I agree with you, though improvements to shimmer would very likely require client-side update. We don't know whether or not it'll even be possible for the current team to recode shimmer; if they can, I'd be the first to say they have bigger things to work on right now.

I'd say Warlords 1.2 will arrive no sooner than late June / early July; they've alot to work on already with PC 2.0, Command Points, Raids, etc and I seriously doubt they'd have time to squeeze in a shimmer overhaul. I suspect 1.3 (Aug/Sep?) would be a more realistic goal for significant cloak and/or EWAR changes. Meanwhile, we'll definitely get one server-side hotfix (Logi/Assault balance pass?) between now and 1.2 ... possibly two (vehicle content drop/balance pass?) if 1.2 development runs long. If we keep our request simple -- something small and server-side with low risk of upsetting balance -- they might be willing/able to squeeze it in to one of these hotfixes.

I have never looked actually, shimmer might be an opacity value on the server.

If you test the cloak shimmer, you can see that it is fainter if you move super slow by barely pushing the analog stick in the direction of travel. Then the cloak shimmer increases in brightness almost exponentially fast the faster you travel so that you easily have full shimmer going at maybe half speed. No clue, but I'd be guessing you can adjust the movement to cloak shimmer % in relation to how fast you are moving, which might be a decent work around if you can't adjust it otherwise. Some testing to see just how different is the cloak shimmer when seen by another player at different movement speeds might need to be done to find a fair balance between movement and shimmer.

I'm still twitchy about them being flat out superior to normal BPOs but I suppose that was the problem we were always going to have when proto-base BPOs were introduced.
