I'm not terribly worried about the upcoming changes, though granted, I haven't run the math yet to see what an 85% reduction in scan range brings the cloaked scan range to.
For CRUs, I'd say still hack it cloaked, reasons as followed. Enemy does not know where you are for one. For another, if someone does spawn in behind you, they should spawn so close as to show up on the radar. Even just a quick pirouette in place should show people, without revealing your position. Also, if you do a sweep from side to side, you "should" pick up any reds near your sights that are outside of a cloaked radar range. Unless the new changes affect that too.
For hacking points, I still advocate the buddy/sacrificial lamb system. One person (scout or something) cloaked, one uncloaked. I can't tell you how many times either I've been able to hack, or counterhack a point because the reds kill the uncloaked person, but missed me until it was too late. I've also been surprised by that same situation, but in reverse. Kill what I think is the only hacker, only to see the point still flashing.
If I can stealth kill people with nova knifes, while wearing a pink minja quafe suit, no cloak, I'm pretty confident I can still mess with people pretty good once this update rolls around. Besides, this will probably work out nicely for my ADV cloak. I'm thinking (and hoping) that when I need to drop the cloak to let it recharge, it'll be the perfect time to scan for reds. Keep doing like I normally do, run cover to cover, recharge cloak somewhere between 1/2-3/4 so I constantly have a cloak available, and see how this all works out.
I am kinda excited about all suits getting an armor rep. Now my minnie scout might be more viable as nowadays I tend to run with 2x complex dampeners in the lows. This opens up options for me!
I do have a question on a different topic for ya'll, since the Barbershop seems to be more, civilized than most of the rest of the forums.
I have recently tried out my Amarr Templar Hvy..... And I kinda liked it..... The temptation with the new Quafe Heavy suits coming out to be a giant purple people eater is far, far too much for me to resist. I'll probably decide once I see which suit has more bling and bedazzlement factor to it, but any advantages to go with one race's heavy suit over another? I could be wrong, but they all seem pretty balanced and equal to each other. |

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer here, but man...
I just seem to be pitted against proto stomp after proto stomp after stomp, with either "You have been scanned" or "Scan avoided" burned into my screen, and darn near no hope of winning for my side. And when I say darn near, I mean we have as much chance of winning as I do of winning the lotto and the powerball in the same day, while receiving the news by totally hawt topless icelandic women.
Just very, very frustrating, right now it feels like I'm playing Ambush, but I'm not -.- |

I'd like to see scouts given more of a reason or specialty really.
One idea could be let us upload firewalls to hacked points and installations that slows down people trying to counterhack it.
I've seen some ideas awhile ago for scout only deployable equipment that looked like it could be interesting.
Right now the only things you can really do in game is kill, hack, use tools like reps, and deploy equipment. Give us something scout unique. |

Anyone know of any good FW channels?
Specifically looking for Minmatar and Gallente for right now.
Would also be interested in Amarr and Caldari, but I want to get a couple of the Min/Gal APEX suits first.
Thanks! |

Yeesh, I just got out of a match, the likes of which I have never before seen.
To mix things up, I went Logi, and I was like one of two logi's for our entire team on a Domination match. We hacked the objective, I was able to pair up with two heavies and we just bottlenecked the enemy team for the most part down some narrow passageways. It was nonstop intense action, and I even broke the WP earned cap several times!
By the end of the match I was sitting on 4,895 warpoints. I almost earned a heavy laser strike in a solo squad.
And if it wasn't for a tricksy minja scout tossing some RE's around at the end I would have gotten away with it too! |

So I am planning on getting the Vet pack while it's on sale. With the Aurum, I'll have enough to get two suits. I've got a couple of the suits already, but the ones I'm looking at are:
Tiger Scout
99% sure that I want to get this one
Minmatar Commando
I have the Gallente Commando, but the Minmatar one looks like it could be fun as well.
Caldari Logistics
This one is just too shiney, it's almost on Quafe suit level for me. I'm half tempted to try to use it as a light skirmisher/support/hacker job. But other suits do that better and I honestly think I'm just trying to find a use for it.
Thoughts? Anything else that I should consider getting that I'm not? |

