I have squaded with him plenty of times. He is a decent guy, and definitely a dedicated Minja. Gotta give this guy a point because he did honour a Knife duel with me once, i believe. And let's face how many people did that in 1.8? He is the one that started the channel Nova Knifers United. That place has as many people as Scouts United a lot of times. Thankfully due to the new SP cap, he has very little standing in the way now.
I never saw him post that he didn't have dampen V yet, and I honestly assumed that someone in Saxonmishes new corp would be PC ready.

Going to disagree with both of you on this. $20 is more than a fair price for a respec. Flip burgers for a couple hours and you too can reallocate years of SP investment. Seriously, what is $20? And to compare that to Destiny? You guys have drunk the KoolAid. Bungie is going to take you for $20 every couple months. And for what? A new dungeon and sparklies? Its no different from World of Warcraft. Dust has to generate revenue to stay alive, and I commend CCP and CPM1 for coming up with things we'll actually enjoy spending money on. I see monetization as a step in the right direction for Dust ... a chance for a future and future updates.
20$ is not fair at all. What content do I generate from such a purchase? It provides me with absolutely no better options than I already have currently. It only buys me a couple million SP that I can get back much much quickly by getting a booster instead. In fact I would venture to guess at this stage, its SO much more economical to just buy several boosters, stack them and then use whatever SP you may have wasted and use it to gain SP, not reallocate. It makes absolutely no sense to ever buy a respec with the current SP cap. Not to mention the horrible nerf, buff train that continues. (scouts good, scouts bad, scouts good, scouts bad, scanners bad, scanners good, scanners really good, scanners useless)
I could see $5-7. But $20 is just crazy, you have no reason to purchase it with all the other options. Had they not raised the SP cap, it would be a much better deal.
PS: I only spent an extra 30$ on TWO! destiny expansions. Which will generate likely another 4-6 months of content that is new. If you compare other DLC on the market (COD, Dust, Warframe, PS2, etc), I am getting about twice as much content and that is why I give Bungie my money.

I've always been opposed to respecs so I'm actually glad it's expensive. Otherwise FotM chasing becomes incredibly easy and the game truly becomes pay 2 win.
How many of the old slayer logis specced Cal scout with the 1.8 respec and made that window of time so miserable for everyone involved? I actually know of 4 former "Cal Logis" that did exactly that with the respec and with charlie bitched like mad.
Instead a respec should be seen as a major career choice. For some of us that have multiple alts accumulating passive SP for speccing certain roles this is a non-issue as we already have the roles we want.
As a side note... Just checked, it's been a little over 2 months since I last logged on to Dust. Might hang around a bit this weekend to see what has changed.

Also another thought. With the buff to weekly SP, wont this encourage AFK more than usual? If you've got 3 boosters going there's no way you're going to let any moment pass without getting as much damn SP as you can in order to get the most bang for your buck.

Still, if it were your mission to make succeed -- and Dust had to generate revenue to succeed -- would you not consider selling the very service which folks have clamored the loudest for?
And if so, how would you price the service? If too low, it might appear that you were encouraging FoTM chasing (you'd have clear motive to do so). If too high, people simply wouldn't buy it.
Perhaps $20 isn't a fair price Perhaps it is.
If no folks buy it, then its unfairly over-priced. If all folks buy it, then its unfairly under-priced. If some folks buy it, then its close to fairly priced.

1. Agreed.
2. Not sure if it'll last ... scans are helpful, but they don't appear to pay WP at the moment. They're also bugged in that all scanners are sharing results team-wide (IMO, should only be the sh!ttier scanners).

I played a bit - Got into matches quickly. My innate armor repair wasnt working. I did like the speed of my character though, felt free even though I missed my jumping capability.
I did sell off all my stuff (officer weapons I'm not skilled in as well) and gained about 7-8 mill
I think I may play some more but I wont go full Dust for the entire month. I promptly switched back to Destiny (Crucible) because the weapons just are more satisfying to use. Dust felt a bit hollow.

