Yup. ADV Min heavy with Thundergroove giving me Amarr Scout scans.
Bad Heavies were bad. I solo'd a Proto Amarr Heavy two or three times. Can't beat my strafe game.
I think I went 33-1 that game. I love my Winmatar. Can't wait to get that sucker to proto.
By the way One Eye, I also have Proto Min Scout, Assault, and Commando. There is only 1 scout I want to play, and that is my Minja. I had to spend SP elsewhere

I enjoy my Gal Sentinel. 2 complex reps, 1 enh plate. Shield extenders in the highs. Plus burst HMG and just strafe like a mo fo.
Very good for heavy on heavy battles. It's like the heavy shotgun I always wanted. Back in the day I ran forge in CQC for anti heavy. Heavys did (and still do) plant their feet and fire trying to make it a game of "who has the bigger numbers".
"Yeah, you might do 1,100 DPS but I do 1,600 instantly... and you're a nice stationary target..."
Did they go through with that change to kinetic damage profile?

My Fit for the Proto Min Sentinel:
2x Complex Shield 1x Complex Light Damage Mod
Boundless HMG Core Flaylock C-7 Flux
1x Complex Speed 1x Complex Shield Regulator
Hits hard, fast, and stays on it's feet pretty well.
On the ADV, it's a tighter fit.
1x Complex Shield 1x Complex Heavy Damage Mod
MH-82 HMG Gn-20 Specialist Flaylock C-7 Flux
Enhanced Kincat Complex Shield Reg

It's pretty funny running a sentinel in an unpredictable way, a while back with the OP burst I wiped 2 sentinels and then the logi following them in like 7 seconds, they must have been so pissed, wondering how I did that... "Well fellas, between bursts I was letting my armor rep back and only engaging you one on one. I pop out, do a 900 damage burst and pop back having received maybe 400 damage, and since you run blindly towards me rather than taking cover your logi can't rep you in time..."
Side note: Did they go through with that change to kinetic damage profile?
Yes. Projectile is -15/+15 to shield/armor
Which is why a Min Sentinel is actually tougher than it looks. Mine runs around 680 shields with good strafe (I don't run armor).
I've solo'd Amarr heavies before without even going into armor. Even if I do, I have a nice 575 armor buffer to keep me alive while I run

I'd be interested in running sentinel with you ghost (though I'm really out of practice). Running fairly quick, self repping "heavy assaults" is fun, not enough folks are willing to do it, everyone is so reliant on logi reps.

Yeah not overly fond of stealth being a racial bonus. If you're having to lose most of your slots just to function in a given role then that's not much at all. My suggesstion: Take away bonus to knives, give it the same dampening as Gal and Cal, keep hacking bonus, give knives a little buff.

Wow the burst HMG went through a very serious nerf. I've got scouts walking through a full dead on burst and running away. If memory serves it's been nerfed to below pre buff levels. Or it may possibly be hit detection. I wiped a Calmando in one burst but everything else was a real struggle to kill.
Also, got a kick out of firing down on a LAV with three scouts rolling around, it got damaged by a PLC and I fired a burst to kill the gunner and accidentally wiped the whole car.
Yep cloaked shotgun is still the favourite among tanked scouts. That and scrambler rifle.
Cal scout is making a resurgence for some reason, or at least in my games.

We've been over this one a few hundred times, you take away the NK bonus on the Min Scout or make it equally viable/deadly for the others and no one uses the min scout to knife anymore. Obvious hyperbole, but just do a search on musturd's last 10 posts here.

I'd never really bothered to try them assuming the bonus was needed for it to be viable but it isn't, I was actually really surprised how effective they were when I first tried them out.
If you gave Min scouts actual dampening, allowing them to fit stuff other than damps, that would be a very real buff to the suit and actually make Min a more viable suit.

In my ongoing diary of trying out various stuff, spent a few matches running around in this set up.
http://www.protofits.com/fittings/shared/1261/7287
850+ damage per head shot is quite lovely. Though the jankyness of how some people render is annoying. It may be frame rate issues.
Plus knowing your proto suit could get insta killed by a body shot from a militia sniper rifle is pretty fun (250hp). Had some fun running around playing peek a boo with a bunch of revenge seekers in some hills. Though it's making me realise the loss of ewar while cloaked makes that really hard. If they so much as fire in the general direction of my shimmer I'm dead, is it really such a problem that I know where they are and can evade them?
But the shared team scans is really good and makes counter sniping so much easier. I feel like sniping in a scout suit may actually be the way to go (to avoid scans and thus requiring visual scanning to get counter sniped).
I speed tanked to relocate quickly and and get away from hunters showing up on my passives.
We'll bang, OK?