Quote:Edit: For example, and I'll post here first, anyone remember the 'firewall' idea for objectives/installations? The idea was to have a feature where you could fortify a friendly objective/installation, making the hacking time longer, the more your level (and the more hacking mods you have on your suit) the longer the firewall will take to crack, on the other hand having code breakers as a hacker would reduce the time it takes to get through making a dedicated hacker with code breakers more important to have on your team.
Yup, I remember that. Would be kinda fun I think. |

Afternoon all!
I came here to seek help with my Flying Minja fit, see if there was anything I wanted to fine tune.
Current fit is:
Adv Minja scout (M/1?)
3x complex myofibs
1x Comp Dampener 1x Comp Kincat
??? for main gun Adv Knives
Flux Grenade
Adv Cloak ??? (Typically either nothing, or drop uplink)
My thoughts:
The new aspects that jumping provides brings me back to my starter suit and I'm loving it. 3x Comp Myofibs let's get the jump height to get most places pretty easily. I'm probably preaching to the choir here, but I can traverse areas that people aren't expecting to guard, get to points to hack, ambush. The really big thing is to go on anti uplink hunts. I can get alot of places that used to be DS only, and people aren't expecting hit and run tactics from a cloaked scout either, so surprise works big time in my favor.
I've been trying out knives, still have alot to learn about them though. If I am not carrying uplinks, I either run Tac AR, or some form of Scrambler Rifle as main gun, sometimes the CR-90 I think it is, the burst CR version. If I run with uplinks, I carry either a Bolt Pistol or Flaylock as primary weapon.
I find myself favoring a dual sidearm approach, but I'm not good enough with them yet to feel completely comfortable running strictly 2x sidearms all the time. I am getting more comfortable with them, which is good.
The complex damp is there to help get under the average scan, it won't help avoid a dedicated hunter though.
Any thoughts as to anything I should consider?
Thanks! |

With all this cool talk of Corp stuff, I might have to look at finding a Corp to run with again. Been wanting to find a group that does more FW anyways, you can be LFS for awhile, even with the Kirjuun Heiian channel.
I am really liking the recent matchmaker changes. It caught me by surprise to be tossed against better players like that, so I wound up getting butchered for a couple of games. But it's been really good for my sneaky scout game and now I'm going more 13/2 or 13/4 in games, with lots of hacks and running a good harassment game. It's been really beneficial and makes the games alot more fun.
I still play too aggressively though sometimes, and I have a very bad tendency to keep going after a wounded target who knows I'm hunting them. A challenge is the spice of life however!!!
Right now, Adv cloak/jump Min scout is fitting my preferred style of play perfectly, but I am looking to expand out of it and try something new. Anyone have any suggestions? Currently I'm skilling up the AR and Plasma Cannon for the Galmmando since I have the APEX suit, and you can never have too much PC goodness.
I have seen someone who I think speed tanked a Min heavy, had knives and a heavy machine gun who was absolutely terrifying in his ability to sneak up behind an enemy formation, kill a few with knives, and mow down the rest of the people with the HMG. |

Well now, that is mighty interesting indeed. Where might I apply?
I've been thinking of picking up a sniper rifle, but I have very little experience with them. I'm toying with the idea of either an Adv Min or Cal scout. Toss some Myo's on for jumping to places people may not expect you, basic cloak for changing position, hives or uplinks (probably hives). I might skip the cloak and run hives and uplinks. Not sure on sidearm since the point is to avoid detection. At least one Comp Damp in lows.
And gotta dash back to work, so more musings will be put on hold for right now. |

