I want my Cloaking device to be 100% the same as my cloaking device in EVE.
Cloaking Device: Completely invisible, always. Pretty good CPU/PG cost. Cannot target people or shoot while cloaked. delay between decloaking and capacity to fire. pg:1 CPU: 30. Speed reduction of 90%. targeting readjustment 30sec, reactivation: 30sec
ADV Cloaking Device: 60CPU. Targeting readjustment 20 seconds. Reactivation: 30 seconds. 75% speed reduction
PRO Cloaking device: 100CPU. Targeting readjustment 10s. reactivation: 30s. Also, Scout only. 0 speed reduction
Oh and the skill bonus. reduces targeting delay by 10% per level. And Scout Suits would get a 20% or 50% reduction in CPU

*nonono, that speed reduction was because it was the Armor favoring Scout ** true but lol most of the time I never pull out my sidearm when I have the shotgun. It is either the Light weapon OR the Sidearm. Because that time it takes to change weapons (which is faster than in some parts of Uprising) is too slow and usually kills me.

The gal Scout has the low slots to be the best dampened scout and thus the best cloaking unit under this model, also the gal scout would be the best for non scout cloak detection due to its radius catching all those medium wannabes who aren't moving. So you got your gal scout cloaking shot gunner who can ruin medium frames day and a good support unit for being able to counter non scout cloaked units, which would be a role that pc players would find valuable.
It would also mean that the cal scout would be the best anti scout for spotting cloaked scouts, due to what should be a precision bonus and high slots, but more is still definitely needed for this scout though.
The Min scout should be designed around explosives particularly grenades, we can still slap on the knife bonus for nostalgia purposes, but the advantage of explosives is that you can get kills from non direct means which should serve the min once its speed picks up. Something like carries more grenades and tosses two grenades at a time, thus making it a very 1 vs many group smashing and effective AVer. Another innate trait could be explosion upon death.
The Amarr Scout is more of a mystery, because the amarr ways do not mesh well with the scout, so perhaps give this one an extra equipment slot over the other scouts and have it be the scout logi hybrid.
Let me know if this is acceptable and then we can come up with equipment ideas that would favor the scout more (I have a few already), we could then start working on slot layouts.

You havent played around with other suits enough.
I played around with a 'stealth' Caldari C-1 suit in ambush the other day. i dropped two stealth modules on it, so it beat ADV scanners. I then threw 2x ADV shields on it.
I think I did better with it, than my ADV scout suit.
That's with merely a BASIC suit. an ADV, or dare it say it, proto stealth assault suit... Yikes.
I'm glad I'm posting about it in HERE, where it will hopefully get lost to non-scouts.

Figured I'd play extra sneaky.
Flanked hostiles. Snuck up behind Call-Me Lipton. Emptied entire clip of M209 into back of his head while moving into Shotgun range. I'm dead before firing second shotgun blast. His Duvolle AR and ridiculous HP were too much for me to assassinate.
Flanked hostiles again. Snuck up behind Kaizuka Sniper. Changed tactics. Cooked Core Locus. Hit him nice and perfect. Moved in with Shotgun as he spun around trying to find me. He spots me as I close in and fire first blast ... he jumps backwards. I'm dead to Duvolle AR fire before he hits the ground. His Duvolle AR and ridiculous HP were too much for me to assassinate.
Sometimes I hate this game.
A Scout does everything right, just to be boned by an increasingly easier EZ Mode. I shouldn't have to armor tank my Scout to drop something I sneak up behind. The fact that we currently have to is utter bullkittens. The fact that I lost these two fights -- even after defiling my fit -- is disgusting.

Nyain San are hard to even isolate so good on you for that. I have had to pull all sorts of bait tricks to pull that off. Honestly i can only kill them with knives and remotes. Gunfire bounces of the tanking and the teamwork is exceptional. That being said, if you drop one, three come to pick up the suit, two cover parameters while one picks up and reps. This is where I started dropping REs on downed protosGǪ try to make it cost them, knowing they probably have more isk than it really matters but meh. Once I ended up on a team with eight of themGǪ. they even help the randoms. Pick up, rep, hell they formed a shield wall around my scout body just to pick my 20k ass up. As to the issue of how to deal with the high dps impenetrable death squad idk, like i say remotes and knives have worked for me, but if you don't knock em down you are dead. No blinking, no second thought. |

I agree that the equipment slot is a likely path for CCP to take. Another possibility down similar to this path is that rather than equipment the cloak takes up a weapon slot (which is more or less what happens in EVE). The if it is an active device you simply need to "Fire" it as you would your weapon and we still get our equipment slot as normal. Now in order to prevent every suit from running one it would need to take a Light weapon slot, not Sidearm. Assaults and Heavies could use but it is very unlikely many players would. Logis could certainly use it but they lose all weapons to do so. Scouts are quite capable killers with Sidearms only. The downside of course is you can't run a shotgun with a cloak, but it is a balance trade off.

That option has been discussed and is my favorite simple solution, because you can then have scouts with one light weapon slot and two sidearm slots, and a two light weapon slot light frame/scout that would be interesting, it would also help commandos who should also have better stealth for what they give up.
Barring that I think the immobility penalty for non scout suits would work assuming CCP is going with the equipment option, though planning this would be a lot easier if we just knew what CCP was doing so we can work with it.
It might not be a bad idea to have start a new thread specifically about cloaks as equipment vs light weapon slot, as it would allow us to escape our scout bro echo chambers we have here, I might even do that now and see how much I get thrashed or ignored on the boards.

So if there are enhaced servos to make you go faster, shouldn't the scout run faster than I can. because at 7.66m/s with a stamina of 210 lets me run for 21 seconds, I can go further than that in real life. And I even have to accelerate which you don't in this game.

Gallente Logi for me. I want that Amarr Assault so much. That'll be the next thing I get. But the logi is more my style, replacing my sidearm with REs, and keep on sniping with an indomitable 800 armor.
lol without another SP even that means I'm 8 weeks from a proto Amarr Assault. Hopefully I won't need to increase my Electronics to 5 of Engineering to 4&5 :p

Once I get damage mods wrapped up, pistols to L5 operation (at L4), and remotes to L5 (L2).... There won't be a whole lot of stuff left which is appealing aside from that Minmatar medium frame suit....

I'm good with cloaking being either EQ or an active module in the light weapon slot.
I would prefer that scouts (and all suits) retain their current weapon slot configuration, as opposed to giving scouts 1L and 2S weapons in order to use the cloak in the light weapon slot. I think that would be pretty nice to have 3 weapons, but seems like it would be a bit much, especially if scouts were to be the only class with the ability to walk with the cloak active.
I mean, mobility with invisibility, coupled with the fact that most suits will not be able to detect you due to the superior scout dampening is already a very big scout-only benefit.
I mean, let's face it - a stationary cloaked medium or heavy frame (without a light weapon!) is a scout plaything / chewtoy. We could sneak up and execute all kinds of these fools.... they'd be making it easy unless they were running dampeners....
