First post in the Shop.
Would appreciate some feedback.
I like to run a proto Gal scout with a Duvolle SG (prof 4) and an Ishukone SMG (prof 4). I also like to have a complex damage mod in one of the two highs since the buff. EWAR skills are maxed.
I want to be able to two shot as much Fat with the SG as possible since situations can get dicey for me if it comes to three.
Am I better suited with a complex sidearm dam mod rather than a light?
Sometimes I feel like the modifier would give me more bang for my buck on the SMG which I use quite a bit. That is, until Fat unloads a burst and melts me with 29 armor remaining after my second SG blast.
I've only been playing since March 1 so I don't claim to be Mr. Scout.
Suggestions?

If it's infact a nerf can someone send me a link to the post that directly states so, I'm flying blind currently. Its mentioned as part of the Hotfix Echo discussions here. I don't know if the conversation has changed any, but the talk was taking all REs that are currently in game, and giving them a 5 second activation time. Sounds like a nerf to me, even at the standard level which is already at 4 seconds, and especially at proto, which will more than double the activation time. going from 5/4/3 to 5/5/5 because last time I wanted to increase this time all the scouts yelled, "no I need the three seconds to kill tanks", to which I now reply with a packed RE with 3/3/3, high damage and almost no radius. I actually like the idea of an AV RE. The only problem with them is that in order to use any, you have to wait the full activation time to release an additional RE. Tanks have become used to the sound now, plus they show on scans, and it is pretty much a death sentence to even try. I haven't used REs for AV for months, especially now that PLCs and Swarms are much more effective at chasing them away, with much less risk to the user. But what function will regular REs have? My main use of them was to lay traps at objectives, which by and large isn't affected by activation time. Once they became sticky and throw-able, everyone started using them, combining with fluxes being the most viable grenade, and REs showing on active scans caused their effectiveness there has significantly decreased. This has led to them, for me, being more effective for impromptu traps. In which case activation time is everything. I don't even care about throwing distance, which is as much a grenade aspect as activation is, if not more so. I bet if you could only lay REs like you could pre 1.7, you would see many less complaints about "RE grenades." Now I am only even able to use them on 2 objectives at a time given BW and the suits I run, and if activation time is increased, I will personally just stop running them. No sense on spending all the ISK on equipment that is ineffective to me. This is obviously just a personal opinion. Maybe others will still use them enough. If you feel the need to make the change, by all means. Just keep this in mind as you look at your data should you see REs go from being spammed to not worth other mercs' ISK as well.
I have never understood the complaints about RE's. My personal experience is that they have never really been spammed in my time here.
I have died to them as I have to just about everything DUST can throw at a merc, but don't feel they are a problem as they currently stand. Seems I am in the minority.
I run them on a few fits I have. I place them sometimes on objectives. It results in a kill maybe 25% of the time. I always flux objectives for this reason.
I use them for AV which is very rewarding and to curb Sentinel spam.
I don't really have a dog in the fight but if CCP stays true to form they will render RE's not really viable.
It seems to me, personally, that a lot (most) of the changes that have come down or that are coming down seem to favor Sentinels. And they already are very popular.
tl:dr Never thought RE's a problem.

I have been wanting to learn how to use Nova Knives properly for a while, so last week I took them to proto.
I have been running them on my Gal scout. I know this is unorthodox but I believe it can still work.
I am familiar with using a SG and I am a good shot with it so I am used to getting in close etc but knives are a different animal.
There have been several times when I was sure I had a kill but somehow missed. Am I getting too close? Is that even possible?
Results have not been great. I have trouble with moving targets and catching mercs from behind. I am running 2 Kin cats but you can't sprint while charging. I know about the sprint/jump/charge technique but *sigh*
I haven't been clacked up either. Is this bad too? Am I doing it all wrong?
Can anyone point me to resources to help me get better? youtube, a thread, etc or offer any wisdom.?
I am determined to become proficient with cutlery before DUST gets turned off.
Thanks in advance and stay gold.

Pseudogenesis wrote:Arkena Wyrnspire wrote:Pseudogenesis wrote: Honestly I don't think it's worth it to put too many points into the plasma cannon if you're expecting performance out of leveling Operation. Unless something changed when it was buffed, plasma cannons barely scale up in quality from STD to PRO. Level 1 in operation is pretty much enough to get a feel for them.
I judged you for being a filthy poor and now I am judging you for being a terrible cannoneer. I am disappoint. The difference between a standard placon and a fully specced Galmando allotek is vast and glorious. Neither of them can kill a Gunnlogi unless it's bad though. I'm willing to admit to that I don't spend as much time with them as I should. But what I mean about them scaling is that you're pretty much only going to 1 shot a suit if you direct impact it, and since the STD cannon already pretty much 1 shots everything there isn't much incentive to spec higher than that. I specced into PLCs on my alt pre-buff and the splash damage scaling per meta level increase was hilariously low. I will agree that the reload bonus is excellent though.
I put SP into the PLC for the AV.
I agree that the STD version is usually plenty for a direct infantry hit but the proto shines in the AV department. The extra splash damage, which is more common than a direct hit, is also worth it in a gun fight IMO.

