Shield regulator cause i like to regenerate my shields a little faster. Or a second dampener, or a cardiac reg. I just don't want to put armor cause i have other choices especially cause aside from a few fits my fits are VERY specialist. And that's how i like them.

Main reason why armor is bad on a Min Scout:
If you want to be competitive (i.e. Not scanned every 5 seconds) you NEED two dampeners.
So now what? You have 1 low slot left. Let me remind you that you have the HIGHEST BASE SPRINT SPEED IN THE GAME. Kincats are simply too good to pass up on the fit. 1 gets you to 9.35, which is insane compared to most other ground units. Speed and Stealth are the calling cards of the Scout, and the Min scout all the more.
But lets say that you need more health. Why not run armor? Because you only have 1 slot. Throwing on more armor is bad because you don't have a reliable way of regen on it. Base is too low, and reactives slow you down.
Not only that, but the MOMENT you put on a plate, you become a worse version of the Gal scout. Gal scout can run a higher overall HP buffer because of two low slots and higher base HP. He can run a ferro and rep with two damps. Or maybe even a reactive and kincat (my favorite). His regen is high enough to keep him alive, on top of a healthy shield buffer.
On you? It's simply sub optimal. Can you do it? Yeah. Can you do well with it? Probably. But be prepared to get your sh*t pushed in if anyone ever tries to punish you for it. You still can't tank a shotgun shell, and you're now much slower than all the other scouts, for little to no benefit. On the fit you have above? The moment I see armor on you, I'm switching to a damped speed tanked shotgun assault. I can tank a shotgun shell, and am just as damped as you, and faster. You'll get destroyed.
In all honesty, if you want more HP as a scout, go Gal or Amarr. They're the real fighters in the scout world. Min and Cal are more skirmishers. Get in, do damage, get out and regen. Gal and Amarr can practically live on the front lines with high enough armor regen and damps.

I agree with Ghost on Min scout fitting doctrine.
Two complex damps not only puts you under 21 db Gal logi scans, but also under 20db inner scan rings (the most common precision, if I'm not mistaken).
Now, on my advanced fit I run an enhanced + complex damp, which gets me to 20db. Perhaps it would be useful to drop one and go armour, but as someone who can't not run uplinks, I just don't have the PG available. I suspect that with most fits, the PG could be better spent on shields, equipment or weapons, rather than armour.
A kincat is almost always the best option for the third slot. A Codebreaker is a potential option too.
Speed and stealth, as Ghost says, is what a scouts are about. Otherwise you'd be better off with something else. |
