So I just found out that an American football match was played here today. It started at 1:30 and seems to have ended at about 6. Is this sport meant to compete with cricket or something?

That might be possible in baseball. But not American football. Maybe there was inclement weather that made them postpone the game once it started?

yea.. :( They really ****** the quafe suit up. Everyone used to call it the queef suit back then. I always dreamed of wearing one in the war barge but CCP took that away from me.
I have like 83 of them. The odd lot is from FW loot.

Maybe there was inclement weather that made them postpone the game once it started? That wouldn't be unreasonable. I'm also basing this off when news articles were written, it's possible that it just took them a while to write them. (nowhere seems to say when the match actually ended, just that kickoff was at 1:30 and someone won)

Time outs = more time for commercials = more money the last couple minutes of any game seems to last half an hour

In the US, american football games usually last for 4 hours. Overtime can make it longer.

There's more time spent watching commercials than there is watching the game. Much like Baseball.
American sports revolve around slow game development and much drinking. That way, when if you're too drunk to follow along and get distracted, when you turn your attention back to the sport nothing much has changed.

May I have link to it?
Also can someone explain the rational for needing 600 meter range? I didn't even think infantry rendered that far out. 450 seems to be the max from my observations (I cant use a thales so i wouldn't know on the enhanced zoom being a factor or not; my max intel tag and hit register has been at 425.)

gg Judge. But you're full of ****.
Now:
Fracture Road: X is my favorite spot. People rarely look up there. Sometimes I'll drop down to the support beams halfway up the spire, but usually I just sit right up top. I've got height on spot Y, which is the most common spot and I have a shot at the Alpha CRU, Bravo CRU, much of Bravo, the Bravo roof - where people love spamming uplinks, the Alpha supply depot and most of the roof of the Alpha building, Charlie, and the enemy groundspawn/MCC drop area (if I'm starting from the Delta end of the road), especially useful when we have the enemy redlined. In Domination mode, it also is a great perch with a decent look at the Objective. Z is my second favorite spot, with a look at the Delta CRU, Alpha, Bravo CRU and Bravo. Take away the range of the weapon, and any of these perches lose their viability. An effective sniper needs a vantage point that allows them to effect the action at multiple points on the battlefield, not just one objective.
Ashland: Again, W is a favorite spot and very common - yes, it IS in the red zone, but it's only obstructed from view to enemy snipers along the ridge in their own red zone. Any place on the map that I can shoot at has a clear shot at me, and I've died up there plenty of times - even twice since switching to ck.0 Commando to snipe, including once by a Sica's militia railgun. X is another favorite, despite offering absolutely no cover. If you look up, you'll see me. It's not in the red line, anyone can climb up there from the Charlie end of the map. But it offers a look into Bravo that W doesn't offer, as well as a good look at Charlie. Both spots can reach Delta and the Delta CRU, Alpha and Echo (though position X has a much better look at Echo and can even target mercs trying to hack Echo. Look closely for Y - it's smaller, at the top of the central tower, and to a lesser extent out on the yellow crane arm a little way down from the top of the tower. It's got a very good vantage point over everything except Echo, including a nice look at the ridge I mentioned previously. From here, you can hit snipers in either red line... except for what seems to be the most popular spot for Thale's snipers on the blue side of the map. That's where position Z comes in. Up on top of that water drum thing, which has a ladder you can climb, you can see the other side of the hill behind the blue team ground spawn, which is where I've killed ak.0 Sentinels, gk.0 Logis and other heavily tanked suits running the Thale's rifle. After killing the Thale's, I'll typically hang out and take pot shots toward the Bravo CRU and down that whole lane before moving back to one of my preferred spots (W or X, generally). Here, at position Z, I'd still be able to reach the common spot for risk averse Thale's snipers with ~300m, but that's a very niche use. I've had many kills from position X in the 540-580m range. Less than 600m would be crippling, forcing me down to the rooftop of the groundspawn building which, while offering superior cover, offers much less field of effectiveness (i.e., I can't see **** from that roof and if I can't see it, I can't shoot it).
Another note on Ashland: On this map, heavy spam is quite popular. I usually end up with a final tally along the lines of 8/12/1 sniping on this map. More deaths if there's a better sniper than me on the other team. I'm fortunate to say I've never sniped against Appia, Symbioticforks or any of the other names thrown about as "elite snipers". But I do look forward to seeing their name in red on the killfeed with a SR, because I'll immediately hunt them.

