I think we may have found our perfect "event" to make our stand...
I GIVE YOU
It is not apparent TK'ing will be a part of this event in lieu of the FW update. If it is, we have to tK every single dev we can with scout suits and weapons.
If it is not an aspect of these matches, we must either awox if we are on their team, or hunt DEVs regardless of any notion of winning the match.
This will be made far easier by making sure every scout utilizes, for lack of a better rally point, the scouts united channel to fully squad up and enter these matches ready to sabotage every match we can regardless of team placement. We can insure, friendly fire or not, that the DEVs lose. They can feel what it is like to be a scout in their own game. I highly suggest knives to make the point. There won't likely be as good an opportunity as this to take full advantage of making a stand.
In light of this, I respectfully ask Shotty to put off his retirement of himself as well as this hallowed scout meeting ground to accomplish this one last boon... Operation Dev Nerf

while the event would be fun.. it would NOT accomplish what you claim. it would in no way make them "feel what it is like to be a scout".
It would instead, "make them feel scout is OP".

To follow up on that, with something that WOULD get their attention in the desired way... show them that triple SP, is not as important to you as improving scouts. Form a full squad, scout only.
equip knives only.
Do a full formation suicide run against them directly (instead of just suiciding out of MCC), wave after wave, until they clone your team out.
THAT. would get their attention.

So, I'm getting 900,000 SP back from vehicles. I think I'm putting everything I have into Shotgun Proficiency V. If there is any left over, it'll go into shotgun extra ammo.
I spent the whole day only playing PC. Logi mk.0 (alt character), Logi gk.0, Assault ak.0, and Scout gk.0 . The first one is an alt and was all I could play. The second I use for uplinks and REs. The third I use for open-ground/no man's land battles, and the scout I use for ninja hacking.
Then there's my fun suit, which is also a scout suit.
Best battle was against essentially MHPD. Strange and fun to go up against ex-corpmates that split-up with no bad blood between us. Saw Assert Dominance in the city with a shotgun, so I knew I had to do that same. went 16/10 that match. 3 deaths were TKs. 4 were while I was in an non-combat suit.
I wish I could have heard Regnyum on comms

Until Jadd Hatchen writes: "If you stop right there and look at the damage for the other suits you will realize that CCP was gearing the power of a melee attack to the size of the suit. A light suit only does 80pts base, a medium does 110 pts base, and a heavy does 150pts base. Larger mechanisms = larger force. So they were NOT meant to be the melee damage kings of the game."
Shotty GoBang, if he hadn't retired, might say in response: Force (Newtons) = mass (kg) * acceleration (m/s^2)
For all of you who passed Physics 101, which of the following contributes more to Force? A) Mass B) Acceleration
For all of you who didn't take Physics 101, which of these would hurt your face more? 1) Falcon Punch by 150lb Jackie Chan (tiny fist of dragon move so fast like the Lightning). 2) Falcon Punch by 350lb fat guy down the street (lumbering fist of ham, still smelling of Lays).

Heinrich Jagerblitzen wrote:Scout Registry wrote: When a weapon's in-game performance is changed, "balance" is absolutely affected, whether or not that weapon's base properties were changed. If weapons were balanced in 1.0, and mechanical changes to follow affected some weapons more than others, then we have created a state of weapon "imbalance" by very definition.
If in a given build, we set out to improve gameplay performance through mechanical tweaks, and we unintentionally upset the state of weapon balance, then shouldn't QA be prepared to recalibrate?
How is it that we are seven builds in without any significant adjustments to weapon properties? Have we not undergone numerous mechanical tweaks, all of which impacted some weapons more than others?
Also, thank you for checking in (seriously). And thank you for your clarification. o7 These are all questions that CCP Wolfman or Remnant would have to answer, not me. I don't actually know why TTK wasn't adjusted in conjunction with the hit detection improvements, all I know is that Wolfman has said "we're looking into it". That's literally all I know, and all he's shared with the CPM. The lack of incremental, iterative balance work frustrates me deeply as well. I wish I had an answer as to why its not taking place, but I don't. All we know at any given time is what the devs are currently working on (in this case, new weapons and vehicles.)
Agreed. o7
On one hand, there will always be opportunity for mechanical improvements and demand for new weapons. On the other, weapon balance / counterbalance should persist between builds, such that FoTM not become FoTY. Divergent and resource-intensive goals, but both moving us in the right direction toward a better Dust.
In conclusion, might we opine in summary:
1) Mechanical Improvements to date have affected different weapons by different degrees. 2) To date, a wide-scale weapon calibration pass has not occurred. 3) More likely than not, such a calibration pass is presently necessary. 4) Recalibration -- periodically if possible -- should follow future mechanical changes. |

Finally, some info on cloaking:
http://dust514.com/news/blog/2013/12/interview-with-ccp-remnant/
Sadly, nothing concrete on when, but at least there's something about the planned implementation:
Quote:The Scout role will get very high PG/CPU bonuses to fitting cloak equipment, making it just about the only role that can feasibly fit a cloak field without having to sacrifice the rest of its fit. Individual race skill bonuses will create opportunities for cloaked scouts to scan further and longer than other dropsuits, to have less GÇ£shimmerGÇ¥ as they move, and have lower innate scan profiles so that they can be visually and electronically invisible. These should help create more useful assassins, intel gatherers, and saboteurs. And in time, the introduction of additional Scout specializations will be added to further push the boundaries of the little Light Suit That Could. |

Aw, nuts.
In other words, we WILL see non-scout proto suits with cloaks. And there WILL be abuse of it by non-scouts that CCP "didnt see". even though we said their would be.
Screw that. When it comes out, I"M out.

PS: 4 questions for you all:
What suit do devs like to treat as the "real" infiltrator? What suit has a variant with hacking bonus? What suit is the devs' favourite? What suit will abuse cloaks?
oh wait they all have the same answer. Surprise surprise, logi suit.

If the cpu/pg cost and our bonus are balanced well, it should work out fine. Even if an assault "sacrifice[s] the rest of its fit" to equip a cloak, it should still be easily discovered by our superior scanning capabilities (... or anyone with a damn scanner) unless the cloak reduces scan profile as well (which would be a big mistake).
Edit for Quil's second post: I don't think they plan on implementing the cloak until the logi's bonuses are corrected (so they don't need massive cpu/pg to fit their equipment)

Sadly, we have known about the cloak for 3 months now. They have been saying "soon" for a loooong time. 6 months was "soon" and scouts still have no love.
There are no lights at the end of the tunnel. I will wait until they actually implement changes, then I will return. Holding off for anything else is just going to end in broken hearts and tears.
Cloaks are likely to have a 95% fitting bonus for scouts. So any suit that tries to fit it will likely be filled to the max with CPU mods. Its like fitting a mCRU on to a vehicle....that is stupid.

except logi.
We'll see proto logis, with cloaks, but more armor/shields than ADV scout suits, and 5hp/sec regen.
Even if they're visible to scouts (whicih they might not be), they'll be invisible to everyone else. So once again, the logi killing machine will rule

Its not just angular motion, perhaps because fat guy is so....round he must use centrifugal force to apply his punch...it might actually have greater force.
