why those two points above can't exist in a framework of tolerance. It is one thing to say we are biased, it is another to claim, as many have, that we want scouts to be assaults, without ever providing evidence, and ignoring the times when we claim the opposite.
The sentiment I have seen from many others, particularly many that bombarded the thread yesterday, goes beyond simply disagreeing and wanting to keep us honest. It is often malicious (such as being called cancerous), and seems to have an anger and hatred that I don't think the points you brought up automatically merit. THAT is what I don't believe has any justification.

Gonna suggest some obvious things you may have already tried.
- use the new one without a single other device connected (wired, bluetooth, controller or otherwise) - do the same with the old - try them wired (assuming you're using wireless) - find that other controller under the seat of your sofa that you're sitting on - if you've a PC, plug it into that and use the calibration tool to see what it's doing - if you're desperate, turn your playstation upside-down (I **** you not)
No seriously - I've had weird as **** things happen only to notice that the other controller's analog stick is stuck in the left position yet again (they're roughly six years old) |

The problem of getting leaderboard and/or map is a common one. It happens to me ALL THE TIME, especially when in a dropship. It also does NOT happen with ANY other game I play on PS3.
I am convinced the issue is the following: The 'tolerance' setting for the DS3 is VERY VERY Granular. I have this hunch that in an effort to have tighter controls they've set the analog settings for the buttons to be too sensitive, allowing certain amounts of static or even squeezing the controller to set off certain buttons.
The saddest part of all is that the D-PAD soooo doesn't need any special sensitivity. Eitherway, it's a common bug that happens to us all, you are not alone. Many have tried to get it fixed, but it's not easily reproduced.

I had the same thing happen to me, I'm tempted to believe Dust caused it because it started with Dust and eventually started happening everywhere. Easiest way to test "everywhere" is on the PS3 main menu. It's made my two newer controllers useless, but the I have an older, lighter model of DS3 (without sixaxis I think) and it works like a charm.