First post in the Shop.
Would appreciate some feedback.
I like to run a proto Gal scout with a Duvolle SG (prof 4) and an Ishukone SMG (prof 4). I also like to have a complex damage mod in one of the two highs since the buff. EWAR skills are maxed.
I want to be able to two shot as much Fat with the SG as possible since situations can get dicey for me if it comes to three.
Am I better suited with a complex sidearm dam mod rather than a light?
Sometimes I feel like the modifier would give me more bang for my buck on the SMG which I use quite a bit. That is, until Fat unloads a burst and melts me with 29 armor remaining after my second SG blast.
I've only been playing since March 1 so I don't claim to be Mr. Scout.
Suggestions?

But I do look forward to seeing their name in red on the killfeed with a SR, because I'll immediately hunt them. You listed some really good camp sposts. most being places that take a dropship to reach you. That being one of the biggest reasons I favor shorter range for snipers. The ones that want to sit with very little risk and range on everything. Most in a heavy suit so they can take shots and with no worry move a few m so they are safe. Yet you want to be able to 1 shot kill your targets. A scout should be the best sniper for that reason. you want a 1 shot kill then you should be a 1 hit kill while sitting 200m in the air where nobody can reach you without a dropship. You want to be a slow moving sniper heavy then do in on the ground at 300m out of the redline. less range for sniper will mean more scout snipers as they can get in closer uncloak shot cloak and move. Down with the heavy redline, rooftop camping snipers. in with the scout mobile snipers.

Your entire argument doesn't apply to me. I'm sniping in a ck.0 commando suit. I have shield at level 5, armor at 3, I'm a OHK for any Charge rifle, Thale's rifle, Forge gun (I have no cover on top of those towers, which are only 150m high - not 200m), or tank. I've been shot out of the mid-height beam of those spires by a missile turret on a LAV. I've been OHK'd by Charge and Thale's already. Only once did I fail to find the Thale's and kill them back, and that's because they did it at the very end of the match.
What sniper rifle do you expect to fit while also fitting a cloak and the damage mods necessary to kill anything, even with the Charge or Thale's? A BPO one?
I share the sentiment that sniping should be something for light frames, I've said as much before. I didn't switch to ck.0 until Appia presenting irrefutable math on damage. I still think it's stupid, seeing sentinel suits sniping - I know they aren't about trying to help facilitate and secure a win, but rather about not dying. In a game about immortal space mercs.
The problem is the red line, not the rifle.

If it takes 3 shots from one to drop a Heavy, it'll take 3 shots from both of the others. The biggest difference among the tiers is damage dropoff at range; the prototype variants hit a little harder outside the 5m optimal than the advanced and standard variants.
All that to say, one damage mod may save you a shot against a low-HP merc (i.e. 500HP +/- 50) but it isn't going to make any difference at all when shotgunning uparmored heavies. Since 3 shots will be 3 shots with or without the damage mod, you're likely better off with precision enhancer or shield extender in that high slot.

No one likes being killed with one bullet, makes them feel helpless. Like there was nothing they could do about it. And when people feel like there's nothing they can do about something it feels unfair. Like when there was rage about the shotgun.
Continue. SG Burst HMG ScR PLC Nerf all this stuff - it OHKs me every time. People just gotta grow up. CCP used to be the HTFU corporation. Some stuff is supposed to be that way. It's a bloody sniper rifle, ffs. I'm not lumping you in that category, mind, just answering to the mentality you're pointing out. Oh I know it, and it's a shame. But people plain just don't like it. They just don't find it fun, and I'm sure if you look around the forums there'll be calls to nerf everything you mentioned bar the Plasma Cannon. I am OHK by Plasma Cannon all the time. NERF NERF NERF. I respawn run up behind him and OHK him with shotgunt or NK. NERF NERF NERF both go on and finish the game with sometihng like 20/10
Sniper OHK me from 600m. NERF NERF NERF I respawn sniper in the redline in heavy suit or I respawn sniper on top of tower in heavy suit sniper lives and finishes game 20/0
So yeah sniper wins my vote 100% for a nerf over the other OHK weapons that require being in the battle |

Mate, I've outlined a halfdozen ways to kill a sniper who's deep in the red line. Post #29 of that feedback thread. It's really not that difficult - just takes a little :effort:.

You left out my personal favourite. Ambushing and shooting from behind with an Ion Pistol.
Totally not Spademan.
