Yeah, me too. It's why, after I peg somebody with a charged shot, I switch over to my pistol for the finish a lot more often, now. I killed myself a few times over the weekend, trying to squeeze out ... one ... more ... shot. |

Not quite clear on what you're asking, but I'll give it a shot.
Your Hunter is running two complex precision enhancers: 45.00 dB - Base Precision 40.50 dB - Precision Enhancement 5 (-10%) 32.40 dB - Complex Enhancer (-20%) 25.92 dB - Complex Enhancer (-20%) --- if stacking penalty applies --- 26.89 dB - Complex Enhancer (-17%)
Your Prey is a maxed-out stealth Scout: 45.00 dB - Base Profile 33.75 dB - Scout Level 5 (-25%) 30.38 dB - Profile Dampening Level 5 (-10%) 25.82 dB - Basic Profile Dampener (-15%)
So this Prey will go undetected, provided he's running a Basic Profile Dampener. But the above Hunter build will pickup a Scout with Level(3) Dampening and one Basic Dampener.
Hope this answers your question. o7 |

Okay, I need to ask some questions from a Gal Scout.
I have run minnie suit since the get-go. I love how I can have 217 shields and 74 armor and still run like the dickens. I love how quickly I can get back in the fight because of using shields. However, I find my use in a squad a bit lacking, as I can never run useful items like Range amplifiers and codebreakers. If I run these items, I sacrifice my speed.
So, here are my questions.
1.) Is the racial bonus to Range amplification really noticeable in this patch? On paper, it looks freaking fantastic (20m radius = 3.14(20^2)= 1256m^2 which would cover 1/5 of an american football field.
2.) How much eHP does a Gal scout normally run at? I am worried about how this would affect my combat capabilities. (also, try and keep in mind my thoughts as to running a team oriented scout suit. I would only have 1 low slot for armor as I would use Red/green pill in my low, along with a range amplifier)
3.) From a hacker: How noticeable is the hacking skill + codebreaker. In short, will I be able to sneak into an objective and quickly hack and GTFO.
I will happily field any questions about a Minnie scout in return.

Ghost out. 1: I find it nifty, particulary when it picks up an assault trying to sneak under a bridge. 2: My lowest heath suit and most commonly run suit runs with merely a single enhanced shield extender and I rarely go below 1, be it isk-wise or KDR-wise. 3: Very noticeable, I treasure this module. Hi Ghost,
I'd advise caution before switching from Minnie to Gal, as we're merely weeks away from better Nova Knife mechanics.
On the topic of squad support, I highly recommend running an Active Scanner. Shared squad-sight is supposed to be disabled, so stacking Range Amps won't benefit your buddies. Short of dropping fancy Uplinks, Recon is a Scout's best bet at contributing to his squad. And nothing beats the Active Scanner when it comes to Recon.
The Gal makes for decent armor tank. But from a hit-and-run standpoint, I'd take shields over armor any day. My Adv Gal (with its two high slots) seems to withstand beatings better than my lightly armored Pro Gal, which has substantially more HP. Seems to me more folks are running anti-armor weaponry than anti-shield weaponry at the moment.
My two cents as a GalScout. o7

Ghost out. I run Gal with knives and enjoy it 1. Yes it is noticeable and handy for me finding targets, catching those suits who think they can sneak around, and estimating success of maneuvers. 2. There is no usually for me, i run different based on game mode, and map. 3. Yes, do it all the time and only skilled at a 3, sometimes using hacked objectives as a means of luring in prey that i can see with passive sensors
Hope that helps, but my recommendation is always do what fits your play style |

If you're willing to sacrifice speed, the Pro Gal makes for a decent armor tank (Marauder comes to mind). But I'd take a Minnie's shields and base speed over the Gal's armor any day. Guess it comes down to your choice of weaponry and playstyle. Seems to me more folks are running anti-armor weaponry than anti-shield weaponry. At the moment, I'd say a Shield Scout is better than an Armor Scout for hit-and-run. Once knives are squared away, you guys are gonna be deadly in CQC. My two cents as a GalScout. o7 PS: Radar's one of our most experienced. He routinely runs Minja w/Proto Knives and a Gek (if I recall). "Effective" is an understatement. This guy's a terrifying opponent.
Thanks for all the feedback guys.
As for the Active Scanner, I already have squadmates running that. So my real concern then would be the Hacking Modules.
Yeah, I love my knives but they are broken right now :(
Gotta say though, that 32m Radius looks downright sexy on paper. However, one more Low slot would erase all of my doubts for my Minnie suit. Thanks again for the feedback. |

I think we concluded some time back that 3-4 complex dampeners would be required to get one's profile down to 15 dB. Not really worth it, in my humble opinion. That Meta 9 scanner is terrible and very few run it. 28 dB is optimal, IMHO.

I know the 28db is optimal and what my main fittings are adjusted to. I also know I don't need to have 15 precision I just need lower than 25.82 to see those scouts only set to beat 28
I have many fittings so if a scout beats my passive scan in a match then I have a fitting to come back with. Even working on A nice logi scout hunter using only passive scan. Not in any way saying my super scan suits are for starting a match with. Just special case with little DMG/eHP. I have 0 in active scanner and have no plans on ever spending a point in it.