Favorite Sniper Fit:
DS: Scout ck.0 PW: Kal Tac or Charge (depends on map) SW: Pro Knives EQ: Pro Cloak, Std Hive LS: Range, KinCat HS: Dmg Amp (x2), Precision (x2) GR: Flux
Ambush. Hit the hills at start. Shoot and move. Eventually, someone comes looking. Usually pick 'em up before they spot me, thanks to Cal bonus and range extender. Time to cloak up for some sneak and peak. If he turns out to be a slow mover, I try my damnedest to shank him as he looks around for me. If fast mover (or constantly checking six), I try to escape/evade/relocate.
Lots of fun to stab a guy who thinks he's going to get an easy kill ... and the hatemail is delicious :-)
When out of ammo, I relocate, drop a hive, fill up then toss the fluxes 'til they pop my hive. Nothing screams "look around here for a sniper" like big, glowing deployables.
Not going to get tons of kills, but will have tons of fun :-) |

Not going to get tons of WP, but always tons of fun.
Edit: If OHK'd by counter sniper, I downgrade SR to Adv Tac (to save $) then get to hunting, which usually involves attempting to cross the map undetected and occasionally involves shanking the shooter :-). Sniper v Sniper is quite fun as a 250hp Scout ... just don't get hit! I actually run sniper in a similar wayGǪ except I fit Proxies to eat up my hive and lay a surprise on some maps. lay a nest of Proxies and lol when the LAV corollas up to run me down. If I've moved on I occasionally get a +75 or +75 +50 +50

I must go for the evening. Dust has stolen my soul. Will now attempt to Suicide Gank Ghost Was in that match with him against you. I was chasing him in my all EWAR scout and a repair tool. Poor red dots I noticed. You were one of my 2 kills that match I think.
I knew I was in trouble when I saw Ghost's name on the screen. I was out at our home point most of the match, trying to take it back with no luck whatsoever. I stopped when I spawned in an uplink on the roof I had planted, and it was camped by a heavy.
At which point I tried spawning in my Thales to get my revenge, but he was gone by the time I was in position, so I looked into the city. I plinked Ghost a time or two, and some others, but with the range nerf and my rust sniping, I really didn't kill anyone. And apparently that regular sniper rifle is good because I got killed from 430 m away.
Then I tried spawning near the city to drop an uplink at the enemy homepoint. And right when I was in the enclosed building placing the uplink, I was scanned (because my uplink fits don't have damps, for cost purposes, but that may change with this patch), killed from I don't know where (because I was cloaked and trying to be infiltratory, but you know how that is now), tried respawning in my link, but it was taken out before I could even try. Sigh.
So that is when I finally spawned into the city, hoping to drop a remote on Ghost, and I saw you run into view. I soared like an eagle and landed behind you where I was able to take you out. Then Ghost jumped out around the corner (I was hoping he was still in his heavy because I wanted to knife him) and he took me out with a flaylock around the corner. I was trying to find cover, but apparently hit a rail or something and couldn't move anymore.

On EWAR change, I think they should distinguish active scanners as designed to scan mediums and passive scanners as being how to scan scouts (with the exception of focused scanners).
To achieve this the Gal logi bonus should be changed from precision to cooldown. There should also be an advanced focused scanner.
You can keep the majority of Rattati's proposals like 15m passive range.
I don't agree with removing the direction arrow, maybe just for active scanners.
I could even agree with giving profile penalties to all hp mods, as long as it was still viable to use a little hp, and you take into account more scouts will be stacking precision.
The fundamental idea I have, is the active scans are long range, designed for medium or heavy suits that engage at range.
Passive scans are for CQC, designed for scouts and logis (consider reducing logi precision). The balance here should be kept similar to how it is now. Maybe easier for scouts to hide considering the hp mod nerf.
With the Gal logi precision bonus it's just too hard for mediums to damp below scans in a competitive environment.
Also, hp mods being fixed value bonuses, combined with scout low hitbox, speed and regen, naturally encourages scout tanking, which messes up the class. I completely agree with the scout ck.0 argument recently. That thing, with 4 shield extenders, is a better assault than an actual assault suit. It's a close run thing, and a better assault bonus may improve things. But that doesn't change the fact that scouts are inherently encouraged to stack hp. Just because it's shield doesn't make it ok. |

Like Scanners that only have a range of 30 dB to 15 dB? Or 60 dB to 45 dB?
THAT would be interesting.

I can see the need to make Aur a significant portion, but it should be a vast majority... That is just ridiculous.
People who play the game for so long are still important because even if they never spent a dime, without them, who would the Aur payers have to play?
If it were a pay to play game, I guarantee that the number of players would be significantly lower.

Grand Master Kubo, the fellow who won three officer events, has 130k kills to his name and 14 mil WP. He is rank 6.
I have a third of his kills, but I outrank him, because he has never bought AUR. Does purchasing AUR really make that much of a difference in terms of rank? $50 AUR = thousands of hours of battle |

Have a look and see how HP is King. How would nerfing EWAR modules possibly shake up the current meta? I'd expect it to accomplish the opposite.
Because the idea is to change Ewar, not nerf HP mods. HP mods already have a drawback in their fitting, adding on another one won't change their usage. You really think extra profile will make a heavy/assault fit something else? Right now passive/active scans are too strong and since they are squad shared, only a single person has to fit the mod.
Making Ewar mods have drawbacks make you choose one of the three positives, rather than having all three, which make them too strong overall. An Amarr scout can be invisible, see really far and force all other frames to run full damps to evade. His squad can then run full HP mods and not worry about being dampened at all, because they will see 90% of the enemies.
