The fighting sides are CFC and PL (Pandemic Legion). SOV is short for Soverignty. I think you can guess what that means. Whoever has SOV has control of that section of space, and gains a lot of benefits. It is granted by stations (immovable platforms) and you have to pay bills to keep it running. PL forgot to pay their bills, and now CFC jumped in a huge fleet to take advantage of this and take control of that pocket of space. They dropped their own station, and have to defend it for 8 hours. Que gigantic freaking battle over a single asset. It's awesome. For comparison, The Battle of Asakai made gaming news about a year ago (which was started over a mis-click lol) only lost around 3 titans, 6 supercarriers and some assorted capitals. It was one of the largest battles in recent history, and totaled around $17k USD in losses. This battle has already lost around 22 titans, and over $80k in losses. This is huge.
