On Aim assist
personally thought it was in on controllers cause we didn't have the fine tuned movement a mouse can get
In any case I played through the dark ages without AA for the most part.. it hurt the ol KDR
In the begginning AA actually hindered, especially if you went HS hunting with scrambler pistols. So I never turned it on till late Dark Ages
the only real problems I encountered were being insta ganked while running between cover(probably would of survived with out the ol AA)
and close in fights when we were both straffing like crazy, could never land the last hit it seemed while they just constantly hit me.. very sad
I think It should be weak enough, that doing with out, skill has a chance of exceeding it
and destiny is so BS.. hmmmm, hand cannon close to head, quick scope. boom HS |

I'd assumed HD mechanics to be beyond the scope of server-side tweak. PS: Trying out the Laser Rifle. Invested SP to Op III. As best I can tell, this is an exceptionally terrible weapon :-) Preheat the Laser by aiming at something besides a personGǪ then surprise Grilled Heavy Melt Have tried. Using ELM btw. The only thing I've succeeded in preheating is my heat gauge :-) Mostly use the AUR free ones I got from somewhereGǪ have 30 or so for some reason. Only have the ELM skilled up as well

Active Scans - This racial could be modified to effect other traits as well, such as cooldown, to improve its overall utility so there is some room to grow. That being said the active scanner use case is likely to stay somewhat marginal as long as there are more accurate always on 360 degree passive scans being shared team wide. It is hard for the less accurate, smaller scan area, temporary duration, squad only, scans to compete with that.... especially when you have to put away your weapon to use them.

To the best of our knowledge, passive scans are shared only among squadmates.
PS: I still use Active Scanners. On occasion, I'll run two in Ambush; I've very little difficulty sweeping 180+ degrees with a first scan, then painting any returns with a followup second scan. Returns from the first sweep scan blip for a few seconds; this gives me plenty of time to paint them fully with the second scan.

To the best of our knowledge, passive scans are shared only among squadmates. PS: I still routinely use Active Scanners. On occasion (if in an aggressive squad), I'll run two in Ambush; I've very little difficulty sweeping 180+ degrees with a first scan, then painting returns with a followup second scan. Returns from the first "sweep" blip for a few seconds which gives me plenty of time to pick a cluster to paint fully with the second scan. Interesting, I will have to see if I can get a reiteration from CCP, I thought from what I had been told that passives could show from the team but perhaps I misunderstood that dev convo as it was another one of those "X is mentioned in passing as part of talking about Y" sort of things.
As a side bar I am not inclined to nerf the precision, or range scout eWar, I feel like for the most part scouts are in a good place but that does not mean that the GalLogi/active scanner is in an optimal state, which makes finding it a "home" a bit tricky.
Second point of clarity I'll have to see if I can hunt down, if by "sweep" you mean you can increase the area scanned via some form of player movement, it is my understanding that such behavior is not intended function and should not be happening (if by 'sweep' you mean a single scanner use then ignore me here ).
In either case I, as ever, appreciate being apprised of how things are looking form a boots on the ground perspective beyond my own play time.
Cheers Cross

The smooth buttery goodness of lining up the shot, the charge time, then release and kick to the second shot is perfect, the limited magazine forces you to make your shots count.
The numbers and excessively higher ease of use is making it outshine scrambler pistols and Ions. Adjusting hipfire and aim assistances would be a good first step if I had to balance it. Second steps would be probably the reload before finally going after the dps most primarily the base damage.
If I had to balance it that is, I am not, so that is my current opinion on it.
To easy ion pistol FTW

1. Here's my understanding; one of the guys (or Appia) will correct me if I'm wrong ... * Shared Passives (Team) - Disabled at some point between Uprising 1.0 and 1.4. * Shared Passives (Squad) - Disabled in Uprising 1.4; later enabled without announcement. * Installation Passives (Team) - Disabled in Uprising 1.7. (thanks again, Logic Loop o7)
2. Agreed on both points.
3. By "sweep", I mean that I can scan 180 - 270 degrees by rotating while scan animation is underway. The only drawback to a scannerina sweep is that returns blip for only a few seconds (rather than full scan duration). This one's super easy to test and has been confirmed on a number of occasions by a number of different mercs.

If we get a client update, we should push for disabling shared passives as well as Gav's suggestion:

Better FPS (as in frames per second), better hit detection, more maps, the ability to spend time in a war barge and set up a squad per the old days (pre 1.6ish?), terrain fixes, backpedal/mobility adjustments, a team mate list that populates in a second vs 15 seconds, SPRINT BUG, and lots more probably.

The #1 priorities for this game content-wise should be a pseudo market, more maps, and more game modes.
A market and player trading would do absolute wonders for the metagame without too much development effort. More maps and more game modes is self explanatory; We've got lots of lovely toys now but only a few sandboxes to play in. Game modes should definitely be priority over maps, since our odd little procedural generation system helps keep things feeling relatively fresh.

So. I'm officially retired.
Haven't even gotten on since I've found my shiny new toy.
Popped an omega on the million clone event, played 3 matches and said "HOLY CRAP THE CORE MECHANICS" and couldn't bring myself to play more (This was back when I said that Matchmaking was good now. Remember that post? That was the last time I played Dust).
Anyways, been a fun run. I'll still pop in from time to time and probably degenerate into a war room troll (If other players "retiring but still forum active" are any indicator, that is the most likely scenario.)