Ghost out.
Allow me to add my feedback as well on this.
1.) The racial bonus is not that noticeable unless you dedicate some low slots (of which you only have 2 at STD and ADV level) to range enhancement modules. The standards scan range is 10m, with an additional 50% for the range enhancement skill (at L5), and another additional 50% for the Gallente scout bonus (at L5). This puts you at somewhere between 20 - 23m, depending on how these bonuses stack with each other.
Adding another Enhanced or Complex range amplifer is getting you close to 30m, or slightly above: this is noticeable and quite helpful in terms of getting the drop on people. However, for this 'benefit' you have now taking range enhancement to L5 and are using a low slot for a range module. Leaving you in a slower scout suit with only 1 low module to use for what: kin/cat? What about your armor - it's an armor heavy suit so do you want to rep that?
Many times i've considered a better scout fit to just be allocation my low slots to speed mods and/or an armor repper, with highs to shields and just go with an active scanner, as noted in other posts, which also allows teams to see your scanned enemies. If this makes more sense to me, the preferred suit here is the Minmatar (which I may eventually spec into).
2.) My Gal scout is 87 shield, 160 ish armor. that's with shield/armor skills to L5 and no slots allocated to additional HP mods. This is what my 'recon' suit has with the high slot filled with a precision ehnancer, and the lows both with range amplifiers. It's a squishy, slow and non-repping suit.... but it rocks for holding down an objective and getting the drop on folks.
3.) My hacking skill is L4 (20% passive bonus) and I should have L5 by this Friday. IT IS AWESOME. I can get to and hack 2 points on the initial run before anyone else even gets to the first one (unless they are in vehicles). Additionally, I can hack red objectives much more quickly and it noticeably minmizes my exposure. I don't bother with code breakers given my limited slot count. I highly recommend skilling into the passive hacking skill.
A minmitar PRO w/ active scanner, kin/cat + cardiac regulator, shield mods and passive hacking is highly versatile in terms of combat effectiveness and point capture.
A gal PRO w/ complex shield, kin/cat, 2 range mods and maybe an armor repper can do the same but doesn't need a scanner (UNLESS looking for scouts with PRO scanners) and instead can go with uplinks or remote explosives.
Both scouts can really smash face on enemies if played right. It's kind of up to what you like better.... stealth (Gallente, as no one gets and advance notice for passive scans. I.E. there is no "you have been scanned" message) or speed/attack (Min.) Either one can work - and you can make either one work fine.
For me, I plan to just skill up both eventually. :)
And get that snazzy Min/Gal Pirate gear if they ever come out with in.... (2014?) |

I hope the actual Gallente blaster, when released, will be fun to use still.
I have also found much success with the AR. It's hard allocating points to skill up the Shotgun and AR simultaneously, but it is nice to have a range advantage for those times when I just don't want to be running around all over the place in a high stress environment trying to get those shotgun kills.
That being said, nothing quite holds down an objective like a hard to detect scout with passive scanning and a shotgun. And it can be quite relaxing in it's own right.....
I don't think I could permanently choose one over the other. It is just too much fun turning an unsuspecting medium suit into a fine red mist at close range.
I guess what I really really need is to use my 'Black Eagle' scout suits with the Shotty / AR combo.

My observations & test with SGs. After first shot all your next shots goes to last hit location but not all pellets. Lets say we have 12 peelets, shoot once, move\turn bit right (so you can see your previos hit location) shoot again, 11 pellets goes to last hit location & only one goes to where you aiming. Thats why we don't do dmg at all or barely scratching target (you can miss with that one pellet or hit with ***** dmg). This works always 100% for me (currently can't make vid). That means if you turn more than 90 degrees, you won't hit anything, it does "poof\fart" shot, you shooting into yourself (but you can't kill yorself ) Also that means you can kill targets around the corner uo to 90 degrees by preparing "first" shot (shoot twice for sure). Look around the corner, shoot, go back, pop out you gun just enough without exposing your body, wait for your victim moves to the edge of that corner, shoot again, laugh |

Thats why we don't do dmg at all or barely scratching target (you can miss with that one pellet or hit with ***** dmg). This works always 100% for me (currently can't make vid). That means if you turn more than 90 degrees, you won't hit anything, it does "poof\fart" shot, you shooting into yourself (but you can't kill yorself ) Also that means you can kill targets around the corner up to 90 degrees by preparing "first" shot (shoot twice for sure). Look around the corner, shoot, go back, pop out you gun just enough without exposing your body, wait for your victim moves to the edge of that corner, shoot again, laugh Just was about to test\make vid with Cyrius Li-Moody, but something went wrong i've lost Moody
You are correct sir. The shotgun is again plagued by strange behavior. Can ccp please test this and try to explain what changed to make this happen? I too feel sullied and switched to an AR. Can't get clean.... So dirty |

If that works, then that would make the SG an even better trolling weapon than REs. |

Hey scouts. Did a search but coming up empty. Just wondering if anyone knows how to calculate how much sp a skill I'd going to cost depending on the multiplier. I know how much say lvl 3 will cost if I'm at lvl 2 of something but what about lvl4&5. What are the numbers I use to calculate a x2, x3, x5, x8 skill etc. Thanks for any help for my ignorance. |

^ Scroll to the bottom for the Skill Planner link. Can't vouch for its accuracy, but its a good start.