I had some fun assassination runs recently.
I've been running a cloaked Adv Min scout with 3x Myo's for jumpy good times.
It was a Domination match, with the enemy in control of the point, so I was playing a harassing game with their snipers and I fought for control over the supply depot. It got to the point where a team of 2 would provide cover for a third to hack back the supply depot after I hacked it.
I made it a challenge to see how many times I could kill the hackers and get away with it. My rule was that I had to melee the hacker, shooting was too easy. I actually did pretty good, I got away with a bunch of kills and they provided a good challenge, and they got me a number of times (blasted heavy!)
Exchanged GG mails afterwards, good times! |

It would be pretty cool if we got a skin/color slot on dropsuits.
But I wouldn't say nay to some more BPOs either.
I finally got to see the Quafe Massdriver in action.... The only way I can think to describe it was, it's so Quafey! @.@
Also, just expanding on some of the excellent advice to PARKOUR PRACTIONER,
You might want to skill up a Logi or something if you haven't already. There are some maps in Domination that I almost exclusively run Logi.
Granted, 99% of the time I go back to running a scout suit on most maps, but having an entirely different style of play to go to every now and then is a good mix.
Or if you know the enemy team is heavy into scanners and scout hunters, you might want to have Gal Scout leveled up a bit. I only have Cal scouts to lvl 3, so I don't know how well they work as anti-scout hunters.
And try out Myofibs.... There's nothing like bringing a fist to a knife fight and winning ;)
Though I have to admit.... That only happened once and I still don't know how he didn't kill me first. The fellow tagged me first with his knives as I was jumping, took out most of my armor, somehow didn't kill me and I landed behind him and smacked him.
Just be careful with the Myofibs. They will open alot of interesting possibilities, but, depending on how many Myofibs you have on, also close off any tight low ceiling spaces that require small jumps to navigate through. |

Much as I would like to see that happen, unfortunately I don't think it will.
Either middlemen will reign supreme, or you will have to be VERY careful of who you deal with.
I played EVE for awhile, loved it. But that is definitely a game where people will grief you just to grief you. If you have not played it, you can almost not imagine all the ways they can mess with you.
I got extremely lucky and bumped into an awesome corp back when I was a newbie, go Armilies!!! I miss ya'll!!
But what would really be nice would be a trading system like in Eve, or ye olde FFXI, where you can have a trading screen up and each can confirm that what each person is trading is legit. |

I really gave the Ion Pistol a serious try tonight, I kinda liked it.
Not sure what to think of the three pistols... It seems each has their own uses and it's kinda hard to pick which one I feel like using.
I've been playing a mostly melee scout right now, and kinda thinking of giving up the knives in favor of another sidearm. However I do have uses for those lovely nova knives, mostly Heavy, Commando, or Proto Assault slicing and dicing.
What I really want to do is a one fit fits all situations, but I just can't seem to find it yet, so I have two Min Scout fits right now. One is Flaylock + Knives, the other is Flaylock + Bolt Pistol.
I've also been running a PLC alot more lately. My aim still kinda sucks, but it's getting better.
Wound up taking a pot shot at a sniper, at I think 200+ meters after I destroyed his DS, and saw a lovely +50 float up on my screen!
Next goal, getting a headshot on a sniper with the PLC!
I have yet to try out Bloodborne, how is it comparing to the other Souls games? |

I have almost L5 Ion Pistol - I loved it at first, but now it doesn't seem so good. But that charged shot - that will OHK a lot of suits. It's just all or nothing unfortunately. As for PLC headshots - I've used the PLC a lot and never had that. I wonder is it one of those weapons where headshots can't happen?
You can get headshots with the PLC, I've only ever gotten two of them, and only by accident/luck.
I want to get some headshots with skill!
New biggest pet peeve with the PLC and dropships though.
I'm shooting down a dropship, the dropship decides to run, all I need is one more hit, just one more hit. Where does my last shot go before the dropship goes around a corner?
Straight through the open middle of the dropship and out the other side!!! |

