The "It's all his fault" is the part I have a problem with. That's it. Everything else is differing opinions based on what we think scouts SHOULD be like.
But don't let that stop you or anything. If you post this enough, people will eventually believe it to be true. Goebbels did it with a whole nation, I'm sure you could do it to a forum if you tried.
Read the thread, Ghost. It wasn't CCP or other members of CPM1 who were peddling convenient falsehoods (i.e. Marauder doesn't armor tank, assault-lite isn't the problem, etc). It wasn't other members of CPM1 or CCP who were championing new imbalance. It was Zatara. Every new form of imbalance we enumerated came to be. Everything we said would happen did happen. We were right. It wasn't CCP or the other members of CPM1 who were in that thread mocking us and telling us that we were wrong. It was Zatara. If all of this was one big accident, at the very minimum, Zatara should've owned up to his mistakes when he realized that one form of permascan had been replaced by another. He didn't. He championed imbalance -- which just so happened to suit his personal interests -- and he left it in play without a word of acknowledgement or effort to correct. Zatara's horrible PR on the side; the point I'm making is that the changes went through. That means that SOMEWHERE along the line, Zatara wasn't the only one championing this. CCP wouldn't put something in the game they don't agree with, and he had NOWHERE near enough clout to push it through on his own. The rest were silent. That doesn't mean that they didn't support it. Share the blame is all I'm saying. Trying to say that Zatara, himself, pushed an idea that only he agreed with through CCP is flat out stupid. No way in hell is a company going to radically change the game based off of ONE MAN's input, from someone who isn't even paid . I'd like to give Rattati the benefit of the doubt. There aren't any metrics by which to measure the effects of EWAR, so he was largely flying blind going into last December's changes and was more reliant than usual on guidance from informed players. If Zatara hadn't been there peddling falsehoods and telling Rattati that the EWAR experts were wrong (which we weren't), isn't there a good chance Rattati would've paid more mind to what we had to say? I think he would have. Various cloak nerfs, cloakblind, fixing fire-from-cloak, armor drawbacks, AM/CA role split ... we had made lots of headway with Rattati on bringing Scouts into balance up to that point. Click the link in my signature and look at 1.10; Assaults were already overtaking Scouts. The next logical steps at that time (which Rattati was onboard with) were Scout EWAR efficacy bonuses for damps and extenders to curb GA/CA Assault Lite and then direct Assault buffs to attract displaced Assault Lite. Instead, someone with white tags and lots of popular support was there telling Rattati that Assault Lite was a fantasy cooked up by the Barbershop.
You've a fair point in that I don't have any idea what anyone else on CPM1 did or didn't do. Only Zatara. And what Zatara did and didn't do were both wrong. I absolutely hold him accountable for his actions and inactions. I'd absolutely expect to be held accountable if I set out to do harm, and I'd absolutely expect to be held accountable if I didn't set out to make it right. Doubly so if I were in a position like CPM.

It took a while for the effects of the assault buff to fully take affect, as unlike with 1.8 there was no rare free respec. I feel people didn't give it time to settle in before considering further nerfs to other classes.
Another example of misplaced balancing: part of the reason for the HMG nerf was poor ARs. But afterwords ARs were still considered UP, because they weren't changed. Now ARs have been buffed (only for assaults) and this is partly why people are considering sentinel buffs.
Such are the pitfalls of balancing. Hindsight OP. |

One thing about Fallout 4 that really has my interest is base building. In a nutshell, you layout a base and invest resources in a variety defenses, which you place about as smartly as possible in hopes of maximizing their effect against hostile AI intruders. Essentially, Tower Defense. Garden Warfare is another recent game that does something similar, albeit with a little less freedom of design. Plant different types of defenses in different fixed positions around a point. With the help of those defenses and your buddies, defend a central point against wave after wave of progressively harder hostile AI ...

Shotty, nice graph in your signature.... definetly points to a fairly obvious problem.
Regarding all the fun being had by all I think its best to just move on and look forward instead of at the past. Of course to me it seems kind of grim as far as dust is concerned. I don't have the exact average release time but feels like 1.3 is taking forever and I really disagree with their lack of communication on what they are working on and getting good community feedback as well as their plans for the future.
Of course, you never know they could be working on a port but we have all learned to not hold our breath with regards to CCP. Just look at how inactive this threads been until today. Lack of communication and discussion causes us to all loose interest IMO. |

