Every now and then you still get them because of people leaving or being booted en mass, but even the frustrating two games I had earlier today were close.

I thought the goal here was to actually FIX things. not merely make them (slightly less annoying). Heck, Jolly's little video showed how a squad of just THREE, can dominate a domination game. Jolly's 3-man vet squad has fair odds against a 4-man vet squad. Not the case against a 6-man vet squad.
Changing the rules mid-discussion is cheating. :p
I thought the point here was to stop stomps.
Stomps happen when you get a squaded vet side, against a non-squaded non-vet side.
So your 4manvet vs 6man vet is irrelevant to the discussion.
My point is that a 4man vet squad can stomp an enemy non-squad team almost as badly as a 6man one. It's a guaranteed win... it will just be a *slower* win :p

Perhaps stomping is not quantified in guaranteed win or loss, but rather by player frustration. Correct me if I'm wrong though..
I agree we need 4 man squads for better LEGO block team building.

but.. but... how is plasma cannon more effective against hardeners?
proto PLC, direct hit, does 1155 damage With -10% to armor!
whereas Wiyrkomi Swarm Launcher, if all hit, does 220*6 1320 damage? with +20% to armor, and thats without additional profficency damage??
So, in THEORY, swarms should do better as a finisher.
unless it's not so much the damage, but the fact that you can fire off a single PLC shot faster than a swarm lockon+travel time ?
Presuming you are close enough that is.
For people who arent crazy jumping jackrabits, I might imagine that swarms would still be better as a finisher after a good nade to the nads.
Edit: so to make things clear after much snippage:
in theory, Nades+swarm finish, should be easier than Nades+PLC finish. Unless you're Jumpin Jolly Rancher that is ;) |

If i'm going solo, with a bunch of solo randoms on my team, and there's a really good squad on the other side that dominates one particular objective... but they still lose overall.. I dont care, and frustrationlevel is low. Because all I do is go to another objective, get lots of WP there, plus win bonuses, so ha ha you other guys still lost.
It's the win that makes it a stomp.
A good squad that still loses... isnt something that needs fixing.

I totally understand your point of view, sir. I haz question, though !
What if they won, but you daftly avoided them at every turn, constantly hacking and killing at other objectives, keeping them on their toes?
Technically you'd have had a great match, with more excitement than frustration. Would that be a stomp for you, though?

I've seen scouts run in cloak blind to hack an objective not seeing theres a heavy and me nearby, like in the same building but near the big windows. Kinda feel like dropping cloaks from all my fits. But again how else could a scout survive? Scanners? sucks for me cause I don't have proto level scanners, just adv. It's just annoying, I might just spec into Min Assault or something. I guess I'm more frustrated with all these changes because I quit Dust during 1.3, came back during or a little before Echo and was smacked in the face with less survivability, Assaults being more OP, Scouts being blind etc. |

interesting. Why PLC over, lets say, proto swarm launcher? Just because you can use it to kill other stuffs as well? Edit: and yeah, i'm going for a similar strategy myself lately, with swarms. Although having trouble catching up to the Really Annoying tankers. They just keep moving so no chance to catch. Ever. Grrrr.
In theory, opening up with nades and finishing with swarms makes sense. In practice, the PLC works better. Hit him hard and fast; if he panics, you'll pop him before he activates his god-mode hardeners. Swarms take awhile to lock on; his response window is larger, and by the time your followup volley lands he's already recovered some of his HP. If he runs, you'll never land your second volley. If he holds his ground or hops out of his tank, you likely won't survive long to acquire another target lock.
Swarms are great against birds, but they're pretty crap against HAVs.

I created a non cloaked Minja awhile ago, but I didn't find it viable.
I love knifing too much, and find it next to impossible to get around the battlefield reasonably without one. I find it hard enough WITH one...

If you're being stomped in Skirmish, you have the choice between hacking non-objectives, picking off stragglers, hacking far off undefended objectives, etc. In Dom and Ambush you have the choice between a) being mulched and b) being mulched

Being stomped in Skirm is so boring too, there's almost never stragglers because they're busy redlining, hacking far off stuff is boring as watching grass fart because you gotta walk for like a year then hack it then leave 'cause the blob is coming while the blues still do nothing even though there's a perfect opportunity. At least in Dom or Ambush the blues put up a bit of a fight because there's nothing else they can do. Stragglers are also way more common in both of those modes but there's no reason why there should be.
What're you looking at me like that for? I'll shank you I will.

There's power and safety in numbers. By reducing squad size from 6 to 4, we not only improve matchmaking, but we also increase the stompsquad's odds of taking casualties. The more a stompsquad is made vulnerable, the less likely people will be to leave matches when put up against one.
Can 4 guys stomp a match? Sure. But they do so with greater risk and effort than a squad of 6. Their odds of facing an organized opponent are higher, as are the odds that the opponent will stack around and fight. Their odds of steamrolling without taking casualties are lower, as are their odds of winning match after match.

We were super OP before, and while I would have preferred a different set of nerfs that still allowed us to be us without over performing, I simply have grudgingly accepted where we are now for the sake of balance, and believe that if CCP sees our K/S is too low, then something will be done to fix it.

First of im using adv not proto for cost effectiveness which really makes a big diff for swarms. But it basically comes down to speed of the shot. If I can land three av grenades and the plasma shot most tanks will break. Swarms lock on takes to long, the tanks will have killed you or the person jumping out of the tank will have.
Also swarms paint a big X on you for infantry to kill you. I tried the swarms and found them very ineffective vs most tanks. Current meta for soloing a tank is massive damage as quickly as possible before they drive off.
