I have hit detection issues with NK even when an enemy merc is stationary....
I don't know how the game decides what's a true hit or just a shield flash.
I've started moving less toward mobility and more toward tank. People seem to backpedal just as effectively regardless of my sprint speed. |

If you intend to pursue Gallente FW rewards in 1.5, I suggest you prepare to compete at that level. I have Duvolles! It's just that it would seem non-economic to use them considering that the only applicable rewards from this FW to me is the 25 scout G.K0s.
WTF why would you risk more than the rewards? |

OH! I have a very good subject to bring up that I would like to discuss with the scout community first before making an official proposal.
As of now, Profile Dampeners lower your radar detection-profile, that is it. Profile is in terms your detectability by radar in this game. However what if we were to broaden what profile is?
What if we included the following into profile; Sound & Sight
What if Profile Dampeners could reduce noise produced by running/walking and melee, and reduce distance until perceived as an enemy?
For instance a sniper aims down his scope over two frames, heavy and light. The heavy is picked up and it's data is given to the user. Enemy, bla bla bla. But the scope moves over the scout and gives nothing, at the same distance. Basically profile would nerf enemy LOS detection of you.
On top of that, when you need to be sneaky, you boots get covered in shag carpet for silent footsteps.
I understand that the Sound has been proposed before but what really yanks my Tibetan Yak is that LOS defeats profile all the time. I showed up during the testing all the time when I was in LOS. No matter the distance until it was irrelevant. That needs to change IMO. It would also give a most noticeable use towards a lot of medium frames. |

I'm running a standard Gallente scout (level 1 bonus + level 1 dampening skill) and decided to give up one reactive plate (out of the two I had equipped) in exchange for the standard dampener, which should reduce my profile 22% in total. Considering the fact that I'm all but dead if I actually have to engage an opponent, is it worth giving up my other reactive plate for another dampener? It's not as though there's a huge difference between 100/200 EHP and 100/150 EHP! No one knows. So we asked. Still, no one knows. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1243536#post1243536
We do know.
Stacking penalties applies to:
Armor Plates ( The movement penalty is effected by stacking penalties. ) Cardiac Regulators Codebreakers Damage Modifiers Kinetic Catalyzers Myofibril Stimulants Precision Enhancers Profile Dampeners Range Amplifiers Shield Energizers Shield Rechargers Shield Regulators
The TLDR is looking in at this chart:
All skills are assumed to be level 5 and only Complex modules are used.
The chart lists how many 'Complex Profile Dampeners' you need to avoid detection.
The far left column includes: 'Active Scanners' - Highlighted with different colours. 'Vehicle Sensors' - Listed by highest meta level with that 'Scan Precision' 'Suits - x' - Where x is the number of 'Complex Precision Enhancers' equipped.
Link to chart: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvYSJ6FRJlihdDI1NVpNdk5BQUh0bFphNktjLTU3R1E&usp=sharing
Here is the data set: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvYSJ6FRJlihdFVJeWI5NVFUcmYwZERDQWhUSXZac2c&usp=sharing#gid=0
Bulletpoints from the chart / data: * With level 5 in your scout suit and level 5 in profile dampening you only need a militia profile dampener to escape detection from prototype active scanners. * You will, currently, need 4 complex profile dampeners on your scout suit to escape detection from a prototype focused active scanner. * You, currently, need 2 complex profile dampeners on a medium suit to escape detection from a prototype active scanner. * You, currently, need 4 complex profile dampeners on a heavy suit to escape detection from a prototype active scanner.
For further reading about scanning, both active and passive, as well as including test results I suggest reading this thread by Bojo: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&find=unread&t=110984

Sad part is this is how I use to think it worked. come to find out it was a bug and just random players did not give info or cheveron when targeted. would be fun running into a enemy squad and none notice your not one of them other than not having the blue cheveron

Crazy idea here What if nova knifes were like remotes? And I dont mean throwing it I mean the whole L1 R1 thing. IF they put the lunge in the NK it would be cool that I could be used by L1(as it is currently not used) and R1 for normal attack.
L1= lunge(stabing motion), greater range, can charge, 2 second delay after use to start new attack ,only 1 knife used. R1= doble knives, can charge, can slash without delay, no range added

I really think that this would be incredible useful, not being able to evade LOS scanning has gotten me killed more times than I can count. This would be useful for all combat ranges I think. From scout snipers to scouts moving from medium into CQC range. |

Messing around with the fitting tool.
Tried to create a Tough, Fast MK.0 suit.
Here is what I have. You can just BARELY make it work with everything maxed :P
Stats: eHP: 447 294 shields 153 Armor Sprints @ 9.26
2x Complex Shield 1x Basic
Ishukone Knives Six Kin Sub (or a Cala's MK-33 if you feel lucky) M1 Locus
1x Complex Reactive 1x Complex Kincat
1x Compact Hive
Seems perfect for a hit and run kit. Sprint in, get some kills, feel free to take some armor damage, you have both armor rep and a bit to spare. Pop a compact when you need to, get some armor back, and some ammo. You can still sprint for about 21 seconds straight too. Retreat for logi hugs when you need to. |

x1 basic sidearm damage upgrade
x1 m209 assault SMG
std flux nades
x1 std active scanner
x1 enchanced armor plates
x1 basic armor repair
not very expensive but the active scanner/flux nade/SMG is DEADLY, i mean the assault SMG alone is a beast and can chew through shield with the flux is a matter of 0.5 seconds |

Good luck with the new patch tomorrow, all!

Hi CommanderBolt,
The only requirement is that you use a Scout or Light-Frame over 50% of your time in combat. "51% Scouts" are welcome ... no need to measure ... we operate on an Honor System :-) This restriction helps to keep our community statistics clean.
Let me know if I can clarify anything else. o7

Hm. Was playing around with my Enhanced Reactive, and the 1 hp/s really isnt noticeable. (I only have lvl 3 in armor, and 1 in rep at the moment.)
My logic with the complex is still sound. The MK.0 only has about 80 armor from the get go. I would gladly trade 5hp/s for 2hp/s if I can double my armor. It may take longer to rep, but I have compact hives if I need it in a hurry.
It's supposed to work as an inverse with the standard Gallente suit.
With a GK.0, you use the shields as a buffer, and rely on high armor to survive. Combine with repper's and the GK.0 can take solid damage and survive over time.
With this suit, you use the shields as your main source of protection. However, with only 300 shields, you oftentimes go into your armor when the battle is close. Since you really shouldn't be taking huge amounts of armor damage, having only 153 armor and 2 rep a second is more than enough. |