(You know, because Shotty was complaining about CPM2, which is not far removed from CPM1, which Zatara was on, so he must have been insulting Zatara.... Ghost logic) And of course, scouts are ok, because they work exactly how Ghost thinks they should work, and who cares about what everyone else thinks, because Ghost is elite (he was listed at the top of a couple games and is not an elite PC gamer too!) so everyone else's opinion is moot. But what do I know, I am just a scrub who played scout and enjoyed it since open beta, but haven't been able to enjoy the game since ridiculous nerfs (I am looking at you cloak blind and a 3 second delay, that is really only supposed to be 1 second, but whatever, its working as intended), and Assault suits who have 8 module slots at all tiers (given pre real Assault buff, and left in long after they have become somewhat OP) so my opinion is worthless. You obviously aren't reading. Ghost Kaisar wrote:
Gal Logi needs a pass, but I wouldn't say its OP. I can easily hide from that thing. Scout suit with damps. Easy peasy. Does it need a pass? Yeah, uptime and strength could use some tweaks. I'd personally like active scans to be moderate strength and team-wide, while Scout scans are powerful, but personal. But thats just me. My opinions don't apply to everyone.
And if you've carefully read, you'll notice that my problem is mainly that he likes to blame Zatara for everything that has gone wrong with eWAR, ignoring CCP and rest of the CPM. Fair enough, I misread or glanced over the post too quickly. I will take full blame for it.
The rest is less a statement of fact than a statement of perception based on many of your comments over weeks, months, and several threads.
Anytime someone states a problem, its an attitude of "Well, I don't have a problem with it, must just be you." "It doesn't work that way in PC, or at least not for me, therefore its not a problem worthy of my consideration or any attempt to understand anyone else's experience." You may not intend it, but you come off as an elitist snob, to me at least, that feels he is too high and mighty to give two squats about what others are saying.
That may be wrong, and I may be just misreading you. Perhaps there is some confirmation bias and I am simply missing posts and threads where you acknowledge and respect others' experiences and attempt to reconcile them to your own.
But please, feel free to use one of my statements of opinion as a statement of fact, and suggest that in stating my opinion I am attempting to spread misinformation on the level of a **** spreading lies about the Jews in order to rationalize their genocide. It in no way suggests my opinion of you is more accurate than one would like.

Anecdotal point on my part, I jumped on to get the rep tool and personally I find heavies easy mode compared to the scout, I pulled out my heavy a few times and murdered the crap out of people. I know the heavy is map dependent but the same can be said for the scout (if you prefer certain play styles). I almost always get a better kdr I my heavy then in my scout. |

I hoped on to get the rep tool as well. Managed to get hit on the characters who use rep tools pretty easily. One was my Amarr character, easy peasy as It has Logi up to AdvGǪ I see no reason to take it than that. Heavy is also at Adv. used a mix of Amarr Scout, Logi, and HeavyGǪ situationally. Switched my SCR out on my Scout to ASCRGǪ so much killing. Heavy in certain Dom matches was netting me almost as much WP as Logi was. I was using this when I saw 3 to 1 logo/heavy ratio. On my Minja, I just ran Minja. I hacked all the things and comfortably got the Rep Tool over two days with about 10 matches. Llast got about half way, just PLCing anything I saw.
I had some seriously entertaining matches. My favourite was Minja vs 12 players. My team ditched down to 4 in the first minute, and I was left alone shortly after that. Knifed 5 people dies 8 times hacked 4 objectives and kept them guessing. Got 6 mails after the game just for sticking it out. Most of them were running officer gear and lost some assets

I finally got gal scout to 5 and I think this is where my options really open up and since I don't want to search through hundreds of posts, I'll just lazily reply to this thread with my doubts and questions.
1.What should go in the low slots? I usually run two kin cats on with two damps for meatgrinder maps or replace a damp with a card reg for open maps or skirmish. I was also thinking of replacing the card reg/damp with a ferroscale. Are armor modules on a gal scout optimal or necessary?
2. What about high slots? I used to run precision enhancers but passive scanning is wonky so I switched them for extenders. Would it be better to use damage mods, myofibs or mix it up?
3. Are cloaks recommended? I like cloaks on my hacking suit but the switching delay and decloak noise get me killed too often. Lately, I've been running uplinks to help the blues and an active scanner to make up for the crappy passives. What scanner should I use?
4. Shotguns only? I've been using the shotgun a lot but I still can't aim with it properly. If the guy moves, I instantly lose track of him in CQC and get murdered. I was thinking of using an assault rifle but I don't think it has enough alpha damage.
I could just ask for a fitting but I want to know the reasoning used by the masters of the scout craft.

On a gal scout I recommend only one dampner, you almost never need two. I usually have one fit with one red and another with two. Ferroscale and reactives and armor repairs are good on a gal scout lows in various combos depending on your fit. Personally I almost always put two enhanced shield extenders in the highs. I also don't recommend card regulators on a gal scout.
I have some fits with cloaks (advanced) and some without. Almost all of my scout fits have a drop uplink to keep good spawn points for the team and earn WP.
You don't have to use a Shotgun. Find the weapon and style you like, we all have various preferences. I like the breach ScP lately but each weapon affects what you should have on your fit and how you should engage. |

1) Depends on scans, if no scans are up I'd just go with one damp, two kincats, a ferro or reactive plate. Because of HS its optional to put armor on.
2) I prefer precision in my HS or two shields. I only use damage mods for when I'm sniping, its your choice on myomeths i personally don't like them. GS has most versatility so you can put whatever you want on it.
3) No idea about scanners since i don't use them only know how to avoid em. For me cloak is good for sniping & open terriain & some sidearm fits. Also, my hacking suit is Min scout. You will always hack slower on GS even tho you'll be more stealthy. Don't listen to Varoc on that. For everything else? Listen to him.
4) No. If you want a mid range shotgun, use a GLU-5 or BAR. GLU-5 especially its beautiful. If you want better ROF use a GK-13. Don't have one? GFW Lvl 1 Burst AR is pretty sweet. Also ACR/CR are good too. CR is unofficially? THE scout weapon. Used ta be shotties, but Min assaults yo.
