Fitting a cloak already severely gimps their fits and expecting them to fit a bunch of damps (if the cloak didn't provide dampening) on top of it is probably a bit overkill. CCP wants the cloak to be difficult to fit on non-scouts, not pointless.
However, yes, the cloak's dampening on top of a scout's low profile might be too good. I was expecting cloak to cause profle to go up not down to balance it out with scanners. I actually thought at first it was and started fitting to account for +25% dampening instead of -25% dampening I think that the cloak is intended to be the "active" counter to the Active Scanner. Where precision enhancement and dampeners are intended to work against each other. This is not the way I originally thought it was going to be, but the more i think about it the more it seems that way.
I always figured they'd seperate visual invisibility from electronic invisibility.
Was kind of hoping for an area profile reduction grenade/equipment too.

I'll pre-order it for sure. C-c-combo breaker!
Just watched Cyrius' video on the Ion Pistol. He was way too quick to dismiss the Charge Shot. And in response to not being able to one-shot adv and up suits, how often exactly does one come across an enemy with full health, especially when flanking? Not much in my experience. The charge shot is usually enough to down these guys.
Not saying it couldn't do with some lovin', but it seems to be glanced over far too easily.

What do you want to see fixed that's feasible given the current state of things? To me, the most pressing issue are tanks. In a situation where teams a fixed in size, it should not take more than 1 person to kill another. In most cases this is fine.
Tanks, and to a lesser extent dropship, completely break this.
My second grievance is this: They should not alter scouts until medium suits get their balance pass.

Adipem Nothi wrote:Alrighty guys, let's Brainstorm.
I know lots of you have made up your minds, but humor me once again. Let's get a our plan together and present it to Rattati.
Problem: The MinScout is too easily scanned.
Many have suggested that nerfing CalScout precision will solve the MinScout problem. Perhaps this is the only way, but we should at least explore other options. Reason being, nerfing CalScout Precision (1) will represent a direct buff to the GalScout and (2) will encourage CalScouts to forgo recon in favor of HP Tank.
Question: What possibilities exist wherein we might aid the MinScout without nerfing CalScout?
A) Swap MinScout High Slot for Low Slot (2/4 vs 3/3) B) Buff NK Damage by 25%; change MinScout racial bonus to +% efficacy of Damps C) Alter MinScout's base Scan Profile statistic D) Change all Scout Bonuses to +% efficacy of Damps E) Change all Scout Bonuses or -% Scan Profile
Your turn ... spitball with me. Let's list all possibilities then widdle them down to what's tenable.
@ Haerr / Mathppia Assuming a CalScout precision nerf is the only tenable option, what would be the optimal CalScout Racial Bonus %? How would that new % translate in terms of GalScout evasion?
PS: o/ Patrick! My preferred options would be D or E (Also, I have no experience with Min Scouts) I also think an improvement to the Minmatar's speed would be helpful, perhaps an increase to the efficiency of Kincats or an increased base speed.

Or one could do the reverse, scans are only shared if it is within your range, so if a squadmate passively detects someone within your radius, the scan is shared, if it's out of your radius, then it isn't. I'd been considering the same on the shared range but not precision. I think that could be really interesting, and also provides some incentive for mediums and heavies to fit precision modules. It also might promote a bit of dampening too.

Therefore I would respectfully ask you to respect others, even when you think they don't belong here. There's nothing wrong, IMHO at least, for anyone to share a constructive viewpoint, be it here, there, or anywhere else.
If y'all jump on me and shred me with your knives for speaking out, I accept that, but I think we can all be good bastards and not have the rest of the community hating on us can't we?
Duncan. I get that, but they came in acting as if they belonged. As if they were here as long as others. Just trying to get rattati's ear, mostly bypassing us. I'm fine if they want to come in and discuss issues with us (it's not unprecedented, we let Cat Merc in. Take that annoying Dust PA lady!!
Knives kind of annoy me. They are more like a glorified melee than anything else. True knifing needs to be something more special.
And I suck with the gun game, but maybe that was lag. I would notice I got off lots of shots, and they other person wouldn't even take damage, until after I was dead.
That was the only reason I ever liked kill cams in CoD, was because I could tell how bad I was lagging with them. Aye, definitely an issue. There's been times why I've poured bullets into people (or them into me) and no damage applied, and the THWACK! All of it comes at once.
One particular time it happened was when I encountered a guy, we were both using rocket launchers, saw each other at the same time, shot. Stopped and looked at each other while we loaded another shot and then we just died weirdly.

Were you guys here when Ratty was talking to us about it? His logic was fairly straight forward. Bonuses need to take into account the slot layout of the suit. I forget what page but he listed the basic principles he was working towards. One of them was that every scout should be able to beat all scans if they fill all their lows with Damps and have a Proto cloak on. With the exception of Gallente who can get away with just all lows being Damps. Caldari and Amarr will be the closest to an Assault suit still as their bonuses apply to the modules it has the least of, thus encouraging it to fill the others with tank, which fits the lore I guess. While I still don't like the idea of anybody having passive precision this seems to be the best we're going to get (I miss the days of Scout v Scout being a blind fight) Not that it matters, I turn on my PS3 about once a month now let alone play Dust. Oh yeah, I'm just commenting on those freedom hating fascists stealing our stuff

You left out my personal favourite. Ambushing and shooting from behind with an Ion Pistol. Have yet to experience. Is it exciting? It really is a rush. Most recently I had a match where I got shot and killed once by a sniper. Well, I wasn't having that. He had a sniping buddy too, so I dedicated that match to hunting both of them. These guys were pretty good, not your typical stay a mile back people, they moved from place to place often and racked up a fair amount of kills. Still though, popped them bought 8 times each. One of the times was an absolutely beautiful grenade throw. Both of them were sniping from a building, so I cooked the grenade for about a second, did the old Jump'n'Throw. Got them both.
Yeah, I find something really rewarding in using the Ion Pistol.
