So more of a pub fun fit. Only had time for two quick matches and they were not on the best maps for NK's. As often happens with NK's my KDR took a bit of a hit. Initial Impressions:
- Like the speed I got with two kincats (slightly faster then my gal scout fitting); however, the big diff is I really notice the stamina recovery versus the gal scout.
- Didn't really notice the diff of not having a complex dampener on (gal scout has one) but that could have been who i was fighting. I did get scanned once which was annoying.
- I've heard everyone ***** about PG issues, but WTF it's worse then I thought if you want to have KC's on it and you're running an advanced dropsuit with proto NK's. Fitting it was really hard.
- Debating only having one KC and putting a Complex dampener on to free up some PG. But i like the speed with a NK fit. (despite it getting me killed more often then not)
If I remember back to my impressions picking up Minja again after running cal/gal scout pre-1.8 - yeah the stamina thing is the most noticeable I would say. Of course the NK damage too - you won't often OHK a heavy - I think even a basic heavy can easily run over 1150 HP (charged NKs, both swipes hit). But most other suits are going down. I run advanced mostly too - I have three fits, one has 2x KC, one has KC + PD, one has KC + Ferros. Yeah I can't get enough of the speed either - 2x KC is my favourite as long as not getting scanned too often.
Yeah, the stamina recovery diff and PG issue seems to be the main differences for sure. I guess it made me finally take off that damn cloak though, no way i was going to be able to fit it. I hate the cloak in it's current form yet still have it on tons of fits (who knows why).
Edit: I think i have the cloak because once in a while it's useful (climbing ladders, crossing big open spaces, getting me killed when i have it out yet am not cloaked but for some reason can't change back to a weapon). That and for the life of me I can't figure out what to replace it with. Put an advanced active scanner on one fitting but never really liked them.

I hate that Min Assault is FOTM, that suit is going to get a whack eventually & unfortunately. Fun suit though especially with a Complex Damp & RE's
I think every Logi that has a Gal Logi knows that they are a very powerful asset & I rarely use mine as I feel a little dirty afterwards . My biggest concern with this suit atm is its use in a very good team, they can pretty much permascan everything. So even older & newer players struggle against that. I was requested to use it in a PC because of the number of scouts etc etc & as long as I could stay alive we pretty much shut down that game, the only balance if any is my proto gal perma scan suit costs 220k isk. Still is dirty though just my opinion.

I know, but you can't really fit a proto scanner on an advanced scout well. Plus the ISK diff.
Nanite Injectors are useless now, I have them on some fits but no one ever asks for a needle.
Drop Uplinks, I run, despite the fitting costs. No sense having two though.
Remote Explosives, I have always sucked with, plus with bandwidth and me running Drop Uplinks doesn't make sense to use with an advanced suit.
Repair Tool, not so great on a low HP suit (draws too much fire).
Active Scanners, meh, as I said before if not proto.
Nanohives, bandwidth issues with Drop Uplinks.

Did that map get taken out of circulation?
It was a horrible map, and I am happy its gone. Was that announced somewhere that I missed or was this a stealth change? It's still there. Though, it's kinda unremarkable since they flattened the Peak. I started thinking after I played that new 3 pt (objective) map how much I hate 3 pt maps, then I tried to think of the last time I played Manus, and couldn't.
While I took a big break for the most part, I played a lot last week and never saw it once. Not Dom or Skirm.
@ Murt.
Some interesting notes that were left out were that we have had 3 actual patches (vs thinking we never were going to get any again) and as of Feb 3 are playing Warlords 1.0 Not Chromosome 1.X.
@ Active Dampeners I don't know how to feel about these. On the one hand, I hate the cloak, and this will now give me something to run on my dampening fits to beat those scans so I don't have to fit the fuxing clack. On the other, a big reason I still used it was for its dampening, and this all but spells doom for its viability.
I may, depending on fitting costs, run and Adv Cloak and Active Damp for my hacking suit, but I will certainly be taking the cloak off my max dampened fit if the decrease is significant enough.
Here is the question though... Will the active damp have the same delays of the cloak?

I'm thinking this will be a "combat cloak" geared more toward assault-styled play. No delays on activation/deactivation; short effect duration; moderate cooldown. As there's no change in visibility, you'll be able to "click it on" then kill for a 'bit with a lessened profile. Thi will give dampened Assaults the ability to briefly duck GA Logi scans and pull off a flank attack.

This will give dampened Assaults the ability to briefly duck GA Logi scans to pull off a flank attack or push into CQC range. So allowing Assaults to further infringe on our roles? That I don't care for. Maybe if we didn't already have our EWAR changes, but considering how close they are already to outscouting us, I don't like where this may lead.

I like everything you said except the bit about assaults. If we have to have a dumb role bonus as a scout I want it to apply to the new dampening cloak. Let the others fit it at much higher cost.
Maybe better yet, reduce cloak fittings and let others see how useless they can be currently. Then they can give us a useful role bonus!

All wild speculation. If this is how it's going to play out, though, I hope his hitpoint/movement tradeoff model is put into place in advance of it. That'd keep us safe from role infringement.

As far as roles- I kind of wish they had dev'd it so that people were more interested in being a race vs a role. each race should have overlap- not each role. It would incentivize roleplaying because FOTMs would be owned by every race until it was balanced. 2-3 flavors of scout/assault/etc per race, with only a single small bonus at most for disparity sake based on some sort of specialization.
As it is now, and shall forever be, with this system there will always be a FOTM resulting in this merry go round of balancing that takes away work/effort from where it could go.

Usage rates are trending more and more toward uniformity. Click on Dropsuits
If we could somehow split the difference between Assaults and Commandos, we'd have a pretty tight cluster of datapoints right now. Far tighter than its ever been. Yes, there is some working in circles, but nerf/buff cycles have taken on a different quality as with each tuning we've come closer to normalized usage rates (rather than further away).
