yeah. CR may be the 'best' new weapon in some ways.... but I still love me some RR. it just.... feels so right

Okay a few observations after my first night with the update.
Played most of it on my altGǪ Learning curve seems a bit harsh with so many changes not surprised by this. Combat Rifle, is a nice weapon for me. Controlled fire is great, damage output is niceGǪ and rangeGǪ not used to having range so this is good. Also my favourite thing about it (besides the awesome look of it on a Min scout) is the sound.. it is quiet. Sticky REGǪ AWESOME AWSOME AWESOME Stealth at installationsGǪ nice for us, but expect more scanner spam because of this.
Now on my main (this account)GǪ only had a few matches before sleep time. Wow i sucked my first match with the RRGǪ Range is excellent, spool up is a non issue if you are using it from a distance and hidden. It's loud thoughGǪ not sure I like this. Part of my problem with the RR is that it may not be what I was hoping it would be. I intended to use this for fittings to balance out the open area maps. It may work for this but i need to get more practice with this, also I was not engaging in my usual way (the urge to surge forward was to strong)
Also in Gal FW watch for Appia, she has an S&M thing going onGǪ Pain and Punishment
Highlights for me so far Flux and Flay HAV kill Throwing a RE onto a LAV, leaping over it and KABOOM (killed the driver) No FF kicks despite using RE (Appia did it on purposeGǪ not my fault, and no kick)

I kinda agree with this. I was expecting a highly accurate, low-kick, fully-automatic gun that dealt insane damage but had an incredibly low RoF.
I still love the RR though. Haven't tried the CR, yet.

On Tanks, continued ...
Spent the past 3 or 4 matches rolling about jihadi-jeep all effing match. Ffirst time's fun, but all match? Not fun :-( Seems suddenly that friendly tanks are disinclined to engage hostile tanks. Amazing.
Anyhow, I've made some observations:
* Per Appia's advice, upgraded jihadi-jeep (JJ). Now using 6 REs vs 3 REs. * A hardened, full-health tank can still withstand full-speed, direct impact by JJ. * It appears that a tank cannot withstand an full-speed, direct impact if hit from behind by JJ. * Helpful to have squad lead place "Attack Order" on tank, this way JJ can approach from behind. * Full points are awarded for Suicide (tested and confirmed multiple times) * Assist points are awarded for bail-and-bomb (only tested once, could be wrong). * Place REs on bumper of JJ rather than hood. Otherwise, hostile small-arms fire may blowup driver. |

Gentlemen, I've recently been trying to kit out my Gallente scout for scanning. However, try as I might, nothing seems to pop up on passive scan!
I'm currently running the Federation Scout GK.0 (which is identical to the normal one) like this:
Duvolle Tactical Assault Rifle M209 Assault SMG
Complex Precision Enhancer
Complex Profile Dampener Complex Range Amplifier Complex Armour Plates Complex Armour Repairer
Nanohive
Unfortunately, I've yet to see pretty much anyone pop up on scan - the only time I've noticed it has been at point blank range with no obstructions.
Does it have any effect through walls whatsoever? Is it worth using? Am I doing something wrong?
Also, would someone mind offering me tips on my fit? The idea is that I flank all the time and CQC murderboat things with the SMG or alternatively pick people off with the TAR - but I really want to try and get passive scanning working to help me with the sneaking.

You're not the only one ... I've been having some issues with my passive scanning lately, too.
Also ... I like your fit. I wouldn't be very handy running it, personally (I'd really miss my knives), but I can see it being pretty useful...

Interesting. If your target's Profile is greater than your Precision then you should be picking him up once he's in range (regardless of line-of-sight obstruction). Unless something was changed ... seems alot more at play in 1.7 than the patch notes suggested.
I've not noticed this change yet with my Dragonfly, ADV, or PRO Gal Suits. (... then again, I've been on g*d-d*mn tank duty, dang near every match I've played.)
Perhaps a bug with the Federation variant? Have you tested other Gal suits?

@Arkena
Passive works, I can assure you. I have 2x enhanced and see just fine (still working towards cmp range amps). Assuming you have Gal5, you should be able to see anyone not a scout or using dampeners within ~50m. As far as I can tell, walls do not affect scan radius or results. Some have reported hills block passive though.
Why are you running with a cmp dampener? A basic should be all you need (assuming you have Gal5).
I'd also recommend switching out the plate and repairer for either just the repairer or a reactive and add another amp. I've had the best luck with scanner scouts by forgoing eHP to maximize my ability to see. If you are spotted, the extra ehp from a single plate isn't going to extend your life by much.
In addition, are you able to quickly down enemies with the TAC? The shorter the fight, the better off you are. If you are having trouble ending the enemy fast enough, you may consider switching to another weapon.

