I hope 1.8 brings us good news. The dev blog where they speak about scouts is amazing. Good job Knight S. I grief a lot when I play in FW. Turalyon is the chat name for gal FW. I am also having a hard time with this build. I came in to 1.6 with a paltry 0.70 kdr, and with some work built it up to a slightly less paltry 0.74 by ending the last week or two +1 and a few times + 2 and near the top of the boards many times. So far, I am usually in the 0.4 and 0.3 range all of a sudden I don't know if I am just a really horrible shot, and the toned down AA on my SMG is causing the issues, in combination with the RR and CR which are able to kill me before I can get in close. It could be the hit detection problems that others have seemed to notice, and which I have thought I noticed, but couldn't be sure. Then you add in the fix to explosives radius and damage. I can't tell if the odds have just been stacked against me due to the hit detection and new weapons, or if my recent success was due to unwitting inflation by previously broken mechanics. I am one lost scout...
You're not alone, Brother. My KDR's dropped faster in the first week of 1.7 than ever before, from 2.89 to 2.85 in a matter of days. Granted, I tend to do OK on the rare occasion that tanks aren't relentlessly spammed from start to end of match.
Has 1.7 helped or hurt? No idea. Too busy trying to smash tanks to tell one way or the other. |

An odd thing happened to me just now in Caldari FW.
We were losing a whole bunch, as usual. I was spending waaay too much money on G/1 suits with complex shields, etc. So.. i said the heck with it. Toss together a cheap set of Valor suits. A few for every occasion.
and I eventually gravitated towards just 1:
Valor scout BPO (gallente scout level 4) toxin BPO militia scrambler pistol BPO militia shield BPO kincat BPO militia range extender R9 uplink
total cost to me: 3k each.
And then.. the wierdness.
First off, caldari won. WAY wierd ;) It wasnt due to total scrubs on other side: top 5 all had over 1000WP.
But here's the super wierd thing: Only our top 3 players had over 1000 WP. Yet I went 14/6. (and 1485WP, #2 spot)
In a freakin VALOR SUIT !! ??
This.... made me take a little pause. Lol?

It depends on the combat range. In CQC, dispersion is good because while you won't be hitting all of your shots, you have a larger area to keep on the enemy. Heavies have learned the hard way how invaluable dispersion in CQC is. However, at greater distances, you need as little dispersion as possible since the target will be easier to track but be a much smaller target.

The other problem is that it is a CQC weapon that right now can only be wielded by the slowest heavy. Not a good combination. >_<
I believe that is why CCP has been so slow to do anything about the HMG (aside from CCP's general slowness to handle anything that doesn't harm the precious Mediums )

Another odd thing happened tonight. Call this, "Tales of the scout, volume 27", if you like :D
I jumped into a random pub skirmish, for purposes of just testing out stabilty and range of Rail Rifles. I was at an original ground spawn, next to a supply depot, testing out tac reaouts at specific distances from a turret, etc.
About halfway through my testing, I noticed a dropship. behind me a ways back. Just sitting there.
okay.... so, I ignored it, and continued my testing. facing away from it the whole time. (edit: Although I suppose once or twice may have ran towards it, but then turned around @15m away, and continued going backand forth with a turret.. sometimes firing at it ) I must have looked a complete idiot ... but the guy waited for me. maybe 5 minutes or so!
Eventualy, I got done with my testing... and he was still there. No-one else had been around.
Could he really have been waiting for ME?? I didnt recognize the name or anything.
What the heck, I decided to jump in and see what happens. He flew me to the city. It's the one with the two mini-line harvest towers, the wierd double-decker circle, and that rectangle big building, all encircling the 'A' objective. No-one was on the rectangle. He landed on the rectangle, as I jumped out.
oookay... guess I'll look around a bit more...
Seems like A was red, and even though there was practically a whole blue squad trying to take it, the reds were well dug in. But they had no idea I was there. What am I wearing? Hmm... an ADV rail rifle... and an ASSAULT suit BPO, that I happened to throw together for ambush But... hey, it's me. so I also had BPO damps on it.
So there I was, lone gunman sneakily peering out over the edge of the roof taking out reds one by one. They actually tried scanning me.. pathetically.. still didnt know I was there. I'm not sure anyone even looked up. At least 3 spawned back in. I took them out.. and STILL they didnt look up! ("always trust the scanner"? lulz) And so, at last... we got the objective.
The entire tide of the battle may have turned from that point. I think my little actions on the roof, changed a close game, to a win. All because I'm paranoid about stealth... and because one dropship pilot, decided to wait around for a random(?) blueberry.
True story!

First Plasma Cannon blast into tank's "soft spot" ... shields gone! This might actually work!!! Second Plasma Cannon blast into "soft spot" ... armor dropped by 10-15%. Jumped on top of tank as he tried to reverse into me. Climbed atop turret. Fired again ... armor barely budged. Tank reverses rapidly. I'm flung from atop the tank to the ground. Pew Pew. I lose.

Since the patch the whole 'stuttering-run' is getting me killed every once in a while too.
Oh and guys I'm back to running exclusively scout siuits now. So far it hasen't been going all that well but hey placing uplinks all over the place let's me keep up my WPs. I seem to be dying a lot when I am using ADV suits, so I have a few questions...
First off let me share the suit I that I do 'best' (more like not completly crappy) in:
P. GalScout
C. Reactive Armor Plate C. Cardiac Regulator C. Profile Dampener C. Kinetic Catalyzer
P. Uplink (one suit for each variant)
S. Flux Grenade
A. Assault SMG A. Shotgun
C. Shield Extender
...
Soo, trying out all the different lows and highs on advanced suits have been a lot of fun (and a lot of fail sometimes), I've come to really like the C. Range Amplifiers and C. Codebreakers sadly the Advanced Suit only has 2 lows and not 3 for some reason and I am reluctant to give up any of the lows on my proto suit.
Does anyone run a suit with Codebreakers successfully or is hacking something better left to medium suits? And does anyone fit Range Amplifiers on their protosuits?
Oh and guys I just want to share this: Creodron Shotgun - CPU:93, PG:14 Duvolle Specialist Shotgun - CPU:78, PG:11 Federation Creodron Specialist Shotgun - CPU:51, PG:7
You'll be finding me in Gallente FW for a while!

I'm right here. 0 Dispersion is best. from ten meters to 30m range is dominated by the Sharpshooter weapons. exceptions for modded controllers and Viziam scrambler Rifle- though works with CR too but few want to change to a less effective version.

Scout Registry wrote:
Three Questions for Scouts
Given: Assume cloak is released as a piece of equipment tailored to the Scout.
Question 1) As a Scout, what combat / support functions do you currently perform most often? Question 2) In performing those functions, which equipment type currently serves you best? Question 3) If said equipment were replaced by cloak, could you perform that function?
The MedFrames cried "unfair" when we asked that cloak be "built-in" to our suits; so we've asked for a second equipment slot. Let's cross our fingers and hope that someone was listening. Otherwise, we will only trade one form of ineffective for another.
TL;DR - Scouts will need two equipment slots if Cloak is released as Equipment.
1) Place uplinks, Remove enemy uplinks, Hack unguarded point - if I catch anyone alone and/or by surprise I (try) to take them out. 2) Uplinks, though I would do weird stuff for an extra EQ slot 3) No. Having to chose a cloak over uplinks would defeat my primary objective.
If the cloaking devices are personal I would switch to one, if they are placed equipment (like a nanohive) I probably won't.
