Dropsuit BPOs really should be skins that you can apply to any tier of that type of suit, not STD level free suits IMO. I'd pay money to purchase one of those Brutor skins if it was permanent and I could apply it to an unlimited amount of my suits. I hate spending money on stuff that I can lose to some BS accident like the way the current AUR suits work.

This may be closer than you think, born out of performance discussions as these BPO's are using up memory. There are interesting things happening.

Adipem Nothi wrote:Bayeth Mal wrote:The Market Agent and extra ISK from loyaltyrank all need to be tossed out on their ass. Because they're harming our chances of a economic meta game. The possibility for an economic meta game (of sorts ) was more likely lost when PC 1.0 flooded the market with billions and billions of Isk without mechanism for reclamation. Oh don't worry, I remember those times well. The great PC lock down was when I was the most active in Dust. I watched whole game modes go from good battles to entire stacked teams burning 10s of millions of ISK for hours and hours. (ambush became a no-go zone)
I was on these forums begging CCP to shut the god damn system down. Freeze it. Pull the plug.
But they didn't. And we're dealing with the ramifications a year later. And I honestly think it'll still be ruining our market years from now.
After FF I vowed to run proto and not give a ****. I don't run with a stacked squad in a blob and I'm not particularly hard to kill in a few hundred hp scout suit.
At FF I had ~130million ISK (all of it from pubs, no PC wins for me, PC has always been a net loss) Since then I've lost 20 mil...
And that's running proto like an idiot. If I got organised about it in a stomp squad then I'd be turning a profit.
If I can't even lose my ISK when actively trying to over the course of a year. Then these guys simply are not going to run out for over a DECADE. Some are sitting on over a Billion.
But nobody can say CCP wern't told.
Could you imagine this **** taking place in EVE?
I just don't see any real solution. The market has been screwed. Historically the solution has been to change currencies. Even if we have officer gear become purchasable and increase in price with demand. These guys would just stomp even harder with gear so expensive most players would only dream of being able to buy.
Sure they might run out of isk faster but that just means it'll take 3 years rather than 10. And that's going to be a very painful 3 years. We don't have 3 years left.
We'll bang, OK?

Last I'd looked I had 600k+ to go.
So yeah... Fix that, I know a lot of others are suffering the same issue. Will hold off playing until fixed.

I would point out that this affects non-boosting players as well. As a PR tip, maybe point out that actually you have a comprehensive set of fixes for plenty of non-AUR based issues as well? Otherwise it's depressingly easy for bittervets like me to prey on your posts.

So, I am jumping the gun a little, it's theoretically working but the idea is to create skin modules, that dynamically alter the skins, much like damage modifiers, treating colors like actual attributes. Currently, the dropsuits just reference a material instance that tells it what it should look like.
That means every dropsuit is unique, not a copy of a parent, which means when 32 dropsuits are fighting, there may be 32 unique dropsuits on the field, taking up memory.
The idea is to replace all colored variants with skin modules that look the same. That will allow us to "remove" dropsuit types from player inventories, and refund with modules and normal bpo's of the same type. No loss of utility or worth.
Thereby improving memory, decreasing clutter in dropsuit fittings, and allowing players to use the skin module on adv and proto suits as well.
I am just so excited about this, that I had to share with others than CPM. No promises though!

On that note you yourself have a great deal of respect from the community with what you have achieved over the last year. Maybe burying your head in the sand & saying you are not listening is not the best thing to say despite what is being said. Not jumping the gun at all. This is excellent.
I have questions.
1. Will a similar thing be extended to weapons? For example, will it be possible to skin a laser rifle in Templar if you have the relevant item? 2. What happens to those BPO items? Do you get a base 'Assault C-1 BPO' and then a 'Raven' skin BPO, for example, if you convert a Raven Calassault? 3. What kind of performance savings are likely to come out of this? 4. Will Quafe suits go back to being properly pink? 5. How do consumable skinned market items work? For example, the Raider scout has a special skin. If you buy it, you receive a skinned dropsuit. Do you receive a bundle of the dropsuit and a consumable skin item upon purchasing the item, or will it be a case of needing to buy a neo variant and then the consumable skin separately?
6. This probably won't fit in with the performance optimisations, but is there any possibility that cosmetics can be taken further? For instance, there are old helmet models that aren't currently used. I don't have a link to the pics atm (I can get some later if you want) but there were alternative helmet designs for various dropsuits, and I feel buying alternative helmets would be a worthwhile cosmetic venture.