Eh, I'll post my two:
Adv Min Scout
Comp Myofibs x3
Comp KinCat Comp Damp
GN13 Flaylock ZN28 NK Flux Grenade
ARN18 Cloak
Adv Min Scout
Comp Myofibs x3
Adv Ferro Plates Comp CardReg
GN13 Flaylock SR25 Bolt Pistol
ARN18 Cloak R9 Drop Uplink
The first is for just pure mayhem, hit and run stuff, and harrassing a point in Domination allowing more of my team mates to get there to hack it.
The second one is more for infiltration and annoyance, plus counter snipe/snipe with the BP.
Both of them are fun to go on punching sprees with, and surprisingly effective. The KN are almost exclusively saved for Hvy or Commando suits.
Otherwise I play both much the same way. |

I think if we combine a couple different ideas that have been thrown around about Myos, that we can address most of the problems.
Change the mechanic of jumping such that in order to get the full Myo jump, you had to press on jump for half a second (0.3 seconds?).
THEN increase the Stamina cost just for the Myo jump (but not the regular tap X jump).
This way, you don't have to worry about jumping over boxes when all you were trying to get over was a small ledge, plus you reduce the ability to abuse the new jumps with 4 or 5 in a row by the delay of the press, plus the extra cost for a full jump.
This is assuming that such a mechanic can be easily put in. Charge jump? Sounds like a good idea! I have a faint recollection of it being talked about back when we could bunny hop endlessly, still it would be a good change to the jump mechanic since it would prevent instant moon jumps as a response to being shotgunned in the back. I don't think this would fix any of the issues with myo's, it would just mean more high spot camping because in order for someone to jump up to you they'd have to stop and charge - in which time you fill them full of bullets. @ Haerr These are both ideas previously shared by others, but I think that the combination of the two would help minimize abuses without hurting players not even using Myos by nerfing regular jumps for everyone. @Mina Nothing says you have to stand still while charging a jump anymore than they stand still while charging knives, PLCs, RRs etc. I don't think it would make countering high elevation camping any more difficult, but I DO think it would reduce some of the other abuses we have seen, not to mention some of the annoyances of wanting to make just a small jump, but having to make huge ones.
I like the idea of a charge jump.
Maybe have it so that the more Myofibs you have equipped, the more stamina the charged jump costs. |

That's because this is essentially THE scout circle jerk where every scout comes to talk about how awesome they like to think they are. Hell we know HAV pilots hate one another so we aren't the paradigm of a good community but sense need be snapped back into you...... I would suggest "sense" be snapped into us would be better gained with reasonable discussion, not subjective attacks. Also, the perception and reality of what people think about us are completely different. Why is it no one points out how often we discussed and argued for scout nerfs after 1.8? Is that not relevant? Or does it simply contradict their already strongly held beliefs about us, and as a result gets tossed out?

Not a programmer, so just asking, how much work (and I guess manpower) would it take to rebuild the EWar codes?
Second (and third) question would be, how much work goes into trying to find a good workaround, and kind of at what point do you spend more effort into workarounds than rebuilding the code?
In other news...
Ran my feral Minja fit (renaming it to that now!) and people don't seem to like it. I thought everyone knew the customary Minmatar greeting was a slap in the face followed by flaylock fireworks to celebrate the occasion?
Went 19/2 on a Domination map, the one with the bridge in the middle. I made it to the point first, dropped an uplink and ambushed the first enemy stragglers who tried to hack the objective while the rest of my team gathered, and got their butts organized (took awhile)
I then proceeded to the enemy side of the map, and just ran a little circuit of hacking, ambushing, hacking some more, and bagged me a tank with the enemy's own railgun installation!!!
It was a good game :D
I'm finding instead of trying to hack the point first, especially when I have no backup and I'm the first there, almost 70%-80% of the time it is better to hold back and kill the first few enemies who try to hack the point while my team makes it up to the point. Otherwise there tends to be a 50%-60% chance that I get killed one or two ticks away from hacking the point. |

