A couple of points on my reasons:
1. It's an FPS. I don't care for those opinions that say a scout is for scouting which means recon. Personally I think that's BS and none of us would be here if that was what they were for. However they should only be good for CQC (and I mean <10m) and assassinations (using stealth to stab with high alpha weapons)

2. scouts are designed to be mobile and quick. Some also have hack bonuses. Only one game mode doesn't require hacking to win the game, two do, and those are the ones I play 99% of the time. Solo hacking a point away from a main fight can make the difference between winning and losing

3. Not that I do it much, but scouts with natural speed and EWAR can defend a null cannon effectively due to being hard to detect, and typically favouring high alpha weapons.

4. Pushing objectives isn't really something a scout can do - they are better off skulking round the flanks, perhaps as a decoy or bait. They don't have enough HP to push with a blob. I added this to the list.

5. I used to use REs but haven't skilled into those at the moment, mainly coz I can't fit them. I don't use a cloak either. Others here will likely place this higher up the list.

6. Anyone can AV, other roles can do it better. Scout may have a slight advantage due to speed but generally I don't think they should care about AV any more than the next non-AV-specialised class. Though if you throw (scuse the pun) the REs (especially the new REs) into the mix, this could get bumped higher. But that is equipment anyway.

Don't like being put in a group i do not fit in. You want my isk? I guess I should not be here because I hate CqC and never went scout for it. So it is some of us would not be here not NONE of us. Don't group me with the NK or CqC scout as scout is all I have played since open beta and I am all about range. I would NOT be playing this game at all if scout was a CqC class. Don't get a scout Apex suit because you have no use for any of the apex suits as the closest one set for only 10m range is the gal scout with shotgun / ion pistol the other 3 all have the best RANGED rifles in the game and are complete useless on the scout because as you put it are only for 10m CqC. Just becasue some people have played to many rpg as a rogue they think a scout is a CqC class. They must of never played the hunter or marksman scout in those games and must not realize scout does not mean rogue. If you can't kill them scan them. Meta 13 Proto Stomp G-I Scout

They want you dead, so you kill them first and repeatably. Until the realize they don't really want it that bad or the victory screen appears. XD If we need to attack a null cannon to win there comes the uplinks toward it again. Then the re's to help push the other team out of it. If I am alone and think I can take the objective alone and that'll help the win then so be it. I'd personally rather watch the person hacking than be the hacker (trust issues). Same thing pretty much for defending an objective that is needed. Uplinks towards it or close to it then re's to help defend it. When attacking or defending the threat is still there as long as the equipment is there. It should be removed. Whether the team is attacking something or defending it. Sneaking around and destroying the enemy teams means of 2nd and 3rd waves is needed. AV = depends on whether it is more beneficial to the team for me to be shotgunning the reds trying to take the objective or if we are pinned down a bit and need that tank/ads gone. OR if they freaking kill me when I'm trying move to another location. That vehicle may/probably will be moved up on the what I need to do list. My bad for the (whethers and ifs) XD tldr: uplink support, attacking, securing (hacking, destroying enemy equipment), defending, av help when/where needed, killing is the constant. edit: to each their own though. that is how I play the class and have found it best works for me. We hacked the objective, I was able to pair up with two heavies and we just bottlenecked the enemy team for the most part down some narrow passageways. It was nonstop intense action, and I even broke the WP earned cap several times! By the end of the match I was sitting on 4,895 warpoints. I almost earned a heavy laser strike in a solo squad. And if it wasn't for a tricksy minja scout tossing some RE's around at the end I would have gotten away with it too!
