^ Hang in there dude, I'm sure that one day you will be rippin' it up with the best of them.
Have you tried remote explosives?? You only need 1 level and the 3 you carry around with you can do massive damage (1500hp) each. It's a great way to create havok, if you haven't tried it.
Hope the next round of games are better! |

I'm in a similar boat on one of my alts. I would suggest that, unfortunatley, you made a big mistake in putting that much in a weapon, before survivability. Plus, the whole ideal of "making a stand" is off. You shouldnt be standing, you should be running ! You're a scout! :D
Instead of that last 300k(?) in SMG, you should have put it in armor. At least level 1. If you insist on going on non-ninja confrontations, then having a bunch more armor, will probably help you die only half as much ;-)
If you have logi support, you can go double full armor modules. armor level 3 would make that 220 extra HP otherwise, you "only" get 170 extra.
If you dont have logi support, make it 1 armor plate, 1 reactive. At armor level 1, that gives you 110 extra HP plus 1 point of repair.

Thank you for the observations, support, and tips. You may not be getting what I am trying to convey. I know all what you have pointed out. I know I have should of dumped it in shields and armor. I know this. I know I should run and strafe. I know this. I also know my prior SMG (militia), as it was, just a pellet gun to whom I am against. Sure, I can kill with ease with my sniper rifle, but if I am being seeked and pounced on, I have nothing to defend myself with. Sure, uping my shields, armor, may give me a little more flee time, but, not really. any AR handling merc can willy nilly shoot threw a band aid paper towel 100m away. Scouts, we die alot. This is known. If I have to make a stand, at least I want something to make a stand with while I save up sp for shields, armor, knives, explosives, hacking, oh the list goes on and on.

SMG isnt really *good*, until you dump huuuge amounts of SP into it. In contrast, if YOU are good, then with a relatively small amount of SP investment, scrambler pistols rule.
Two words:
Headshot. Bonus.
Even a militia pistol can take out almost any non-heavy frame, if you can land two headshots.
Specing into scrambler P level 2, gets you a pistol that makes it much much easier to actually get headshots, due to increased rate of fire. You could have gotten that for a mere 30k of SP.
Or if you're the super-accurate kind of fighter, a burst pistol, which fires 3 shots in rapid succession. Some people deal with that better.

When you say shield and armor, are you talking about the skills? If so, put your SP into other things for the moment. They are helpful but not essential (we have too low of eHP for the percentage bonus to warrant SP that is more useful in other areas). If you are wanting to use SMGs, they only really shine after getting SMG Ops to 3 and Sharpshooter to 3.
As for the ARs, yeah, we all know what it's like to be on the receiving end.
The best method methods I've found for dealing with them is to learn areas where the meds roam and avoid them or approach from an unusual angle. If you are noticed while in SMG range, quickly strafe back and forth but don't get locked into a pattern. Most AR users can't seem to handle me when I quickly switch strafe (even with AA). If you are noticed outside SMG range, run around a corner and wait for them. As soon as they pop around the corner, jump forward and away from the wall. Blast them while in mid-air then start strafing after landing. Most meds seem to expect scouts without shotguns or nova knives to just flee after being seen and usually react poorly against a scout flying into their face.
If you are scanned, leave. A scout that the enemy knows the location of is a dead scout.
And finally, duvolles will cut you down no matter what. To be fair, they cut everything down at the moment. Once you know who is using them, fight them using indirect means of confrontation, such as cooking grenades or REs.

having ONE point in armor, is nice to unlock the reactive plate, that gives you (a bit of armor) plus 1hp regen, for no movement speed penalty

Funny thing... if you are close (2m?), get closer, and if all else fails, melee them. Get literally in their face. This guy i was up against today, couldnt hit me.
I'm not entirely sure if it is the game mechanics being truly realistic, or just that he was too freaked out, but while I was closer than the muzzle of his rifle, he didnt hit me once.
Then we ran around in a 2m circle, and I slowly pistol-plinked him to death :D

Yes, getting access to armor plates and reactives (at least the standard tier) is really useful but that is like 30k SP? Easy enough.