Speaking of post lvl 5 skills, I would not mind skills that would increase cloak duration, decrease cloak recharge, and decrease movement shimmer. Something on the order of 5% per level and that might fix most of my complaints about the current cloak.
I'm not exactly unhappy with the current cloak...... But it could be alot better, it doesn't feel like it is where it needs to be. |

Or I can dump the sp into PLC. Decisions decisions! |

I am sitting here thinking (and Lord knows that is a dangerous thing) what if we left Scouts as is (maybe a few tweaks) and created a new light suit called the Recon Suit (or something appropriate) The main idea is a suit more designed for infiltration than the Scouts, while removing Light Weapon usage from it to keep it from being an overpowered slayer.
Possibly make it fewer slots on average than a Scout, but the bonuses maybe let you make up the difference.... Not sure on that idea.
Rough idea:
Restricted to 2x Sidearms
Bonuses to Biotics/Hacking/Scanning Modules, Cloak (assuming no additional cloak skills added), possibly racial weapon usage for where it makes sense?
I would love to see a skill that makes Primary Objectives flip sooner for these suits, if possible.
I think these could be good bonuses to cloaking abilities per racial suit. Or, I could maybe see Cloak Fitting bonus stay on them, and make the following skills added to the Cloak tree:
3%-5% per level to Cloak Duration 3%-5% per level to Cloak Recharge 5% per level reduction to Cloak Shimmer
The 5% I think would work ok on Basic and Advanced level Cloaks, but I think might be overpowered on Proto Cloaks, so I'm thinking more 3% or 4% on Duration/Recharge.
And then either:
1% per level to Suit Dampening or 10% per level reduction to Cloak Blindness
I dunno, the idea is still half baked in my head. Thought that maybe I can toss this out here, see what you guys thought and maybe we can get this shaped up and pitched to Rattati. |

While cloakblind reduction would be nice, I believe the two most necessary changes are a reduction in the decloak delay and a decrease/rework to the shimmer effect. In fact I would even be alright with dropping the delay reduction altogether if they fixed the damn shimmer, it's so easy to spot you might as well not be cloaked in the first place. The cloak is my baby, it hurts to see it mistreated this way I agree with you, though improvements to shimmer would very likely require client-side update. We don't know whether or not it'll even be possible for the current team to recode shimmer; if they can, I'd be the first to say they have bigger things to work on right now. Uprising 1.9 - November 4th -- 35 days -- Uprising 1.10 - December 9th -- 54 days -- Warlords 1.0 - February 3rd -- 85 days -- Warlords 1.1 - April 28th I'd say Warlords 1.2 will arrive no sooner than late June / early July; they've alot to work on already with PC 2.0, Command Points, Raids, etc and I seriously doubt they'd have time to squeeze in a shimmer overhaul. I suspect 1.3 (Aug/Sep?) would be a more realistic goal for significant cloak and/or EWAR changes. Meanwhile, we'll definitely get one server-side hotfix (Logi/Assault balance pass?) between now and 1.2 ... possibly two (vehicle content drop/balance pass?) if 1.2 development runs long. If we keep our request simple -- something small and server-side with low risk of upsetting balance -- they might be willing/able to squeeze it in to one of these hotfixes. I have never looked actually, shimmer might be an opacity value on the server.
I don't know, but I am guessing there must be some way to adjust it though?
If you test the cloak shimmer, you can see that it is fainter if you move super slow by barely pushing the analog stick in the direction of travel. Then the cloak shimmer increases in brightness almost exponentially fast the faster you travel so that you easily have full shimmer going at maybe half speed.
No clue, but I'd be guessing you can adjust the movement to cloak shimmer % in relation to how fast you are moving, which might be a decent work around if you can't adjust it otherwise.
Some testing to see just how different is the cloak shimmer when seen by another player at different movement speeds might need to be done to find a fair balance between movement and shimmer. |