Perhaps you're right in that $20 isn't a fair price ...
If no folks buy it, then its unfairly over-priced. If all folks buy it, then its unfairly under-priced. If some folks buy it, then its close to fairly priced.
Isn't demand is the truest measure of a fair price?
I've never believed in making cost a way to balance things in a video game. Cost is all relative to the person spending the money; kind of like you said earlier, $20 isn't all the much. As far as marketing goes, it shouldn't matter the actual cost of the item, other that CCP makes the most money off of that service. So if it was $10 (instead of 20), more than twice as many people would have to purchase it for that cost to make sense.
People can go FoTM chasing all they want. This makes it easy and available to everyone. Those who really want to chase the flavor will be doing it regardless of the actual cost of the service. I would actually prefer FoTM chasing only so that CCP would be that much more inclined to fix the buff/nerf cycle. I get tired of the constant changing, its exhausting. How many times have we made a new scout eWAR table, just to understand the metrics of this game?
Revenue should be more focused on vanity items that cost around $2-3 that are BPOs. I think boosters are also a great way to generate revenue, however the fact they increased the SP cap just screams folly to me, you don't speed up the life cycle of your game by 400%.
Sorry for my bitterness, but after FailFest I stopped believing in Dust and CCP altogether. Communication has improved slightly, but how much time prior to 1.9 did they announce the features....a couple days? I just don't understand . I no longer sub in Eve, rather I get on only long enough to make enough isk to buy the Plex and get off, which even that is starting to falter. I haven't logged into Eve in over a month.

Firstly, it costs Gé¼20 when it should be Gé¼15 if it's $20. This bullshit is really ******* annoying, why are we paying more for the same god damn thing?
Ignoring that, videogame wise, there is so much better deals than that. In the past for Gé¼20 I've gotten AC: Black flag, Dark Souls 2 Borderlands 2: Game of the year edition, (played that so freaking much) the Dead Space trilogy and the Jak and Dater Trilogy. But that's pre-owned though, right? Nope. New copies. I actually bought 2 copies of DS 2 and made a Gé¼5 profit on the second one by trading it in. As of right now, for Gé¼20 I could pick up Watch Dogs, Rayman Legends or Skyrim Legendary edition among others.
So Gé¼20 for 1 raid, 1 strike and 3 story missions that take like 10 minutes to finish? Pass Gé¼20 to change skills in a game where I can just play and unlock the thing I want? Pass

Wish a DEV would make an official announcement that they want scout to be HP tanked not eWAR. team shared active scan made scout even more viable HP tanked. I only played a few games, so my perspective is fluid.
It didn't really hurt me too much hacking wise, so far.
Where it really stuck out was in freaking Uplink spam. In all 3 games I saw crapton's of it.
The first two were the same GD GLORY squad thunderbolts, the last was my team with a squad or two of teams that just lit up a city with uplinks.
In the first game, I was in one of the new maps (ironic to me how I jump right into a new map first thing when others have had to wait a lot of games) and ended up under one of the structures at the enemy's Homepoint. I could hear the Uplinks all around me, and when I briefly decloaked, I could see 4 to 6, all right near the objective. I noticed the same pattern that last game when my team spammed them. This could be a fluke situation given the small sample size, but it seemed to me like it would be easier to spam them without cloaked scouts doing their thing.
I would think that Active Scanners would prevent that, but I didn't see the spam everyone was talking about yesterday in those 3 games. Maybe a little more than normal, but not much.
I will keep you updated as things change and as I get some more games under my belt.
One thing that makes this difficult is that they really need to do something about squads vs randoms. If you have a squad on one team, particularly of the same corp, you should stick them across from a similar kind of squad. Its freaking ridiculous to have to find a squad just to play a couple games and not want them to be blowouts.

Loyalty Rank Observations:
Currently about 20% into Rank 9 (106282 points to next rank). Observed over the past five matches:
* Solo. Ambush. 4 wins, 1 loss. * Averaged 700-800 WP per match. * Earned roughly 5 Loyalty Rank Points per match.
Not accounting for LRP awarded from other sources, I will need to play Ambush for over 5,000 hours before progressing to Rank 10 (5314.1 hours at 5 LRP earned every 15 minutes).
Edit: Will test other playmodes both with and without squad ... |