Flux / Flaylock vs tank!? The tank you popped was been beat down to nothing, right? I must see this for myself ... will test :-)
On Explosives:
1) Versus infantry, is the blast radius of wall-stickied RE's comparable to that of a ground-based RE? ^ We've had reports that "reach" of RE blast degrades when affixed to wall.
2) Versus tanks, are Proximity Mines profoundly ineffective vs armor still ... has anyone tested? ^ They're likely moving too fast to stop on prox-alert. How many are needed to pop tank on cooldown?
3) Has anyone run the numbers on Effective HP of a Tank while it's hardeners are up? ^ Wondering if my 6-RE Jihadi-Jeep will suffice if the "brave" tanker happens to have his hardeners up. 1) I don't know about anyone else, but I seem to be missing out on a lot of damage/kills on wall stickied RE's ... started testing it out, after noticing that I wasn't getting kills that I knew I should have picked up. Even baiting people and then watching them come around corners, I've watched my RE explode right beside a red ... and do almost no damage.
I have noticed this too. I got many of my kills in previous builds from REs, but now I seem to get significantly fewer. I even watched the RE explode at an objective while it was being hacked, with no kill

Fitting Input ... Complex Dampener may be overkill, depending upon your Racial Scout Level. For more details, see: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1247755#post1247755Also, Precision Enhancers are good for picking up Scouts, but tend to not come in handy very often once your passive Precision is past Lvl(2). I'll take this back if and only if (1) we observe an increase in dampened MedFrames or (2) we observe an increase in average Scouts per match. For now, I'd recommend swapping these out for a Shield Extender or Damage Amp. Your fit's tankiness is good place to start. If you find you're consistently dropping your targets and having lots of HP to spare, it may be safe to switch to a fit with decreased HP in exchange for increased Mobility. I go back and forth between speed/stamina and brick-tanked fits, often in the same match. Just something to keep in mind :-)
So it'll definitely pick them up if they come into range? Interesting.
I'll try the other suits. Perhaps it's just me. Precision enhancer swapped out for a damage mod, thanks.
Perhaps I'll try several different fits. I'm running out of space for my fittings, but oh well.

Edit: Also, REs are an amazingly wonderful thing when you can see your enemy's exact location (though you need to be near a supply depot for this fit to be sustainable).
I'm running a complex dampener because... uh. It looks shinier? I'll drop it to a basic then, thanks! I'll try out a fit with another range extender instead of a plate, but I feel very nervous with 200 HP. I don't have that much more anyway, but at least it's something.
I am able to kill fairly quickly with the TAR, yes. The SMG is also very good at killing people in CQC. The main reason I'm running the TAR is for the flexibility in engagement range - being able to shoot at long range and then hide with my SMG out and passive scans running is the ideal behind this fit.
I absolutely love REs, but I've actually been running a scanner (not a nanohive, my bad) because I've not been finding the passive scanning that great. I'll see if I can boost it up a bit so I can run those wonderful little packages of death.
Thank you kindly for the advice guys - It's much appreciated.

Minor note. I wouldn't recommend using both amps and a scanner together. The scanner will notify enemies that you are in the area and your reduced eHP from using a damp and an amp will make it difficult to confront an aware enemy.
Also, feel free to create a second fit changing out the damp. Proto scanners are fairly rare in pubs (not sure about FW) so you can swap it out for something else and just pull out the dampened fit when a wild proto scanner does appear.

Absolutely agree.
As a rule of thumb, I start every match without a Dampener then switch fits if/when I'm scanned. In the past, I've only run into proto scanners when facing proto stompers. |

Combat rifle is an AMAZING all around weapon. Decent enough in CQC, yet strong enough at range. The sight makes using it difficult, but in mid range engagements, it rules.
I'm running it on my ADV scout with Nova Knives. It's amazingly effective. '
Good thing that I practiced with the Burst AR all last month. I'm loving how it's paying off.

The flux takes out the shields good enough, but the flaylocks do donky dickle to the armor. I never could get around to the tanks rear because of their ungodly maneuverability and invariably the tank and I would part ways no worse for the wear.
Sadly, the hopes I had for such a suit have been dashed.

Good to know! What we've gathered thus far:
Swarm Launcher Doesn't matter how many millions of SP your have in the Skill Tree. You'll land one volley, then they speed off like a freakin' gazelle.
AV Nades Same as above. You'll land you're first two, then off they go!
Friendly Tanks Perhaps if its yours, but don't count on your team. Blue and Red Tanks appear to ignore one another. Could be because Tank Combat consumes too much ammo. Don't know.
Forge Gun https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1591583#post1591583 ^ Haven't confirmed for myself, but this doesn't sound promising. Anyone?
Flux/ Flaylock https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1594549#post1594549 ^ Thanks, gentlemen. Good to know. o7
Jihadi-Birds Tested with corpmate. DS camera angle does not favor the seemingly req'd nose dive. *** Worth noting that SL can paint Attack Order on tank from DS if he mans a turret. ***
Sticky REs Require that the tank you mount sit still long enough for you to place munitions. Rare. Seems I'm unable to stick REs to the side of a tank that's moving. Anyone have luck here?
Jihadi-Jeeps Effective, though this time-consuming and error prone. Best to hit tank from behind. Lower odds if struck elsewhere. Helpful if SL can paint hostile armor.
Prox Mines Theoretically sound, though unconfirmed. - Gentlemen?
Orbital / Warbarge Strikes Theoretically sound, though unconfirmed. - Gentlemen? |

Buddy of mine(ex-tanker but worth mentioning) with zero points in vehicles simply moved away the moment he heard the orbital in a militia soma(not sure if he got damaged significantly or at all but It did not sound like it)