I'm kinda liking the new ability to alter APEX suits, but I do have some concerns when people stick on Comp PG/CPU mods onto a suit and try to make it a broken suit.
The flipside to that, is that by doing that, they are creating a fairly weak, yet expensive suit. You'd be better off running full proto probably.
I am enjoying the fits I can put together with Militia-Adv modules however. Too, now I can tweak some of the APEX suits to be how I'd really like them instead of being 'almost' just right.
I 'might' say that maybe APEX suits need to be restricted to Basic level LP store items. |

Anyone have any thoughts on the min scout vs gal scout apex suit?
Unless something changed you are not stuck with the std cloak, you might need to adjust some fittings to be able to fit the Adv cloak though.
Gal scout is good if you want to skirmish with it, and it's easier to hide with, which I like.
Min scout is good for getting out early and hacking points, and hey, free knife suit. It's really good for anti scout stuff. I'm still working on seeing if I can make a decent 3x Comp Myo fit with it.
It's a bit slower, but the Amarr scout is just a beast with the Scr Rifle, but I really don't use it as much. |

The only sense i've found that you really "get more" out of it, is in the case of caldari, where std bpo only gives you 1 low slot, but APEX lets you get 2, with finagling. because of the power. oh. I just found one use where it is fully better. I had a C-1 BPO fit that was for range. but it only gets 1 range extender. I can now fit TWO range extenders in there wit the apex. But of course, I have to spend more money than my C-1 fit. So... Seems fair to me Another thing to consider is you can deploy more equipment, again due to the stupid way bandwidth changes for different tiers. All in all there are a number of differences that make me think it's now worth getting one. Is my understanding correct in that APEX Logis are far better than BPO Logis?
I am enjoying APEX Logis much more than my BPO Logi fits, much cheaper overall and I can still make changes to them to make them a bit more to my liking.
An APEX Logi might become a new JLAV/Prox Mine fit instead of my Templar Logi.
I cannot wait for BPO trading to come out. I have a Quafe CR on an alt that I want to transfer to my main. I can slap that baby on some APEX suits for even more fun!!!
Quick question. Does Krin's Damage mod show damage adjustments correctly? I've been swapping out the regular damage mods on the APEX suits with Krin's, and the readout says I'm getting a lower damage adjustment. |

Ok, so another random thought.
Is there any benefit (or would there) to having skills affect multiple dropsuits?
Just using this as an easy example:
Drop Uplinks:
Does whatever it does now and adds
Amarr Dropsuits: +1 spawn per level
Might be an easy way to add some more complexity to the game without reworking the skill tree too much. Also allows for some interesting sidegrades/buffs to suits/weapons.
Now whether the game needs it or not is another question. This is just something that popped into my head while at work. |

Hmm, I can't find the post now, but earlier someone was asking what people thought between the APEX Min and Gal scouts. Having played some more with different fittings, I have this to add:
Gal scout remains the best unaltered scout suit IMO. It just about replaces and exceeds my old 40k or so Gal Scout setup. While I really like this fit, I also find it ever so slightly boring simply because I've either been a Min or a Gal SG scout since open Beta. The suit has some good flexibility in fitting that I have not fully explored yet.
That Tiger scout though... I have to say I think it is an extremely versatile suit that I am loving changing around and doing new things with, and just general mayhem. I tossed 2x Comp Kincats, 1x Enh PG Upgrade, Nanohives, and a PLC on it. This is my new favorite hacking/sniper hunting fit. Can take out installations, tanks, snipers, etc.
The PLC might just become my new main weapon, I have to play more with it to see. Alot of snipers tend to like to either run dirt cheap suits with an expensive weapon (easy kills) or they are an extremely hp stacked suit with expensive weapons (obviously harder kills) Unless they are well and truely hidden, I can get within SG range of most snipers. I have yet to find a sniper that could withstand a shot from a PLC, whereas I have found some snipers who take 3 SG hits to take out.
And I've been trying with the PLC on hackers and snipers to get headshots, no HS +60 yet unfortunately. Still gonna try!
All this talk of the mighty scouts of old, I'm surprised no one has mentioned Bojo the Mighty. |

