Master Smurf, you seriously think and additional 0.64 seconds is overkill? On a maxed HP suit that gained an extra complex shield extender? Or did you just see a value and think that it sounded high?
Why are you looking at it from killing scouts point of view even though your Scout suit is getting a built in rep, mine has the ability to add more shield and/or armour with the added slot plus increased CPU/PG.
Most of the Assaults are rumored to be getting additional tank, sentinels are getting tank. Then when you are not in the optimal of the rifle you will be doing even less damage.
At the moment I run a CR in a basic suit with no damage mod and an advanced suit with a CR and an enhanced dmg mod and I can tell the difference. When you add in the fact that a little lag or whatever happens when you are running sluggishly and even easy kills can become more difficult because the opponent seems to have on a hardener... You go ahead and drop 20 %
If 15% makes a difference and everyone extols the benefit of getting proficiency why wouldnt a 20% drop make a difference?
Isnt this what we dont want CCP doing - changing multiple variables to solve a problem that may need slight adjustment?

Who cares if there's an influx of scouts? Inexperienced scouts are easy to hunt. They move like assaults on routes assaults would take. Long time scouts are much craftier about movement/positioning/routes.

Currently though, we aren't too bad off. Installation scanning is gone so we can take enemy objectives without every enemy knowing where we are. Increased scan range (10->16) is helpful to passive scanning Gal scouts.
However, be prepared for lots of tanks. They are everywhere. Also heavies with CRs/RRs.
1.8 can't get here soon enough.

I'm looking at it from a view point of people killing me in CQC when I'm running Dragonfly with a shotgun or an M-1 with nova knives. I'm showing you the changes to absolute values. Duvolle AR damage -20% takes 47 bullets or 3.68 seconds to kill a fully tanked out Gallente Assault, which may acquire +5% to armor plates per level bonus. Fully tanked out kits aren't actually used in play. Instead they are showing you the maximum change possible in TTK by decreasing damage by 20%. You called it "overkill" which it is not.

I would not say a let down IWS, I gave it a given for the most part. I have become Patient, being a full time scout. what "We" got from you, and the replies from Devs just a few weeks ago was an eminence amount of preliminary information prior to 1.8 Big changes are coming, and for once, for the scout. Thou I have seen lack of blogs, Dev's commenting on threads, I am cool with that, patients. There is a lot to be done prior to 1.8 They will come back, refreshed with new vigor and determination. (I always do at least after a nice vaca out in the woods, on the water)
even thou I might be new to the game, 11ml+ sp, 2ml+ sp banked, I realize this is going to be BIG.

If I play the way I play and enjoy it, I don't see a problem with more scouts showing up. I don't want the suits to be OP, or become FOTM. It would be nice if people just used what they found to be fun and suiting to their play style, and many people will do this. Some of them will chose scout, and that is great, I feel sorry for those who wish to dedicate to any role when a big shift like this happens though. Sometimes old school users of the suit will be weary of FOTM chasers and not be as helpful and friendly as they would have been when the suit was underused, UP, or just challenging to use. This applies to any suit not just scouts, look at the grief people take speccing into Logi, the assumption that it was just to be "slayer logi" was an underlying issue in many discussion. I hope to avoid making assumptions of intent myself, but it may be hard.

By the math alone it is nowhere near the level of drastically changing the game that you seem to be QQ'ing about. I reason I put those number without proficiency 5 or damage mods is because TTK is just that much shorter which makes the change that much less significant. It is helping the low eHP suits by a fraction of a second to get to cover and it makes little to no difference to the high eHP players that don't feel the extra time anyway.
And btw, "my suit" isn't getting a built in repper. My Gallente Suit it. I've got a Minmatar too and will have a Caldari one as soon as they're released.

Firing the gun for 1 second and following with a melee, I can deal 770dmg. That is some CQC prowess right there
FYI- Melee attacks get the autoaim benefit as well. So it zeroes you in for that knock out punch.

LOL i feel like such an a$$. I took it off just prior to the shinobi even as i didnt need to waste any money on a free bpo jeep. Forgot to put it on last night and i guess it was the difference. But i think Lag was a huge factor too as it was HORRIBLE last night. Dont know about you guys but it was like being in a PC.
Still a couple of those hits were DEAD ON FULL SPEED.... was very frustrating and so i just went back to trying to manually stick RE's to tanks.
Cant wait for 1.8.... Will be running 2 RE's alot. Those tanks often take more then 3 even after a flux. |

Yup. Knives will be for Surprise attacks.
ACR+Melee will be my go to combo when surprised in CQC (like when you turn a corner and all of the sudden there is a guy 5m away and is about to turn and face you.
Combine with 10.38 m/s, and I should be able to quickly close the distance, spray ACR point blank and melee him.
Not only that, but the scout can melee indefinitly with the new stamina recharge rate
Nothing says "F**K YOU!" like a direct Flaylock to the face.
