Hey guys need some advice for PC capable fits for my minja and cal scout. I already have a speed hacking fit for the minja and a dual precision for cal but could use some others. Also any general advice for play style/tactics. I'm finding my usual methods aren't quite up to my own standards of performance even if I am helping my team.

You could play it on PS3 until you get a PS4. They will let you transfer your character over, and a lot of scouts here are going the PS3 beta/release route. we have a new barbershop over at bungie.net. keep in touch over there dude!

Ouch. Being that guy sucks :(

But I opened Scouts United (nice to see people there, since R0N1N's channel is silent now) and I'll be continuing to try to become a scarier scout in between bouts of Python and Madrugar antics.

The first question I have, really, is whether it's more useful in the short term to spend the 300+k SP on Minnie Scout 3 or the 200+k SP on Engineering 3. I already have Electronics 5 and Cloaking 5 (logged in with 4.9m unspent SP last month... did not notice the Engineering skill until it was too late). There're times when I feel it'd be great to fit an ADV cloak, or even the proto one, but I just don't have the CPU/Grid to fit more than the STD at Minnie Scout lvl 2.

I mostly snipe, to be honest, but there're maps that just aren't conducive to sniping for one side or the other (or both), so I've been getting in a good bit of practice with dropping links in good places, shotgunning and ninja hacking some of the extra-curriculars like supply depots and CRUs.

#1) Don't tell anyone around here that you're into Madrugars and Pythons. No one will talk to you.

In the short term you would probably see the most benefit from getting your minja to level 3 for the hacking bonus and for the bonus to fitting the cloak.

However, engineering V is an absolute must for a minja scout. The suit is very low on pg to begin with and every bit you can get is very important.

Is it that bad? I just get tired of getting chased off of skyscrapers by the bastards when I'm sniping xD


Roger. I guess I'll be going back and forth from Minja to Engineering, whichever's less SP for the next level (after Minja 3, which is actually 100k higher right now).

Will prolly splurge on Adv Knives in between somewhere, too. Stabbed an Adv Amarr heavy in the back of the head with standard knives on full charge once, then had to dance around him and stab him uncharged three more times. One of my most satisfying kills to date. Would be nice to have better knives...

Minja bonus will add to your knife damage too, so it's a good start if you can get knives to advanced as well, the standard knives are trash.

Were you charging for each strike, or did I do the right thing by just applying what damage i could uncharged on that heavy and focusing on avoiding his sidearm rather than trying to charge the knives as well? Just kinda feeling out where I need the most work as far as "getting good". I already know I need to work on my approach and probably increase profile dampening skill (peeps seem to turn around at just the last second when I'm creeping up on 'em a little too often for my tastes).

8.2m sp and so many skills I still need to train. The weekly bonus SP cap makes this game take longer to skill into a specialty than Eve, even.

The damage value in the knives' attributes - is that with or without charge? Is there a resource/page somewhere that gives the info on damage difference with or without charge? For that matter, anyone know the uncharged damage of the Charge rifle (or is the 315 the uncharged damage as well?)

As for play time, I'm out of work right now so I get on at some pretty erratic times. Anywhere after 5pm EST (which I think is 21:00 Eve time), sometimes I'm on pretty late, like early morning Eve time up until downtime. If I should see you in that Scouts United channel, I'll definitely holla! When it's late night for me, my gf is sleeping a few feet away so I avoid the mic as well, but I use her bluetooth keyboard to communicate between matches. I run with TrueXeroz in D-UNI any chance I get, and he's never complained when I'm not verbally active but still managing to keep up with the squad so I guess I'm not too bad in that regard (you should hear that guy sometimes when he gets aggravated :p )

I've used the shotgun twice and decided it wasn't my thing, so 2/3 of my fits have a knife instead. Unless you're crazy good with it, the nova knife is very situational, but damn is it effective when you get the chance.

Detials on knife damage below.

Listed damage is per-blade, and you swing twice (once with each hand) per attack animation.

Charged damage is 2.5 on base damage, per knife.

So with no additional skills or mods.

Standard
normal - 90 per knife/180 if both hit
charged - 225 per knife/450 if both hit

Advanced
normal - 150 per knife/300 if both hit
charged - 375 per knife/750 if both hit

Proto
normal - 200 per knife/400 if both hit
charged - 500 per knife/1000 if both hit

Throw in the bonus from the Minmatar scout and the proficiency skill, you can hit over 1400 damage for a charged hit from both knives...

So with full skills you should be able to sink all scouts and mediums with a single charged shot, and heavies with a chraged shot plus a normal swing. Hit detection non-withstanding.

And just a word of advice, knifing ain't easy, so don't get discouraged. Target hackers and stationary targets to start with, and work your way up the food chain. Here's some basics tips from a friendly whiskey fuelled merc: Knifing 101