Also of note regarding scans.
If you are in a suit, and get pinged. Swapping to a suit with a lower scan profile still leaves you pinged.
But it seems like the ping wears off faster. I don't know if this is due to certain scanners or not. |

However a prototype scanner on a vehicle is a -very- rare thing. Moreso than double sidearm caldari commando.
They're very hard to fit for dropships without digging deep into the tank. The advanced scanner (36db) is a lot more forgiving to fit.
They do go out for 80meters but they must be used persistently. When the vehicles leaves the area, targets only stay pinged for a few seconds and disappear again, so the vehicle has to stay in the area to constantly re-ping them.
EDIT: On second thought, it might be useful on an LAV, epecially the saga-II which comes prefit with that unique 60% hardener. Flip on the hardener while scanning and drive near the ennemy, odds are you will survive long enough to be useful, maybe even get away. New meta incoming?
I did not know that the saga-II came with a prefit hardener, that's good to know! |

I'm kinda digging it.
Use the Bolt Pistol to soften up targets, and finish them off with the RR. Or if it's a long enough range, just shoot 'em with the RR.
I am really liking the modified APEX suits right now. I can make a slight alteration and bam! It becomes a suit that is much more fun for me to run.

And I bagged two redline Thales' Snipers today
Granted it was a one way trip into the redline, but the added bonus was bagging ~3 other snipers each time I went in after the Thales'
Personally, I think squads have the potential to be overpowering and borked right now with matchmaking. I tend to notice whenever a game gets one sided, it's because it was originally a 9 vs 10 game, one side gets a 4+ man squad joining in, the other team gets little to no reinforcements, or the reinforcements just keep up with the dropout rate as a stomp begins, and it's just a numbers game after that.
I'll admit, every now and then I'd like some kind of either solo play, or some kind of cooperative salvage us vs drones or something like that.
I don't know what, but I do think something should be done for newer players. Possibly a meta level lockout as some have suggested. I've been working on getting my alt up to rank 2 for trading. Even with my knowledge and skills, there are alot of games that feel like you are getting your teeth kicked in when fielding militia/standard gear. |

Also, increasing shotgun range could potentially pose balance and risk/reward issues ... high damage is presently justified by extremely limited range (5m optimal). An increase on range would likely necessitate a decrease in damage. In my head, at least :-)
Absolutely agree that an increase in range should go with decrease in power, and that is absolutely not what we want. That aside, do you find that the operation skill truly increases alpha? From what I can tell (with me -extreme- lack of experience), it's either all pellets hit or they all miss, regardless of level. With the potential of more missing as the skill levels up. If there are instances where only some pellets find their mark, having the skill maxed out would only result in none hitting at all. Am I thinking about this the wrong way??
It does increase alpha to a certain extent the farther out you are from your target when shooting. At roughly the 5m mark with no operation skill leveled, you'll miss with 1/3-1/2 of your pellets (roughly, tossing out a ballpark number)
With operation skill at 5, at the 5m mark you will hit with 90%ish of your pellets.
It becomes much more of a, you either hit with all or nothing weapon.
I left it at lvl 3 for the longest time, since that was a good balance between still having some spread if I missed, vs not hitting anything. When I got better with the SG, then I brought it up to lvl 5 since I could hit with all the pellets more reliably.
How much +range did the old Sharpshooter skill give in Chrome? I kinda miss having that for my SG.
I wouldn't mind several variants for the SG. One like we have now, the other a faster shooting, lower damage longer range SG.
And change the Ion Pistol's charge shot to be a shotgun blast that uses up the entire clip of ammo.... (or somehting like 12 rounds) I like the idea of a pistol/SG combo :P |