1. Varies in my observation. Even the slightest lag, and we become a magical bullet magnets. 2. Another tactic is to jump at them once in range. The leap often breaks Aim-Assist lock-on. 3. Absolutely. 4. Can't beat it up-close with a Shotgun. Hit 'em with a cooked nade then finish off at range. |

What we need to do is to get CCP to allow us to list squads on the squad finder that are only visible to people in a certain chat channel. Then if we name our squads appropriately, we never have to worry about entering a non-scout squad when that is what you are looking for. |

My alt has 4 million sp an all my points are in passive skills, I already have CPU an pg at 4, side arm an light weapons 4 , biotics 4, all sensor skills 3. I got nova knives to 3, sg to 1 since its better than the militia an damage mods an cardiac to 1 so it uses less CPU pg than militia. An most importantly I got grenades 3 an remotes 1 an shield an armors to 3. Now I can finish shield an armor, still run a dragon fly an fit a lot on it an kill with remotes. Eventually I ll get smg to pro 3 for the damage on my toxin, an the suit cost under 10k
So by the Time the new scouts come hes ready

This account is Gal, but I run a Min at the same sp level as you (actually a little less) and here is the secret to having no passive scan. Objectives, CRUs, Supply DepotsGǪ they give you a huge scan radius that is infallible. With the added mobility of the Min you can watch a huge area through these points, just by keeping in motion. Min in urban warfare is beastly because of this and the speed. I know we can't tank viably, but in urban settings we can out manoeuvre, out wit, and cause enough destruction to make the cost of taking these areas not worth it to the enemy.

Good hunting today. Got to play back-to-back games on my favorite scouting map (new map with 5 nodes, C and E closest to the starting point of each side) and faithfully defended C for both battles. Finished probably in the neighborhood of 15-2. Best moment was playing a game of cat and mouse with a Red on the floor below me (I was at the doorway at the top of the steps, in front of the supply depot) and he knew where I was...and knew that I knew that he knew. He danced around between the C node and the doorway leading to the CRU but never ventured into sight.
"Patience," I told myself.
So I danced along with him, following his movements, waiting for one opening. Then I saw another red dot show up on my radar. I watched the arrow come through the doorway on the roadside and into the hallway and noticed the walls light up at the foot of the stairs--a heavy packing a forge gun! I waited just long enough for the heavy to see me before ducking out of sight behind the wall and rounding the corner.
Sure enough, the heavy charged up the stairs and made it about two steps onto the upper floor before I detonated the RE that I always place beside the doorway for just such an occasion. Kill +50. Perhaps finally accepting his fate, the original Red made his move. Kill +50.
All told, C was hacked one time (where I promptly killed the hacker and re-hacked it after being killed initially) and the supply depot was hacked for a moment by a spawning enemy while I took back C. He didn't even have time to savor his handiwork before I gunned him in the back and re-took what was rightfully mine.
Since I haven't had the chance to use the Thale's that I've finally unlocked, I'd have to say playing as the Death-in-the-Shadows scout role is my absolute favorite (assuming that enemies actually try and capture the installations nearby!)
Life is killing me.

I'm feeling a little anti-ninjaly tonight. I'm playing with ambush fits. Actually using ADV to see what lolz I can come up with.
and apparently, with shield 3, armor 3, I can come up with 143/370 = 513 hp.
But it should still evade ADV scanners.
Equipped with mass driver and TT3 pistol. but NO SCANNER.. 'cause I cant fit the cpu requires. Not even a base flux scanner, Unless I basicaly threw away my sidearm.
Wait, I can use up the SP i was saving for range 4, to go to dropsuit electronics 2!! So now I can fit... an assault scrambler pistol
Lets hear it for the ninja assault suit?
Eh, why not. Now to try it out