Adipem Nothi wrote:UI Improvement Idea!
So the current Warbarge UI is a model of ship floating through space. Why not with each Warbarge Level Upgrade, change the look of that ship a little 'bit. Visually showcase the new subsystem. Add an appropriate sound effect. Bells and whistles.
The ability to customize the look and sound of your "personal warbarge" is coming in 1.1.
For Aurum.

Has anyone ever thought it appropriate to run knives on a "Sever" scout?
sever verb sev-+er \-êse-v+Ör\
: to cut off (something) : to remove or separate (something) by cutting
Every time I get a kill with knives while wearing it I wonder if the perfect symmetry is lost on the victim as they look at the kill screen.

Is the release date for Echo known?
I am about to take my previously untouched "Hand to Hand" skill to 5 in anticipation of leaping tall buildings in a single bound.
I foresee taking my PLC to "new heights" using splash damage with some myo's equipped.
I am curious to see which benefits more: my Gal scout (2H) or MinAss (4H)?

Will jumpy myo's replace your precision enhancers in your highs? Does anyone other than me still use them?
Will you swap all shield extenders and said prec enh for jumpy's? Somethings gotta go especially if stacking.

(will probably have to swap out 1 blue for a shield) I'm sitting on about 130k minmatar LP. I have no interest in the apex, so I use it for the few proto suits I have. Cuts costs considerably !!!! Don't buy weapons in the LP store though.... whoa what a waste.
I have 6 digit LP in Gal and Min (lvl 8 in both) which I use for all my Proto suits.
It's much more economical to combine LP and ISK.
LP accounts for roughly 40% of my economy and as such I can run about anything I want, within reason of course.

One Eyed King wrote:Tonight didn't start off well, but then it got better as time went on. I stuck with it because the matches were close. I think there was some rust to shake off too. After awhile, I had a few legitimately good games. Until Shotty pointed out I was having fun, and then I got redlined and spawn camped I did finally see the lag that was in the Gal Research Lab, but I think it was because of who we were against. I hung out at D for the sake of not wanting 1 F/s, and then a whole squad decided to make their way to D, and the poor framerate followed with them.
Yep, I try to avoid the frame rate drop by not heading down the rat hole.
But sometimes I end up down there for one reason or another and usually regret it.
The lag gets on you like a stink and then follows you wherever else on the map you go.

Does anyone here have a Quafe Gal Scout BPO that they would be interested in selling or trading once BPO trading is available?
I am hoping maybe this Tuesday for CCP to open it up.
I put a thread in the "Player Trading" section but it hasn't gotten any play.
I have a Sever G-1 but it clashes with my Quafe SG. Vanity is a *****!
Maybe one of your Corp mates might have one they would part with?
Thought "The 'Shop" might be a good place to look for one.
Thanks.

As for dusting - the number of times I've timed out at around the 11 minute mark waiting for Scotty is truly catastrophic for this game. If that's the standard experience of a solo player whose only unticked game mode is domination...then (yeah I'm gonna say it, find anywhere else I ever said this) this game is finally in its death throes. On a brighter note - the 5th and 6th games I played this morning were pretty good. [edit] (yeah so that's 4 that were ******* ****) Here's probably my best ever score at DUST: http://youtu.be/5DtgPWu4ei4Still not gonna say min assault is OP though - I still maintain it's the mu talking. PS. Think I got my shotgun aim and timing back, bar a few misfires that killed me. Yep! Wife's out of town 'til Monday :-) Played a 'bit of Red Dead last night; it's a gorgeous game. Switched back to Ghost Recon before calling it a night; really enjoying the campaign so far; haven't tried multiplayer yet. Had a couple great Dust matches this morning. Better "match quality ratio" today than yesterday. Will likely be back on later today. PS: I only have issues finding matches when queuing for FW or during off-peak hours. If you're unable to find a match on your battleserver, I'd recommend switching to Americas. Match quality is perhaps poorer here but match availability is seldom at issue.
Red Dead Redemption is in my top 5 games and was my first online multiplayer experience. A surprise ending to the story that I won't spoil and enjoyable sand box play, beautiful scenery.
It's a great game that you don't hear about much for reasons I never understood. Enjoy!
