the tac-net/scanner changes talked about will be a game changer for scouts. range and precision will be more important because no more shared vision and will increase the use of scanners also making dampeners more important. to me it is the scout update I have been wanting. |

This little discussion has been something of an eye opener for me and I will much more seriously consider speccing up passive scanning and gal scouts proper now... Thank you void. |

Ah yeah, of course, forgot you said you hadn't maxed the skills. Your radar must light up like a Christmas tree!
when i come out of the hills yes it does. my range + shared vision = full radar = get my 229 EHP back out in the hills before i get hit with a stray bullet.

Also look at what we can do over other suits we can jump over a god damn wall. Love all you scouts and ill never switch to a different suit no matter what you can get 32.63m range with 1 proto range mod with lvl 5 range and lvl 5 gallente scout. 30m base? WOW that would allow you to get 298m with 4 complex range. gallente scout Snipers would be loving it except for those lvl 5 scouts with lvl 5 dampening because that will get you below the 31 precision without using any mods that the gallente scout can get max with 1 proto precision. all other classes will need to use no less than 2 dampening mods just to get below the 31 scan profile. don't see them giving up armor and or green/red pill for dampening. dampening and precision works the problem is shared vision and line of sight makes it useless. tac-net/scanner changes will fix this. Well yeah thanks for the info problem is that i have more priority's for my SP but i look in getting enhance. Also does anyone know how the range on the map like the where is 10m and 50m |

range on the map would be nice along with grid numbering/letters. sniper in grid c-5 shield tank in j-9
range on radar is all we got to estimate range on map

Yeah, this is quirky. My active scanner seems to light folks up around walls, but my passive scanning is hit or miss. I'm level 5 Gallente w/a couple three range amplification (80% bonus), and I regularly round corners into the laps of unregistered fatties. |

what is your precision. a fatty with lvl 3 profile dampening and 2 basic profile dampeners will be invisible to you if you have not leveled up your precision.

I have level 3 precision and assaults / tanks etc disappear around corners or small hills even though i just seen them.
And most people arent using dampening mods instead or armor or speed and stamina mods. |

are they showing on your radar outside of the 20m circle? when you have line of sight on something it will show on the radar for a few seconds after they are out of line of sight then fade out if it is out of your scan or precision range.
I know it works well out in the hills when i go on sniper hunts.

I may be one of the most unusual scouts (or even players) around... I know you love your pistols ... what else? I've gotten away from my shotty a bit recently (it's so unreliable). Been testing out Bojo's GB-9 (which is a CQC destroyer) and my scrambler pistols, which I am having a lot of fun with... I'm using my SMG more and more lately too - just got prof lvl 4 and my m209 rules. Shields down with a shot from the pistol, finish the job with a blast from my SMG, which is really the only way to get around the bad hit detection when they start jumping around after the pistol shot. I go adv gal suits with a complex armor repairer and 2 complex sidearm damage mods. That said I also find myself using my AV fit more and more lately too. Same set up but with adv swarms instead of the SMG and light damage mods. I scout out the enemy redlines and hills for all the normal sniper spots and tank camping positions and if I get rid of them all (or find nothing!) I just rinse all the gazillion LAVs I see buzzing around the map below me. I used to always run with 2 hacking mods for the cheeky back door hacks but I'm finding that less useful/rewarding lately and definitely less fun.
Man, I can get the m209 tomorrow, and it's very tempting ... actually like the thought of running that SMG/SP combo. Helps with the CPU/PG use, and they compliment each other nicely...
Can't believe you're running two complex damage mods on a scout suit, though, haha! Something about that ... is sincerely awesome. |

Precision's at level 3, I think (level 2 minimum). Either way, if the fatty's in my vicinity without obstruction, I pick him up on radar. If he's hugging a nearby wall, I often don't. I seriously doubt fatties are stacking profile dampeners; in my experience, they tend to maximize DPS and/or eHP. |

my testing is out in the hills to minimize the shared vision. in the bases and buildings it is to hard to test because of the shared vision and the enemy wont quit moving long enough unlike the snipers sitting in the same spot for an entire match not knowing im behind them spinning in circles at different ranges from them.
Can't rule out that a heavy would use profile dampeners so that is still a possible but I agree very unlikely. I know if i was a heavy i would use 2 complex dampeners since i was so slow and knowing everyone will be able to see me coming on radar. could be the same as a bug that sometimes a player does not register. happens a lot to me as a sniper at all ranges where i can target someone and get no tag or anything but a orange dot which is what led me to believe dampeners worked against line of sight.
I will try testing this more in buildings at my 56m range. want to test out cala's SMG anyway. the 20m or less range is just useless for all players not just scouts. |

My personal experience is I die to Assault Rifles the most. The most annoying ones though are the Mass Drivers since the Flaylocks took the dive(I actually have not see a single one since the Nerf). Those things just about one hit kill me if the user is skilled up at all in the tree. Similarly Snipers are annoying, but easy to deal with if I can locate where they are perched at. |

It's purely the dual sidearm usage that allows me to run 2 complex damage mods on an adv scout suit but I'm considering dropping one in favour of a complex ferroscale plate when they get buffed in 1.4. Maybe...
My current priority will be the scanning range skill after this recent chat with voidification and maybe profile dampening so I can sneak up on him while he's sniping |
