PARKOUR PRACTIONER wrote:I hate those things neck brace things especially when they put in on tight. I couldn't say that many words cause i guess i was stunned or in shock from hitting my head. Since no one had the patience to listen to me i said fukit and took the brace off and threw it.
Then a nurse came & mom & put it back on tight and tried to put on IV in my hand, which usually never hurts but it did so i did my best to take it out. When i couldn't use my other hand to take it out, i tried to bite the nurse, she was mean anyway, probably cause i was freaking out, so it took my mom & nurse to stop me from trying to rip the IV out and take off the neck brace.
Mom calmed me down after a while. Mom helped out cause she didn't want them to restrain me. Skip ahead to after MRI & stuff, the same ***hole doctor i had last time walks in, cause he happens to be the guy that can read the MRI.

Also, being happy about your mom filling a complaint on a dude that only tried to do his work is a seriously d1ck move. You should be ashamed of acting like that, not come here and gloat about it.. |

Every time. When you're coding as a team, and your company not only pays for the creation, but the upkeep, it comes down a lot more to *where* you write it and how maintainable you make it, rather than the language. Anyone can learn syntax - writing maintainable code is where the art is. And yes seriously it *is* an art - not engineering. ^ So much this.
Developed a dozen or so Windows desktop applications back in the day. Small potatoes, but sufficient to keep my local clients coming back for more. Even had a few thousand online customers. Back then, Windows XP had been around forever, and I tested my applications extensively in that environment. Had to, or someone somewhere would send in a support email. Which happened all the time, despite my extensive testing. With every ticket resolved, I learned something new and my applications got a little more resilient. Was a pretty neat experience.
Then Vista happened. Now I need a machine running Vista for testing. MSDN says "Don't worry! All your XP apps will work just fine on Vista. You don't have to do a thing." But it'd been my experience that MSDN says alot of things. And to be fair to MSDN, there were alot of things I didn't know (and didn't know to look for) as I'd taught myself .NET. So I needed to test and confirm, which meant buying another machine with god-awful Vista. Turns out my apps did work, but the new OS rendered user-interface components differently than they were rendered in XP. For instance, my "OK" and "Cancel" button placement (in dozens of forms) was perfectly intuitive in XP, but in Vista the "Cancel" button was touching the edge of the form. Unacceptable. Same placement issus with Progress Bars. Le sigh.
Then. 64-bit architecture got popular. MSDN says "do this" to support deployment in a 64 bit environment, Turned out that making 32-bit applications compatible with 64-bit machines wasn't too hard, though MSDN didn't cover everything! It was glad that I bought yet another machine to test my apps in a 64-bit environment.
Then Windows 7 happened. Rinse, Repeat, got a new machine. Then Windows 8 happened. That's when I said, FU Microsoft, no more.. Operating Systems are not Call of Duty titles.
And now? Windows 10 is happening.

This displeases me immensely.
I don't like getting used to an operating system and then suddenly having half of it change. I don't understand why it's necessary, either.

You meet a soon-to-be client who runs a family-owned manufacturing business. 50 of his employees are manually tracking their time worked on 10 or so different projects per day. 2 data-entry clerks spend half the next day keying that data into a spreadsheet. A bookkeeper spends half of her day entering employee time in accounting software. Production Manager keeps track on project profitability as best he can from job cost reports in the accounting software. He knows that nothing he's looking at is right, because he knows his floor personnel aren't logging data accurately to begin with.
You know there has to be a better way.
You spec out biometric timeclocks. You run install a dozen of them throughout the plant and facility. You run the CAT5 yourself. You train personnel on how to use the gadgets, they range in age from fresh-out-of-prison to near-retirement. You inspect what you expect until you are satisfied. The employees actually seem to like using the damn things.
Next, you code an application that polls and formats the timeclock data. You write another application that automatically imports data straight into the client's accounting software. You write another application that invokes the first two applications at 2AM every morning. You've eliminated the jobs of 2 data-entry clerks (saving the company $35 and hour) and no more evil eye from the bookkeeper, who now better understands why your fees are what they are.
Last but not least, you whip together a final app which visualizes on demand job cost & profitability data for the Production Manager and President.
Everyone's happy. You are a f***ing hero and you are worth every penny you billed. Then the President asks you, "what happens when we update to the next Operating System?"
You know there has to be a better way. |

yikes. Well, you guys know.. that's what you get with MSFT. I got utterly sick of them in the early 00s. I was completely done with them even in a business sense by 09. But now I am going back in with windows 10. I haven't used win since XP SP2.. mayhap SP3... cannae recall.
I do hear that win 10 is supposed to be decent? I am going to be loading up zbrush and maya on it.. along with star citizen and perhaps arma 3. Ark was awesome but I could only get bout 20 FPS on my macbook pro lol. DX12 is supposed to be a huge leap as well? I mean as devs adopt it (Ark for example.. KSP soon as well I hear).
Btu back to coding in a group.. I hear you guys. **** is not easy. Especially if you move from one dev to another.. and to top it off a french developer to a couple guys out of Indiana. Then **** gets really weird and you end up redoing work basically. But hey- **** gets done one way or another in my experience. Toss in a product that has connections to at least 5 different network data feeds that all depend on each other that also change and evolve requiring you to go back and change code.. lol. Anyone speak french!? And not just any French, but some weird programming shorthand version of it. |

I've been hurt a lot. From flying off motorcycles to uncontrollable dental bleeding.. I've been in a lot or ERs. So I have also had a lot of experience with nurses. Almost always I am generally quite patient and polite and have had great experiences. The time a nurse held me as blood poured out of my mouth into a bucket.. and we both started laughing.. for a scary time it was great to have that.
But! There are assholes out there.. so hard to say. One time I was opening a new chef knife and used my pocket knife to cut the zip ties on the packaging. welp.. sliced the tip of my right index finger clean off. there was just a red hole and you could see the tip of the bone. yep.. minjas can even fall to their own knives, kids. So I get to the ER after unsuccessfully trying to find the tip. To this day, I do not know where it went. lol. So you know it grew back. It's pretty cool actually.
But the nurse was this dickhead. In my panic I used a paper towel to stem the bleeding, which fused to my finger hole. What does DH nurse do? Rips the paper towel off and now I have got to tell you- that was some excruciating pain. And then he snapped at me because I now had a fountain of blood pouring out of my gore holed finger and he had to clean it up. I can't recall ever being that pissed off in a hospital before. It ended with the nurse telling me I didn't need pain meds as I was being discharged, so I looked him right int he face and told him I was done with him and to get the doctor. He came back with pain meds and not a word.
TL;DR: If a nurse sucks, tell them to bring the doc. If the doc sucks, tell them to bring a different one. no sense getting worked up.

I'll be getting into C++ eventually, I'm just not super stoked about that syntax. That is actually why I wanted to learn C. Because if I can learn that, learning the other languages will be much more simple. Its not easy though. That is for sure. Definitely not easy. I would just go for C++ if I were you, afaik C isn't used for much anymore. C++ is pretty much the lingua franca of programming languages.
