When I've been discovered, I want the opportunity to either score a few quick headshots to survive or have enough time to escape and come back from the enemy's blind spot. The current build of Dust rarely allows that. The current build of Dust only rewards straight forward ram-yourself-into-the-enemy play by having way too low of a TTK and encouraging everyone to run a scanner (even if I avoid them, it is still a problem for the game overall).
This isn't the Dust I want to play, so I'm simply not going to play it. I have better things to do with my time than subject myself to this twitch grind.

Dude you sound like me this month. Novembers "Proto-stomp On!" events have really done me in. HD is truly a marvel, though too many band-aides were left on that now need to come off, making this game, exactly as you said, twitch. Not my style either... was kind of the whole reason I was so into Dust to begin with. It's to the forums for me and to the games I put aside for my PS3. |

If that were a true description of dust today, I would not now be getting KDRs close to 1 most matches myself.
I suck at 'twitch shooters'. I'm over 40, for goodness' sake.
Whats that saying from some movie... "age and treachery win over youth and exuberance any day" ?
its only a twitch shooter if you let yourself get suckered into the kill box.

Appia, you will be missed. You look great in the suit.
For the most part, I tested and tweeked a mousey controller system. It does good, I am sure it will do better when I have a correct pad for it to track on. But, being use to a PS controller for over 15 years... A new learning curve is what I was NOT expecting. Mousey has it's merits, need a little more time with it.... maybe.

***Making Precision Matter***
1) Decloaking heavily dampened Scouts who are using the cloaking equipment
As a minor role it can then work as a counter to highly dampened cloaked units, remember cloaks don't protect you from scanning, they just make you physically invisible, so a higher precision stat than the cloaking unit would essentially render the cloak useless when in scan radius.
2) The major aspect of precision would be applied to Tacnet Jammers, while the equipment themselves will apply a range of effects, the ability to reach targets will be based off of suits precision stat beating our their profile stat, since you can't infect what you can't electronically target.
Equipment: TacNet Jammer
Turns off the mini map, turns off IFF (identify friend foe) indicators, prevents calling in of vehicles or strikes, prevents squad orders. Further levels into the equipment allows it to apply more effects
3) Also similar to how computer viruses are rendered harmless when your computer is able to identify and isolate the rogue program, the precision stat could also be the ewar resistance stat.

Good stuff.
TL;DR Is it possible to blow up HAVs with knives?
With my crap gun-game and refusal to run proto (I suspect the latter is due to the former), I may have to resort to troll tactics in the winter carnage event just to keep having fun in DUST. I've had fun with a militia forge gunner fit on occasion, but will favour my scout RE troll fit just coz it feels better to destroy proto mercs as a scout.
Anyway, I think I digressed.
I am curious about something I did a few weeks back. I blew up a LAV (and myself with it) by attacking it with nova knives. It didn't take long, not sure what LAV it was (nobody was in it), probably MLT, and I only have basic knives. But with the fun I've had recently trying to blow up tanks with REs, it's occurred to me that .... is it possible to blow up HAVs with knives?
I am tempted to dump ~500K of SP I've got saved for CPU level 5 into knives. Dunno if that'll get me up to proto but....i want to run advanced anyway.....
If a proto knife, charged, double swipe can deal 800 damage..........anyone tried this?

you can no longer hurt vechicles with knives a few patches back it was possible to kill a tank with knives. i have maxed prof and proto minny the knives do 1428damage if both blades hit. i have only taken one tank out with knives and had swarm help to do it but this was when uprising first came out. in chromo build i use to blow cru's up with knives it took forever |

LAV hubcaps operation level 5, you get black hubcaps.
I also want to say that if you run a high eHP you are still a scout in my book. As long as you wear the suit, we can use whatever guns we want. We are making it work in our tiny suits. Man, the min scout reminds me of a little kid, a little kid with one eye. Yeah, creepy. Someone called us gallente "dolphins", for our little bump on our foreheads. kinda random, but i've been noticing this more so than ever lately. I managed to kill a heavy who tried to ride up on me in his LLAV and HMG with my pistol and knives. I immediately drove his logi lav into the redline. I killed an idiot fairly quick because I don't remember how. I hacked his car (something I don't usually do), and was driving it around my obj. I didn't want to drive far, I didn't know what to do because I don't hack cars. I see the end of a cliff/ditch and decide to run over it as I jump out.
I watched his car go down the ditch, went back to defending; later I heard an explosion. |

So last night I skilled up to lvl 3 knives because I was just messing around with lol fits with some corp members. We did a whole match with knives. Keep in mind I am one of 2 scouts in my corp. And I have to say they were tons of fun. I just might have to go to proto knives and run fits like moody does. Anyone want to teach me the knifing ways? |

My typical suit has just one enhanced shield extender for protection, that's what, 230 health overall? Anyone else go lower? I have core armor and shield to level 5, so get the passive HP buffs but don't use plates or extenders on any of my fits at all. I can't remember off the top of my head what this gets me to eHP wise but it's like 3 shots from a duvolle :(
On another note, lots of people are talking about the proto stomp because of this event and I'm confused... getting kills with proto weapons earns quafe suits, so are non-scouts who can't even use them really still running proto? I would have thought everyone else would be running adv gear so they can get all the proto weapon rewards?
That said, I suppose they'll just be running proto suits with adv weapons and tonnes of damage mods and tank because of the extra fittings room. Aw balls, not looking forward to getting on later...

The proto types with proficiency absolutely. You'll have trouble one shotting a fully tanked gallente assault/logi or sentinel though.
It's more about how you use them I think. You can hit them with a high alpha charge and an SMG or pistol will bring them down with much ease right after.

Hm. I'm on the fence. I consider RE's Stealth kills cause you are never there when they go off, but I love the sudden "IM HERE" moments and killing them up in their face.
I played a round with RON1N yesterday where we went up against 12 Molon Labe in FW. We won, but just barely, mainly due to the fact that me and two other scouts made the death toll in the city not worth it for them to take. How? RE's! THATS HOW.
I placed them on the tops of stairwells, the tops of ladders, chokepoints, etc. Just wait for them to run buy and blow them up. I got double constantly.
In short, I like my in-your-face kills, but RE's are dang fun.

I need to be honest here... any kill is a triumph for me! I'll take 'em all! I do however prefer it when I out gun-game someone as opposed to when I out stealth them.
