I wouldnt feel too bad, if we get the 5% damp BACK, with the cloak.
That being said, I would feel incredibly ANGRY, if this is a ploy to allow logis to do the same thing.
Which there seems to be a very high likelyhood that it is.

Is there anything a logi cant fit - A heavy weapon, you know why?
And now you get my point but the medium suit loving population would be up in arms if they couldnt have it all.
Also if we give back the 25% then Minny scouts would have to give up a slot to beat the adv scanner - not so? |

Having a lot of fun with this fit atm:
Gallente Scout, G/1 Series:
RS-90 Combat Rifle
Complex Shield Extender Complex Shield Extender
Complex Range Amplifier Complex Range Amplifier
Compact Nanohive
It's insanely squishy, but with that passive scanning it feels like I've been playing with my eyes closed. Also - It's full on CPU but using less than half of the PG available. Any tips on fitting this? I want both the range amps but I can't see how I can get a more efficient/better fit with them.

I'm not a fan of changing my Gallente racial or role bonus... and honestly, I'd rather have a lower profile and precision than have a cloak at all.
I certainly don't want to use a high slot for a cloak if it also means that I now have to use a low slot for a dampener and the other low slot for a range extender just to get back to the profile and range I have now by default.
I'd rather the tools I have now be buffed slightly so that I continue to have a challenging and intelligent hunt. I'm not as interested in an "invisible mode" button which allows me no other fitting flexibility if I want to stay off the TAC-NET and keep my scan range viable.

Personally I'd rather go full glass cannon and switch your shields for damage mods but that's just me.

I concur - I like my current suit set ups on my gals but a cloak could compliment them all perfectly if I can still have everything I have at the moment. But if we don't get an extra equipment slot, I won't be giving up my REs or my uplinks to fit a cloak.
And though I don't think our innate profile dampening will be removed, I'd rather have that than a cloak too.
Here's an interesting point I just thought of though - in the interview Remnant mentioned scout specialisations, so perhaps there is going to be an entirely new suit set up akin to the type IIs we've talked about a lot before but we'll have our current set up as is too? Scout specialisation and assassin specialisation maybe?

Does Arkena's CR hit hard enough to run without shield extenders? I tried running Damage Amps on my Adv RR. Most targets had time to turn around and fire back. At which point, I wished I had shields instead of amps :-) |

You bust be running into some especially well brick-tanked reds. Enemies aside from Heavies melt under my RR without any damage mods.
I prefer using extenders. Things die quickly enough that I don't feel the damage mods would be useful enough. I prefer having that extra 0.2 seconds to reach cover.
Edit: (Sidenote: is there any chance of EVE Lore allowing PVE to include giant bugs? It just sounds more fun to take on a swarm of bugs rather than a bunch of robots)

The combat rifle is an absolutely fantastic weapon. Seriously, try it. I shred heavies fairly easily in that fit without any proficiency.

I like the Gal set up the way it is. I like the Min as well, but it needs more to be on par with the Gal, maybe cloaks will make that gap less noticeable. The new implied bonuses may just go to the Cal and Amarr suits, I hope that they do, and soon. Wonder which would go where though. Scan time to the Cal? Shimmer to the Amarr?
Would love to see what they have in the works.

Four your entertainment, and reference for theorycrafting, here are the bonuses for the Minatar stealth Bomber, the EVE equivalent to a Scout:
Quote:Minmatar Frigate Skill Bonus: 10% bonus to torpedo explosion velocity and flight time per level 20% bonus to torpedo velocity per level Covert Ops Skill Bonus: 5% bonus to bomb explosive damage per level 15% bonus to Torpedo explosive damage per level Role Bonus: -99.65% reduction in Torpedo Launcher powergrid needs -50% reduction in Cloak CPU Use -100% targeting delay after decloaking Notes: Can fit covert ops cloaks, covert cynosural field generators and bomb launchers. Cloak reactivation delay reduced to 15 seconds.
Notice how there is 1) a Minmatar Frigat Skill Bonuse (equivalent to the Gallente Scout sensor range bonus / Minmitar Melee & Nova Knife damage bonus), 2) a Covert Ops Skill Bonus (Equivalent to the Scout Suit profile dampening Bonus), and then there is 3) a Role Bonus which reduces the CPI cost of equipping a Cloak, as well as removing a restriction that normally applies to a cloaking device when equipped on other ships.
I donGÇÖt think Scout Suits will lose their existing bonuses. I think they will get an additional role bonus. |

I sincerely hope this turns out to be the case (though I'm still hoping the additional role bonus is for cloaking and other E-War equipment like Tacnet/IFF jammers).

I really think the suits should have the innate bonus to dampeners and not the skill. So it is just a flat out 99% reduction to pg cost for cloaking devices on Scout suits.

I don't visit the forums much, but since I'm here I'd like to pay my respects to the registry. Also, thanks to Shotty for trying to raise awareness on scoutly issues.
My main wears a scout suit 100% of the time. I played Dust briefly in beta, then came back to it this September. I foolishly thought the scout suit had some inherent stealth value (besides tiny dB differences) and, as I always like stealth play, I invested in it as my only suit (including making all profile skills level 3).
Since learning firsthand of how weak the light suit is, I've been tempted to go medium; I have gone basic medium on my alts, but my main is still a pure scout wearer. That said, I never submitted my name to the registry in part because I wanted my main to be anonymous; but more importantly I don't play as a true scout. I snipe. So while technically being a scout, and being vulnerable to instant death (like two-shot tac-sniper deaths), I don't consider myself a proper scout and therefore am not worthy of being on the board.
I do, however, wish to salute those who wear the light; those about to die (often).

More than half my time on DUST from Closed Beta till now has been me as a Scout Sniper. . . unfortunately Uprising has been terrible cruel to the Snipers. Taking away the ability to shoot objectives, limiting rendering on objects and characters, and simply not having enough damage to take out proto suits in competitive play
If I weren't participating in this war for Molden Heath's domination I would be sniping in ambush in my dragonfly scout. Sniping in a Scout suit does make you one of Scouts United as you can ether choose HP (Gallente) or damage (Minmatar) when sniping while Med Frames can have both.

I do remember things being a lot easier back in beta. I don't mind how sniper-unfriendly the maps are, though I'd be the first to admit that I rarely make a significant impact in a match. The best thing I do is break up roof camps and occasionally help win by clone depletion (in modes other than Ambush). Seeing how hated snipers are on the forums, I'll never venture into FW.
I'm slightly ashamed to admit it, but I picked the Gallente suit because it wasn't as ugly as the Matar. I can't stand Matar design, ship or suit. Despite having the capacity for armor tanking, I don't bother; I need foot speed because I like to run around the maps a lot, and never use vehicles. Also, I only use Adv. anyway, so whatever tank I'd make wouldn't be that helpful; I have a zen-like indifference to death. I try to avoid it, but when it comes, I don't struggle; I figure if I allow myself to be spotted, I don't deserve the chance to escape by having 500+ HP. It teaches me better habits to be so vulnerable, to the point that my medium suit's K/D is less than half of my scout's.
