Ruthless Lee wrote:So, scouts ... what do you guys think of the new rifles? I've caught a bit of commentary in the chat channel, and I've used the standard versions of each (and the AUR assault versions of both as well) ... just wondering what everyone feels (so far) regarding their usefulness to the hard-mode community, and I'm also curious to see what you guys think about going against the new guns...
I haven't tried any of the new rifles yet, and probably won't for a while. I've definitely been hit hard by both the combat rifle and the rail rifle, but like others have mentioned I'm not sure I'd like to say they are OP at the moment.
Similar to the AR and the scrambler, if I am caught in the open I tend to get shredded pretty fast... but I have noticed I do get a bit of reaction time so that if I am close (really close) to cover, I have been able to duck into safety with a minimal amount of shields left (10 or less) more than once. This sort of situation isn't as bad as going against an SCR though, as with damage mods or against an advanced or imperial I'm basically dead before I can react.
With these rifles I do get some chance to react.... although it could be that folks just haven't maxxed out these weapon trees yet.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with the update as of day 1, including the new weapons, new FW changes... the speedy tanks are annoying but at the moment are the only things that seem a bit over the top.
It's just too bad I don't really need any of the stuff in the Gallente or Minmatar FW store..... oh well, I'll still keep it real for my Gallente and Minmatar brothers and sisters. Just have to collect my other stuff via salvage and the 'regular' store..... |

At first glance, it appears that they're both effective but they've yet to strike me as OP. I'm reserving judgement until folks hit Proficiency V, Sharpshooter V.
IMHO, the aCR runs highest risk of earning EZ Mode title, though I'm hesitant to label it prematurely. Kinda funny, this acronym, give MW3's slightly OP, MLG-favored assault rifle, the ACR. LOL .
Just like the Assault CR is the "good version" of the CR.. .the Assault Rail is the "good version" of the RR.
No surprise. they're following a pattern here. both are level 4. Just like the TT3 pistol.
before level 4... "okay, this is.. interesting".
at level 4, you suddenly get a weapon that is "WELL, ALL RIGHT THEN!"
Of the two, I kinda like both, but I like ARR more. ohgood grief.. I just notice that. Is that... really.. a coincidence that it is so close to "AR"? ! gahhhh....
but anyways, I like it it has somewhat good accuracy and damage @60m... IF you crouch and aim, sniperstyle. But it's definitely Hard Mode. There's no scope -- you have iron sights. (similar, yet different, to the iron sights of the A-CR)
Now I have to save up for it on my main char. sigh.. |

Flix Kirpatrick (spelling?) withstood direct impact/detonation by my jihadi-jeep ... cruising at full speed with 3 Std REs affixed to front bumper. I imagine two sets of REs might have done the trick. Just an FYI.
Also, I'm able to climb about the surface of a stationary tank, but once its moving, I'm instantly knocked off. Anyone else have success riding a fast-moving tank? How about jumping onto a slowly moving tank?

How are the new CR and RR? I died to them a lot, but I am just curious if this is because they are new or popular, or can they be classified as EZ mode.
RR is a powerful rifle. It rips people apart in CQC (those poor shotty scouts never stood a chance against my shiny new rifle). Its kick isn't too bad allowing the rail rifle to work fairly well in longer distance. However, once you start firing the gun does not like moving. It feels like my sensitivity dropped to 10% of my normal settings once I started firing making tracking with the gun an incredible pain.
Also, the rail rifle has made my passive scanner scout a force to be reckoned with. I can see enemies coming so I know to warm up the gun just before I pop around the corner and tear the unfortunate enemy apart.

I used to easily flux the shields off a tank, run up it's ass and double flaylock into a fireball. but that was CoreFL nerf.
Tell me it's good again? Save the parts where tanks leave orbit.

The Scout Registry is designed to monitor the health of Uprising's standing Scout Community. Players meeting the following criteria may register via thread response:
- Have graduated from the Academy.
- Wear a Scout/Light-Frame > 50% of time in combat.
- Agree to be honest (dedicated vehicle pilots who happen to wear a Scout Suit do not qualify).
- Agree to announce your departure should you later opt-out of the Scout Suit.
I meet the criteria but I have way less than 1,000 kills. And I run scout with multiple characters.

I've never actually felt so beast in a scout suit since beta, I've been getting 800-2500 wp ranges like it was nothing. My 1.7 theory crafting is actually paying off
I also think armor tankers are dialing it down due to how fast the new rifles chew through them and there are those who don't know how to fight without proto and are suffering without it (to save on isk). And I'm still using my same pistols, about to hit level one in standing in my next win.
Lets see how long this lasts.

I have tested this and it has no dB at all had a huge group of mediums going in for hacks and they did not show up based on installations or objectives.
Also I was able to hide right next to an objective and they didn't notice me.

Installation Omniscience is gone!? If so, this is great news :-) Has anyone observed indication otherwise?
Flux / Flaylock vs tank!? The tank you popped was been beat down to nothing, right? I must see this for myself ... will test :-)
On Explosives:
1) Versus infantry, is the blast radius of wall-stickied RE's comparable to that of a ground-based RE? ^ We've had reports that "reach" of RE blast degrades when affixed to wall.
2) Versus tanks, are Proximity Mines profoundly ineffective vs armor still ... has anyone tested? ^ They're likely moving too fast to stop on prox-alert. How many are needed to pop tank on cooldown?
3) Has anyone run the numbers on Effective HP of a Tank while it's hardeners are up? ^ Wondering if my 6-RE Jihadi-Jeep will suffice if the "brave" tanker happens to have his hardeners up. |

1) I don't know about anyone else, but I seem to be missing out on a lot of damage/kills on wall stickied RE's ... started testing it out, after noticing that I wasn't getting kills that I knew I should have picked up. Even baiting people and then watching them come around corners, I've watched my RE explode right beside a red ... and do almost no damage. |

Hi Parkour!
Of the six "CLOSED" signs hanging in the window, how many did you fail to observe while walking in? Methinks you may lack requisite powers of perception to be a Scout ... (just joking).
In all seriousness, the Registry is no longer accepting applications. It is permanently offline and has been memorialized. Blah Blah Blah. The guy who handled all the stat-tracking committed Forum Suicide.

He fled to just behind a hill to get cover from his left (not guessing I was behind him. Explosives (nades/re) seem to have had a ninja nerf to their explosive radius. Either they finally fixed the issues with explosive radius dealing full damage at all distances from the center point. Or they got a direct damage nerf. I think they fixed the radius problems.
Ive been noticing less grenade kills in the feed and it might also blow back onto MD users and RE users.
Proxy mines might be even more effective. The trick with proxy mines is to lay them in a straight line where the driver will run them over, rather than in a large clump. Tanks could usually "stop" before too much damage was taken, now with their high speed it might be impossible to stop in time.
You can also lay a freak ton of mines down. So fill up a suit with proxy mines and lay all three types down on the ground. Also lay down remotes of all three types next to them. Think that's something like 50 mines on the road.
I am skilling into CR because of the lower fitting requirements. Its even less than the AR, which is why I skilled into the AR to begin with....darn scout PG/CPU problems. Its icing on the cake because I want to run be able to get them from the winmatar FW store as well.
