So you'd be selective about when you engage it. you wouldnt just run around with it on all the time.
technically, I supose they could do that with EQ as well; the selective, limited runtime bit. like scanners. But I like the idea of ammo, in the guise of charge packs or something like that.

Very nice... I managed to snake a lucky tank RE kill at the end of an FW match a few days a go. That +50 kill and +150 for the tank felt so awesome! Took 2 RE's after some A/V nades but man, what a sweet feeling it was! In retrospect I guess it's good I didn't have 3 RE's because maybe I would have been booted....?
I'll also add my comments to the ranks of those having success w/ the CR on the Minja scout. No longer is it SMG + knives over there.... all CR/SMG.
Despite the new weapons though.... I'm still all pistols on this guy.... I actually like the salvage only IA5 tactical a lot... the ROF is as awesome as the TT-3; the damage is less than ADV pistols but the zoom is more.

All of your cloaking ideas suck. Like really bad. You are prenerfing it out of the gate in silly ways. You went from equipment to a weapon slot? Then now it would need ammo? sorry man. none of that makes any tactical sense, and like I've said before. All this misguided sense of fairness is misplaced.
Also, if you want to talk about specific CCP language go read the mK.0 suit description. the melee biotic part is a laugh but at the bottom

Haha, I have experimented with ... SO MANY fits lately. Pre-1.7, I was running pistols/knives almost exclusively, but now I've been tweaking not just the fits (more HP vs. more Speed vs. Damage mods, different levels of dampening, range amps, etc.), but also the new guns, pairing up both the STD CR with knives, the STD RR with knives...
Finding I really miss my pistols, though, so going to test out a few combos with the new rifles alongside my pistols...
Will probably just end up back at pistols/knives when it's all said and done, but I enjoy experimenting |

How about this: (MASSIVE CHANGE)
Make it have a 6 round clip, like the ScP.
Bonus to Ops skill is 3% blast radius increase.
Give it around 75 Splash, with a 1.5m Radius at basic.
ROF is faster (but not ungodly)
You now have a sidearm that is made to quickly kill 1-2 targets in CQC in Minmatar fashion (Rapid fire and explosions).
For clarity:
Basic FP: 150 direct, 75 splash, 1.5m (1.72 with skill 5) ADV FP: 165 direct, 85 splash, 1.75m (1.9 with skill 3) PRO FP: 180 Direct, 100 Splash, 2.0m (2.3 with skill 5)
This will make it a powerful weapon if you can directly hit targets (difficult to do) but still able to take down a target by hitting the ground if you have to (PRO has 600 splash in clip at proto)
Feel free to change these or debate these. Let's try and fix the Flaylock guys!
EDIT: I love this idea myself, but I also just realized that you get an 8 round clip with the Minmatar Assault.

As for power: I really don't want too much power. I want flexibility with the gun. The ability to take on 2-3 targets if you can direct shot them, or the ability to take down a lone target by splashing him to death.
Right now, the flaylock can only kill if you can direct shot people, because of the lolsplash with people's huge HP nowadays.

I think it would make it much more competitive. Right now, it's a niche weapon without a niche...
I have my ScP, FP and SMG all at Pro 3, and my FP is the only one which I don't really feel brings anything special to a fight. It's a fun concept, but that's about it. I like my knives, which I only have @ Op 3, better. I'm not even good with my knives, but I would still rather have them on my suit. My ScP can drop a guy with headshots in no time, my SMG is always relentlessly effective and dependable, my knives are great when I get behind guys, but my flaylock is...? |

Dont reinvent the wheel, just tweak it back so its closer to where it was when it came out. With hit detection and AA where they are now, rifle and smg users could easily cope. |

Not sure where you got your "sense" meter calibrated, but I suggest you get it re-calibrated somewhere else :D Does it make it tougher to use than the uber-kill-toy you dream about? sure. But you're not going to get your uber-kill-toy. Wake up and smell the nerf bat.
it is a certainty that CCP is going to "pre-nerf" cloaks, as you put it, one way or another. If we demand full, no-limiting cloaking... we're not going to get it. Instead, we're going to get nerfing from the CCP wheel-o-randomness.
Far better to suggest limits of our own choosing, than have whatever nightmare CCP comes up with, inflicted on us.
Consider this:
if they implement it as I've suggested, as a light weapon, with laser-rifle style engagement... it should then be possible to spawn in cloaked. Just hold down the trigger during spawn.
Spamming trigger on spawn-in has occasionally given me a free headshot kill. This should be even better. Time to give spawn campers a little surprise. |

I put it on my Super Spy fitting and I'd be damned but it got put in the exact scenario I designed it for. It's basically a G-I fitted with a range amp, an active scanner, MLT SMG and the IA5 with reps and a basic or enhanced shield extender.
I was playing ambush with Sir Snugglz and I was using the IA5 at very long range in an attempt to strip someone's shields. I was on one of those sockets with the four cylinders and you can go beneath it where there is acid/poison water. Well I ended up going down there because I took some hits and it was a very low HP suit.
From there I Active Scanned the place and to my dismay, a majority of the reds were coming my way and obliterating the blues above me. And then there were no blues left, just me below the reds. I had a passive range of either 42 meters or 45, I forget which tier range amp I used...
But then one of the reds went down the ramp and I watched its chevron through a cylinder behind which I hid. I had the option to completely avoid his detection, but I wasn't thinking run, I was thinking Kill. The red comes around the corner and I just unload the IA5 on him. He manages to land a few rail shots on me but I think finished him off with like 3-4 SMG shots. By now the reds above were leaving and I couldn't believe how I had managed to pull off camping right under the enemies nose and wiping it too.
I have realized that hitting level 5 scout + the scout buff I missed was a tremendous help to me. Having forty meter passive scan allows me to be an omniscient urban god; CQC maps will never be the same.

Very nice!! Passive scanning and the tac pistol for the WIN!
I play similarly, using my passive scanning (although I typically run a precision mod in my high) and range extenders to pull all kinds of tricks with remotes and lining up pistol shots while I wait for reds to walk around that wall into a headshot.
I've used the IA5 in three matches thus-far, got about 10 kills and only lost one pistol (to, ironically enough, falling into one of those almost bottomless pits in the underground socket with the 2 underground levels)
BTW - Sargon and I squadded w/ you and Snuggles yesterday in Condor Squad, but I was playing as Lan and I think that was the last match for you guys so we didn't get to lay much waste....

Dust unis sure are a self limiting bunch lol. Oh I'm sorry- why would my assassin be good at assassinating. Consider this:
if they implement it as I've suggested, as a light weapon, with laser-rifle style engagement... it should then be possible to spawn in cloaked. Just hold down the trigger during spawn.
Spamming trigger on spawn-in has occasionally given me a free headshot kill. This should be even better. Time to give spawn campers a little surprise.
That flies in the face of the description of the suit I spent millions of SP to use. This description has been there since 1.0. The description makes sense. Let's stick to it.