Bah, I am conflicted.
The current Min scout fit I am messing with is a PLC/NK/Flux + stuff fit. It wrecks shield tanks really well. I toss one or two flux grenades, then fire off a PLC round or two and destroy the shield tank, or chase it off. Armor tanks are a bit different. They normally have time to hit their hardeners and get away, or kill me, if they're being smart.
I like the idea of packing AV grenades for armor tanks, but flux grenades are so incredibly useful for clearing out uplinks and stuff. I'm not sure which 'nades to go for.
Either way, I still have the grenades to toss down at a corner, cloak, and run away if I need to. I have yet to see anyone who charges a grenade, so it's a good delaying/getaway tactic at times.
I'll probably just stick to flux grenades, and count on other team mate's AV support to take out the armored tanks.
I don't ALWAYS have to be a one man wrecking crew!
And I have yet to get any PLC headshots. I'm starting to think you can't get a HS with them. Next time I find a sniper, I'm going to take my time and see if I can line up the reticule with their head. I want to see if I get a +% change in damage for a HS to show up.
I'm half tempted to make a Amarr Logi fit for AV so that I can run hives/proxies, + a PLC and sidearm. However it almost always seems like if I swap to a AV fit, then the vehicles go away. So I typically find it better to run my Scout PLC fit or a Galmando. |

Super jazzed and excited with the PLC right now.
I've been using it alot lately, and while I still miss a fair share, I'm getting alot better.
Last game the enemy team pulled out a couple of tanks. I got one with 2x flux grenades and a PLC straight up the tailpipe just as the second flux went off.
I tried the same trick on the second tank, he pulled forward causing my first flux to miss, I got him with the second flux and a PLC shot. He had enough hp to make a run for it, I only had time for one shot. I took a running leap for some elevation, took a rough potshot at where I guessed he'd be, and let fly with the PLC.
Up floated the +150 about 3-4 seconds later!!! :D
I don't know, but I'm guessing he was 80+ meters out by that time.
Super lucky shot, but still, super excited about it. That was one of my best shots right there.
I think Min scout with a PLC is becoming one of my new favorites. Super versatile in the running around hacking things, while packing enough firepower to deal with installations, vehicles, and other suits.
I'm thinking about swapping out the NKs though. I like how lethal they are up close, but I am limited in the ranged attack department. But running PLC+NK also encourages me to go with a more hit and run strategy that tends to work pretty well. I kinda think if I swapped out to a BP, or SMG, that I'd be tempted to try to stand and fight more often. Which would work vs most scouts, but fail badly vs assaults and the like.
Tempted to keep my Minnie as a hit and run general mayhem fit, and the other scouts like the Amarr or Gallente as more of a skirmisher fit. |

Having trouble deciding what to spend SP on.
In Dropsuit Command I have all scouts and Amarr Ass at lvl 5. Any other suit I use (except for Amarr Hvy) is either lvl 3 or lvl 4.
Most everything in Dropsuit Upgrades is maxed at 5. The only two skills right now that I'd benefit from is bringing Shield Recharging/Regulation from lvl 3 to lvl 5. Only other things to do would be to bring Scanner/Cloak/Uplinks from lvl 3 to lvl 5.
Weaponry skills, if it is a Light Weapon I use regularly, Operation is lvl 5 and most support skills are lvl 3 or higher. The same goes for Sidearms. Hvy Weapons I don't use too much.
Which leaves Vehicle Command/Upgrades/Turrets. While I don't use vehicles often, I could work more on my Vehicle/Turret upgrades to make going Proto tanks more worth it. I could at least get the fitting skills to go from a decently deadly Gunnlogi to a super deadly Madruger. Plus more LAV goodness, "WHHEEEEE'S!", and explosions.
