CCP may have done a great job with 1.7. It certainly seemed that way the morning of release. But right now there's really no way get a read on the improvements. Not with the current state of combat, match after match. "Slowing tanks down" isn't going to fix the problem. CCP needs to either give us tools to pop these things, or make it hurt the wallet -- badly -- when one actually gets popped.
TL;DR - Tank Spam is overshadowing all the good things 1.7 has delivered. Absolutely. Honestly, tank spam and the lack of scout love are the only two problems I have with 1.7. The rest is pretty great.
And hopefully this will be corrected or at east start to be addressed early in the new year. |

Given what we've seen in 1.7, I'm somewhat concerned that CCP may go overboard on Scouts. They've buffed armor to such a degree that the only counter to a Tank is another Tank. If they buffed us along similar lines, we'd lose our identity. No one wants HardMode to be EZ.
Frankly, I like earning my kills, so I'll be the first to take issue if we were somehow rendered FoTM. That said, I'd also take issue with a halfhearted "this-for-that", of the likes Llast is concerned. If there's one thing that sets us apart, its that we like a challenge.
Regardless of what may come, one thing's for sure ... If CCP made Scouts FoTM, we sure wouldn't behave like Tankers are behaving right now. Legend345 is the only one I've seen to stand up and object to his class being made FoTM. |

The problem with approaching our path to being "fixed" as it were, is that CCPs development style makes asking for balance from the start a dead in the water proposition. The only way they know how ot balanc eis to either go super UP or super OP... I'd rather see the scotus go OP and then get scaled back vs going UP in some misguided sense of fairness only to get the shaft for a longer period of time than has already taken place. It's better to go OP and then dial it down.

We will be fotm one day. It won't be because we are OP. Just look at this thread. It will be fotm once it is fixed because there is so much latent desire to play scouts, but people are holding off because they hold values such as K/D and whatnot sacred and won't play scouts until it is viable.

Let's not forget this game will supposedly grow over time. Keep in mind CCPs dreams when you ask for balance to the now. Their dev cycle is brutal.
All that aside- If a high tech society developed cloaking technology and deployed it in a combat zone where entire planets and life itself mattered- the cloak would be combat worthy.
I think, we as a community and CCP as a developer, needs to figure out a cloak that would fit the bill given the deadly nature of new eden. And the deadly nature of the foes we've been up against. We mean to be deadly. Let's act like it guys (and gals).

I said it somewhere else earlier but I'll say it again here - one day scouts will be amazing and everyone and their gran will want to play as one but then they'll find out that scouts are only awesome when you've honed your scoutly tactics as much as all us hardcorers have. The EZ mode masses will flock and then they'll realise they have no idea what they're doing and that as soon as the decloak to shoot someone in the face that they get gunned down in a millisecond because they didn't plan properly or tried to play as an invisible assault and then they'll go home to their wimpy flacid med suits with their tear soaked tail drooping between their flabby legs.
Scouting is simply not something anyone can just pick up and be instantly good at. You have to learn over time and that takes patience that EZ mode just does not have.
