The Sad History of Bojo: Scout Extraordinaire
I just remembered I was a scout sniper at heart but then the game changed and I changed direction now my heart longs to be scout sniper but that is now so far away I'm still a pilot but the game has changed the Dropship for the worse
I used to run nothing but militia gear back in Codex, I could barely figure out what suited me and I mostly ran the Arbiter fitting. Because Arbiters were already specced one level into snipers I furthered it to NT 511s, and back then Charge Sniper only required level 2 so I used that and the Tactical pretty often. But then when Chromosome hit, I fell in love with the Mass Driver. I then, after seeking help in what used to be just the Training Grounds, I specced into the Type II Assault Suit. I was shield heavy and faster than the Type I. I loved it. Then, when the final days of Pre-Tranquility were upon us, everyone said **** it, and tossed SP into what they pleased. I got Shotguns to 2, the scout suit, and the Nova Knives. I had so much fun with the breach shotgun.
*Insert stuff about Open Beta*
Now here I am, kind of wishing I was an Arbiter. |

Dude.... While I didn't start in Codex I did a similar thing at the start of open beta.... using mostly the arbiter fit with militia and only burning through my SP prior to the move to Uprising and the respecs. I think I had level 3 in all the suits shortly after my splurge.
Why not just continue to spec into the Sniper Rifle? I am working on the shotgun, SMG, AR and Laser Rifle, with intention of getting the Sniper rifle.
People say that to dilute your skills keeps you from being effective, and I agree with this for lower level characers. But once you are reasonably effective at your primary role (as you certainly seem based on my in-game observations), why not branch out?
I prefer to branch into various weapons while keeping focused on my Gallente Scout suit as the platform for these weapons. This gives me operating ranges from extreme CQC (shotgun) to extreme long range (sniper rifle).... and by optimize my sidearm first I ensure that the weapon I have on all my suits (SMG) will do good damage, and require less CPU/PG to use, thereby optimize all my fits a little bit more.
Sometimes I really like mixing it up with the Shotty/SMG, sometimes I want to hang back as a fast scout/assault and burn medium frames with my laser and sometimes I want to sneak around in hills hunting snipers and then sniping myself.
I can do fine with no skills in the sniper rifle, but with a militia damage mod, patience and my trusty Gallente scout suit!
Seems like you could do the same if you wanted!
Plus, I'm really looking forward to using all of my officer and salvage weapons, the big sniper ones being the Thales and the specialist.... of which I have like 97 specialist.... (only 10 Thales). |

I'm not sure exactly how CPM elections will work, so let me clarify my "official" position.
If we're permitted to vote for multiple persons and positions, then I'd be thrilled to support an up-and-coming and articulate member of the Scout Community like you (Mossellia).
If -- on the other hand -- we can only vote for one person, then Aeon Amadi will have my vote. I understand this contradicts our earlier discussion, but as I said I'm unfamiliar with how the elections will be structured.

If i am correct, a scout lvl 5 with dampening lvl 5 + 1 basic dampener module beat the 28 db scanner, i understand the philosophy of CCP to make the 15 db scanner unbeatable because is duration is only 5 sec and cost 18 pg! but to be fair without changing their scanner, to me the equipment you set on the floor need to have the db of the character, what did you think? |

The Meta 9 (15 dB) Scanner has substantial performance drawbacks. It will only be used if/when a sneaky Scout angers a Proto Logi.

When someone takes 2 head-shots from a Kaalakiota Tactical Sniper Rifle and gets to cover before you get your third shot off it is very disheartening I am aware of the long term ill effects of using scout + sniper rifle, but I already have AR + Proficiency and Scrambler Pistol + Proficiency, but I wish that I had a good sniper rifle a lot of the times because when you must traverse in the open, it's just as suicidal to be a scout, so I'd rather not have to run through a gauntlet of hitscan weapons to make my way to cover. I'd rather perch my butt on a toasty vent and lawn chair snipe, then run to supply depot and change out.
I do not regret any of my SP decisions with the exemption of Plasma cannon level one ( For AV purposes). But I wish I had a sniper rifle and I wish the game supported recon. If it did you would not see me pull very much ninja stuff. I like long range things because when you are tissue paper it's better to have a 20 foot whacking stick then a 3 inch blade in my opinion. I started Arbiter class with the vision that I would be like Theodore Roosevelt, "I speak softly but I carry a big stick!" |

(Im at lvl 3 ) 2- exactly 3- well its a proposition since we try to find a role for the scout, i feel its the way to go, a scout with a basic dampening module can have undetectable uplink, ammo, RE even to a 28 db scan! And more difficult to see by opponent |

I think it would be a montage of the guy huffing and puffing behind a chain of unsuspecting (non-heavies), and being foiled in his attempts, simply because they walked away faster than the heavy could !

Trouble is, YOU may be undetectable, but your drops arent. uplinks, nanohives, are fairly visible to other scouts.
REs, less so. I usually have to visually spot those
